Former NFL defensive tackle and Dancing with the Stars finalist Warren Sapp was arrested on Saturday and charged with domestic battery after police were called to Miami Beach’s Shore Club hotel.

Sapp’s girlfriend of 2 years alleges that he choked her and pushed her down after the two got into a heated argument about her hanging out with other men. Sapp’s version of the story is that he was “helping her off the couch when she fell backward and hurt her leg.” Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhh. Riiiiiiiight.

The scuffle supposedly took place at around midnight but police weren’t called until 5am. Afterwards, the girlfriend was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center and treated for a swollen knee and bruising on her neck.

Sapp’s explanation sounds pretty fishy, and it’s difficult to argue with the bruises on her neck. But I’m still skeptical, perhaps because I have this nagging feeling that we’ve been through this all before.

At any rate, Sapp’s employers aren’t taking any chances. He was in Miami to cover Super Bowl XLIV for the NFL network, but has been “relieved him from his weekend duties as an on-air correspondent.”

Karina Smirnoff has asked dancing partner Steve Wozniak to walk her down the aisle when she gets  married to fellow DWTS dancer Maksin Chmerkovskiy later this year. Which is weird. No word yet on whether he’ll actually walk, or do it on a Segway. Given his recent injuries, my money’s on Segway.

“He’s a little out of his element but has the biggest personality you’ll ever meet,” Smirnoff said about her dancing partner. “He’s super funny and super charming.”

The whole thing smacks of publicity. I can totally see a DWTS producer pitching this to Smirnoff. Woz is old and kind of dad-like, so who better to fill the position of your absent father than someone you’ve known for all of about 6 months? And I’m sure the wedding will not be part of a “very special” episode of Dancing With the Stars.

As you all know the T is a big fan of DWTS. I am in love with Apolo Anton Ohno and really last year his adorable mug kept me watching each week.

I have met Cameron Mathison and he makes me super excited because ladies…he is a dreamboat. Mark Cuban should be amusing as he is always quite animated during Mavericks games. Jennie Garth fills the new “90210″ slot…I promise you next year we will have Gabrielle Carteris. The real shocker is Wayne Newton. He is of course going to be paired with some hottie dancer and stay through the competition longer than he should because he will be the loveable old guy. Mel B is a bit of a shocker since the Spice Girls are getting ready for their world tour but it should be some good free press for them.
