Perez on “Paris Watch”

Friday, June 8th, 2007

2007-06-04t063604z_01_nootr_rtridsp_2_ouken-uk-hilton.jpg

Perez Hilton is a bit boring but he is really on the ball when it comes to Paris’s “will-she-or-won’t-she” show up at the court watch.

Right now helecopters are flying over Paris’s house waiting for her to come outside.

A police car is waiting outside of Paris Hilton’s house to give her a ride to the court ASAP.

She is still inside as of 10:05 A.M. Pacific.

Earlier this moments, her hair and makeup people were seen entering the home.

So Paris is waiting for her people to make her up before she goes out in public. I want them to throw her skinny ass back in jail for 40 days. She was actually thinking of throwing a party and now is getting primped before facing the paparatzzi.

Throw her in jail! I’m guessing a lot of people get anxious and can’t eat when they enter PRISON.

Methinks that Cathy Hilton gave somebody a “gift” and that is why Miss Hilton is having such an easy time.

Hee hee hee … Perez vs. X17 Is Getting DIRTY

From X17:

If you’re gonna steal pix, you’re gonna get burned! Mario Lavandeira decided to infringe one of our images, yet again — as he does usually at least a few times each week — but this time we caught him with a decoy …

X17 sent out this week-old pix of Lindsay Lohan to our UK clients and captioned them like this:
First pix of Lindsay Lohan since dramatic crash with her Mercedes SL 65 in Beverly Hills May 27, 2007 carrying medication May 27, 2007 X17online EXCLUSIVE

Mr. Hilton published the information from the caption and the caption’s a FAKE, JUST LIKE HIM! And though he always claims he doesn’t know the origins of the images he uses that are ours — you can see that our captions clearly state that the images are from X17. That’s what you get when you read Perez!

The real, exclusive Lindsay photos from early this morning are coming soon on X17!

In fact, every image of Lindsay that Perez has used so far, to illustrate the story of Lohan’s DUI, is an X17 image. See you in court, Mario!

Here’s the link to the story Perez ran, along with some screen captures for when he pulls it.

It’s funny that Perez seems to have something against X17 specifically. When Creative Age publications called him out on using one of their images for his logo, he removed the logo and changed his favicon. Now this may be, in part, because I think he’ll probably try to make a satire case for his use of X17’s images, and that shit probably won’t fly with his logo (not that it’s likely to fly for the rest of the pics, either). But he uses Buzz Foto’s images with their watermarks, and always credits them. Most of the rest of his pics come from WireImage. Every now and then he’ll steal from Splash or Flynet, but most of his stolen images are X17’s, and despite their lawsuit, he continues to do so. I think this shit is personal.

Perez Hilton Logo Stolen

Jesus Christ, Perez. Is anything on that site owned by you?

TMZ has obtained a copy of a letter sent to Perez (real name Mario Lavandeira) from Creative Age Publications, demanding the logo be removed. In the letter, Creative Age alleges that the picture Perez uses as his logo is theirs, and that it appeared in a feature in the September 2004 issue of Nailpro — a magazine geared toward salon owners, managers and nail technicians.

Deborah Carver, publisher of Nailpro, says, “I’m a Perez fan, but he can’t use our award-winning photos. This isn’t the first time he’s done this. These are proprietary works that take an entire team of people to put together.”

The letter, which is dated today, reads, “Please be advised that our client is entitled to seek statuatory damages for willful copyright infringement up to $150,000 per work infringed.”

Perez Gets His Ass Sued

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Apparently the photo agencies are tired of this shit. From SplashNews:

We hit Perez Hilton with a multi-million million dollar copyright lawsuit yesterday.

Five celebrity photo agencies – Splash, Bauer-Griffin, Flynet, INF and London Entertainment Pictures warned Perez last December that we could no longer accept his unlawful use of copyright pictures without payment or credit.

He and his lawyers have refused to pay up and refused to take down unlawfully obtained photos. They don’t even have the decency to respond.

Most bloggers out there are decent, honest business people who understand the photographers need to earn an income and we thank all of you who do pay and credit and we are happy to supply you so you can entertain your readers.

But the time has come to show Perez he can no longer get rich off the back of other peoples’ work.

News reports and some boasting from Perez put his income at over $800,000 a year from advertising revenue and his appearances on TV shows, TV programs etc.

He says he gets up to 4 million unique visitors a day. Yet he doesn’t pay a cent to anyone whose material he uses to get fame and fortune.

$800,000 a year? Honestly, I think that’s a pretty gross underestimate. Even his cheapest Blogads go for $1200/week. His most expensive go for $9000/week. He has at least 10 running at a time. Let’s assume they are all priced at $1200. That’s $624,000 right there. That is not counting what he’s charging for advertising on his background (probably over $2000/day, although he doesn’t have one running each day), for ads in his feeds, and for personal appearances. He’s paying hosting costs and maybe some modest web design costs, but his overhead is negligible. He’s easily clearing a million annually in pre-tax earnings.

Check out the rest of the details after the jump.

Ha. WireImage is less than amused with Perez Hilton’s refusal to pay to use their images. The blue-haired gossipist gets no more title than “Guest” in the photos from The Pearl nightclub opening in Vegas. That’s gotta hurt.

X17 Makes a Pretty Good Point

Monday, April 9th, 2007

This afternoon, the paparazzi agency posted an open letter to AOL/Time Warner and all the folks behind TMZ.com on their blog. TMZ links to Mario Lavandeira’s (aka Perez Hilton) blog automatically in their Hot Links section. While I adore TMZ, X17 makes the fair point that TMZ’s parent company, AOL Time Warner, has, in other contexts, appeared to be very concerned about piracy, but their TMZ property doesn’t seem concerned at all.

In fairness, TMZ links to a variety of blogs that use pirated images, present company included. Why is X17 focusing on Lavandeira? Well, probably because he’s making more $$ off it than anyone else, and also because he’s been asked repeatedly to strike a deal with X17 and refuses. Lord knows he can afford it; he’s currently charging $1200/week for a Blogad at the bottom of the page. Ads at the top go for $9,000/week. He also manages to get his hands on their photos before they even finish distributing them to magazines — I think he still probably has a friend or two at that celeb weekly he used to work for in Florida … It’s driving the kids at X17 fucking crazy.

Anyway, interesting open letter, reprinted after the jump without permission.
