Everyone Is Totally Gay

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

At this weekend’s Hot in Hollywood bash, TR Knight showed up with his nearly underage boyfriend, Mark Cornelsen, and Tila Tequila dragged along Courtenay “Least Photogenic” Semel. Seriously, poor Courtenay never takes a good picture. I mean, I’m not the most photogenic person on the planet, either, but I’m not showing up on red carpets every day standing next to one of the most photogenic people on the planet. I hope she gives head better than she gives face. For Tila’s sake. I mean, I assume Courtenay is flaunting this new relationship to get back at Lindsay for dumping her, but honestly these recent photos of Courtenay make Samantha Ronson look adorable in comparison. I don’t think Lindsay’s second-guessing her choice.

Where’s Isaiah Washington?

Sara Ramirez and T.R. Knight at the Los Angeles (LA) AIDS Walk, Pictures, Photos

T.R. Knight and Sara Ramirez show up to AIDS Walk LA on Sunday.

No sign of Isaiah.

You’d think this would be one of the 12 Steps of Gayhab. Like, making a searching and fearless attempt to do the LA AIDS Walk. That should be on the list.

Let’s Take a Minute to Pretend I Care About What’s Going on with the Cast of Grey’s Anatomy

Ever since Isaiah Washington punched Patrick Dempsey on set and then called co-star T.R. Knight a “faggot” (and then did it again), there have been rumors that he would be leaving the show at the end of the season. Because he sucks and nobody wants to work with him. T.R. Knight and BFF Katherine Heigl have certainly been campaigning for his departure, with T.R. recounting his sob story to every magazine that will listen.

The season finale of Grey’s basically left the door open for either of them to leave: Washington’s character walked out on his own wedding and moved out of the place he shares with Christina, and O’Malley failed his intern exam. (Sorry for the spoiler, but, really, if you haven’t watched it by now, you’re not going to.) So, in the immortal words of Tyra Banks, who goes home? The violent homophobe who appears to be generally detested by the entire cast? Or the gay guy?

Nobody seems to know.

When asked last night if he would be returning next season, T.R. said, “I literally don’t know. It would be nice to know if I’m supposed to report back soon.” Apparently the producers haven’t told him, lest he tell everyone else.

Meanwhile, Us Weekly’s got a source at ABC that says “[Isaiah] will not be back as a series regular. The cast – especially the women – just don’t like him.” Other sources back up this claim, saying that Washington has been taking meetings in NYC and LA for TV series that will film at the same time as Grey’s, implying that he knows he won’t be back.

Washington’s rep denies these accounts, saying that “Isaiah is not off the show. We do not have a contract yet, but we expect to.”

I still have my fingers crossed for some strange twist of fate in which Katherine Heigl gets the boot, and we can get through ten minutes of that show next season without hearing Izzie whine about anything and everything. That would sure be nice.

T.R. Knight Not Quite Over That Whole Thing Where Isaiah Washington Hates Gays

On Saturday night, T.R. Knight, along with Kate Walsh and Katherine Heigl, arrived at the GLAAD Media Awards, which are given to recognize accurate depiction of gays and lesbians in the media. Grey’s Anatomy won the outstanding individual episode award for their “Where the Boys Are” episode (recap here), despite the controversy surrounding the show in recent months due to Isaiah Washington’s rare case of Homophobic Tourette Syndrome.

Access Hollywood interviewed T.R. Knight — the focus on Washington’s remarks — at the GLAAD awards, and it’s clear that life on-set is perhaps not as peachy-keen and brotherly as we’re supposed to believe.

When asked about how things are on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Knight [said], “We have about twenty days left, not that I’m counting…It’s going to be nice to have two months away, you know. I think everyone’s looking forward to it.”

When … asked if the break from work would finally give Knight time to reflect over the entire season he said, “Yeah, to learn from it. Grow. That’s the hope; that’s my hope.”

In talking about whether or not the cast has reached a point of healing and unity, Knight said, “I don’t know. We’re showing up and doing our work…There’s a lot of work to be done so that’s my focus.”

When asked how he would work on the process of healing the relationship between he and co-star Washington, Knight said, “I just focus on doing the work. That’s my job; that’s what I’m paid for; and I think that’s enough.”

The full interview airs tonight, so be sure to tune in to rubberneck.

When I watched the Access Hollywood thing I thought to myself, well if Isaiah is denying (calling his castmate the f-word slur regarding sexuality) what does this T.R. Knight fellow have to say? It seems to me that if you’re innocent you get the alleged victim to defend you, especially given you’re on the same show and good PR is needed at this point.

It’s now clear that Knight didn’t rush to Isaiaiaiah’s aid because he was lying. Allegedly of course (full article here).

Knight says… Washington referred to Knight, who was around the corner, using the slur. “Everyone heard it,” Knight says. At the time, Knight had not gone public with his sexuality.

So there you go. I’m not sure why you would deny something months after the fact if there was a chance you actually said it. Mel and the other guy just said sorry and moved on. They’re still jerks but at least no one is talking about it right now.

Maybe he just forgot he hated our gay brothers for “one night only.”

Grey’s Anatomy to "Pull a Becky"???

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Wow, Isaiah Washington is in a world of trouble. After nearly punching Patrick Dempsey on set, and unleashing a flood of homophobic slurs that led T.R. Knight to come out to People magazine, rumor has it that, due to the tensions on set, producers are looking to replace him on the show, possibly with ER’s Eriq LaSalle!!!

It’ll be just like the New Becky/Old Becky days on Roseanne. New Burke/Old Burke!!

I don’t know why I’m so excited about this. Probably because I love me some Eriq LaSalle.
