Whitney Port’s always been a slender girl, but she looks super skinny in these new shots of her shopping in NYC.

Oh, Whitney. We loved you because you seemed normal and sane. Please don’t do this. Please.

Here’s Whitney Port — from whom I expected so much more — getting all handsy with some greasy dude wearing a fedora, a vest, and rolling his T-shirt sleeves at a Manhattan cafe.

First I hear they’re involving Olivia Palermo in this bullshit, and now this?

Vomit vomit blech.

Apparently Whitney’s spinoff — called The City, of course — will co-star none other than NYC socialite Olivia Palermo, who’s been desperately trying to achieve mainstream fame forever now.

According to a source, “Olivia has been filming all over town. She’s earning $12,000 per episode.”

Ugh. God. I was actually going to watch this show, but if Olivia Palermo’s on it, I think I’ll just sit on the couch, stare at the wall and drink Ipecac instead. I’ll be less nauseous that way.

Oh, and I’m also hearing rumors that VH1 is currently casting a “real-life Gossip Girl” reality series in NYC. Sigh. The next generation is on their way, folks.

Congratulations to Whitney Port, the only marginally sane cast member of The Hills, whose spinoff has just been picked up by MTV.

“They will start shooting immediately,” says a show source, who confirms the pickup just happened within the last two weeks—though the network has yet to respond to a call for comment.

The series, set to begin airing in early 2009, will feature Port’s life in New York City, where she is now working for Diane von Furstenberg.

Now this is a show I might actually watch. It might even give us a — gasp! — real sense of what it’s like to work in the New York fashion industry. Hopefully heading up her own series doesn’t turn Whitney into another dramalicious Hollywood starlet. I like that she seems down-to-earth and normal.

Will you guys be tuning in to this show?

You know, every now and then, something will happen that reminds me that I’m getting more mature. Like, I’ll carry the trash bag all the way to the trash chute, instead of just setting it in the hall outside my apartment and trusting that someone else will get so sick of the smell that they’ll take it to the trash chute for me. When I tell people I’m going to the gym later this afternoon, it’s the truth. When my cats are crying because they’re hungry at 6:30 in the morning, I get out of bed and give them food, rather than grabbing the water gun off the bed stand and shooting at them until they shut up. And, in the ultimate proof that I am becoming a full-fledged adult, I no longer care about The Hills. It’s true. I don’t watch it and I don’t want to. Every now and then I get a little pang of guilt about it, but it quickly passes. I really didn’t care at all about The Hills‘ season premiere on Monday and I’m not afraid to admit it.

But here are the pictures. Because I don’t think I’ll ever get old enough that I don’t want to look at other people’s dresses.

Lindsay’s rep confirms that she will be doing a line of leggings. No other details are available right now.

I am soooo going to buy these. I’m not even kidding. I totally will.

In other fashion news, Whitney Port is the latest Hills star to decide to do a fashion line. Whitney’s line “will launch this fall in upscale boutiques like Planet Blue. The 17-piece collection will feature a lot of navy, pink, multi-colored jackets, tie-dye and sparkly dresses that will retail from approximately $100-$500.”

Tie-dye dresses? Hm.

Word on the street is Whitney’s out. Her crime? Being “too vanilla.” What on earth does that mean? Did she refuse to date a disgusting guy who treats her like shit? Was she just too focused on her blossoming career to engage in stupid antics for the camera? For shame!

A source says she doesn’t know it yet, but they’ve already started shooting scenes with her replacement, intern Jenna Goldsmith.

Hopefully this is all a horrible lie. I love Whitney! She’s like the only person on that show who’s a decent role model.

The producers of The Hills finally seem to realize that Heidi Montag is BORING and ANNOYING, and we’re at last getting storylines revolving around the much cooler Whitney Port.

As a result, she’s becoming a star in her own right.

Oh, say it ain’t so!

Jane magazine bit the dust earlier this year, but it looks like its parent company, Conde Nast, may not be done killing off publications.

AFTER yanking the plug on Jane, rumors are rife that Condé Nast isn’t done killing magazines in its stable. One insider said, “Teen Vogue could be the next to fold. Their ad pages are down and people are freaking out. A bunch of editorial staffers have recently jumped ship, including [editor-in-chief] Amy Astley’s assistant, and many more are looking for new jobs.” A rep for Condé Nast said, “Not true. Teen Vogue makes money.”

This is awful!!! What will become of Lauren Conrad?! And Whitney?!!!

Everything I’ve heard in the past six months indicates that Teen Vogue’s circulation numbers are up — in part due to its role in The Hills — but I guess that’s not necessarily a reflection of how their ad pages are doing.

Oooh, maybe Teen Vogue will fold and Lauren will have to go work for Brent Bolthouse with Heidi! Now that would be fun!
