The madness that is Sanjaya is now over. Last night on “American Idol” Sanjaya finally got the boot and really it was time. I felt a bit sad for him because I really think he was having a good time being the nations’ unlikely Idol.

His Ponyhawk and signature smile made him loveable. His voice, well, it wasn’t very good and he never really cared. America embraced him in different ways. Some, like Howard Stern and PerezHilton, encouraged their fans to vote for him to mess with the juggernaut that is “American Idol.” Other people thought that he was sweet and had a good personality and loved the way that he messed with the judges.

I did some research on Sanjaya. He grew up in poverty and has been working in theatre and choral work for some time. He didn’t even finish high school and elected to get his GED so he could participate on Idol. I think this whole experience, as you could tell by the tears in his eyes, was a great adventure for the young kid. I don’t really think he was the popular guy in high school (the creative types never are) and this was his moment in the sun.

He was a smart contestant…picking fun songs and working the camera like we haven’t seen since Constantine. He knew that America’s votes kept him in the competition and even the guest judges kind of fell in love with the cute Indian kid with funny hair.
I thought it was cute when he got eliminated and substituted the words, “other than hair” for “how about love.” No matter what you say, you will miss Sanjaya. I’m kind of over this season now. Everyone is really boring. I hope that Jordin wins…she at least has some personality. Maybe Sanjaya can give her some tips on her hair

Maxim has named Sanjaya its “Girl of the Day.” I think Maxim is trash, poor writing and a poor concept - but I have to give them credit here.

I’ve hung out at a lot of bars, and I’d say 90% of the women on Earth don’t take care of their hair the way Sanjaya does. So ladies, the lesson here: develop that winning smile and some golden locks and you too can be Maxim’s gal of the day.

But don’t EVER get a fauxhawk. Those are just ass.

Ken Warwick, executive producer of “American Idol” says that he understands the Sanjaya obsession and doesn’t think it is harming the show. He knows that this kid makes good TV and I love that the judges have just given up saying anything negative about him. Warwick realizes there may be some people that turn into Idol just to see how bad Sanjaya really is.

“Well, the fact of the matter is that someone on the show getting attention doesn’t really bother me, obviously, He’s still there [on the show], and one of the key things is to keep people interested and he’s certainly doing that. It’s all about communication with the public you know. There’s something in human nature that makes people gravitate to someone who’s good-looking — it’s nature, for goodness sake.”

Ken knows that the Fanjayas are keeping him in the competition and not to worry about Simon leaving the show if Sanjaya wins.

“America normally gets it right in the end. I don’t think — I’m pretty positive that Sanjaya will not be the “American Idol” this year. Simon’s not going anywhere, don’t worry. There is very little hype anybody can do with the vast number of votes that we get. I think that if every single person that listens to Howard Stern voted, it would still … you know, the gap above and below Sanjaya is so big, that it wouldn’t affect the outcome at all.”

Even though a lot of people think that “Vote for the Worst” and Howard Stern are keeping Sanjaya in the compeition Ken realizes that when you have that many people voting really it depends on who America is choosing. I’m not sure I believe all that after the various voting scandals that have gone on. Sanjaya makes good TV also I know a lot of boys that hope that his hot sister jumps up and down a few more times after he sings. I really hope he takes advantage of that free “KFC Bowls” for life thing. Those things are good
