Considering that a lot of non-famous people probably dressed up like them last night, it’s interesting to see what celebs chose to be for Halloween. I love that Gwen Stefani wasn’t afraid to don a head to toe Jessie (from Toy Story 2) costume to take her kids out trick-or-treating. Gavin gets negative points for taking himself too seriously and not wearing a costume.

Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and his son both dressed as Eddie Munster while Christina Aguilera and son Max went out as a pair of skeletons. James Gandolfini and designer Christian Siriano both looked unintentionally creepy– one because he was wearing a Homer Simpson mask with the eyes cut out, the other because… well… you’ll see.

It seems like just the other day that Beet reported that Christina Ricci was engaged to her own personal giant, but now her relationship with comedian Owen Benjamin is kaput.

According to People, Benjamin had a birthday party on Sunday and the couple acted normally.  Sometime after that, they got into a fight and decided that the best plan of action was to part ways.

As it always is with Hollywood splits, the two remain close friends who talk on the phone every day.  You know, all three days that they’ve been apart.

Christina and Owen met last year, were officially a couple in October and engaged in March.  Sorry to say, this whirlwind didn’t have a happy ending.

Word on the street is that Christina Ricci just got engaged to her comedian boyfriend, Owen Benjamin, although her reps haven’t confirmed it yet.

Christina was apparently out doing some drinking to celebrate this weekend — and, if you read between the lines of Ted Casablanca’s column, probably putting some party favors up her nose. I am of course referring to, uh, nose rings.

Our source was partying at the Palihouse in West Hollywood last Saturday night with his pals next door to the Ricci/Benjamin bash. He briefly spoke to Owen himself, who confirmed it was his engagement party, while Ricci and the couple’s cohorts were in the room engaging in all types of typical late-night H-wood hotel room behavior.

Our source lost an amigo at his shindig, and called the dude’s phone looking for him. Looks like somebody snuck into the wrong fete, since it was Christina Ricci who answered on the other line!

Acting out-of-it from indulging in silliness more appropriate for a bachelorette party, not an engagement soiree, CR started screaming she would “call the f—-cking cops” if our source kept calling her—even ‘tho it wasn’t her phone! Who knew such feisty things came in tiny packages?

Congrats to Owen and Christina! Good luck with this, kids.

Heh. A reporter from Interview magazine made the mistake of asking Christina Ricci how she liked being the face of Louis Vuitton.

Her response?

“Well, I’m not anymore. I was one of four actresses that they used in a campaign once and it was really fun. I liked it. I would like to be the face of Louis Vuitton. I am not, however. You know who is? Scarlett Johansson is the face of Louis Vuitton. Wrong interview.”

Ouch.

This is why it’s nice to be a blogger and not a real reporter. I don’t ever have the opportunity to say really dumb shit like that directly to celebs.

I imagine that, if I were feeling sad, I could pull her out, put her on a table, and she’d do some manner of magical pixie dance that would cheer me right up. Or at least share her weed.

The haircut is stunning. She looks beautiful. Just so very Ricci. I feel like that should be an adjective. I don’t know what it means, exactly, but she just embodies this Ricciness that deserves its own word.

The little pixie was crowned in DC tonight. If you have any cash left after Idol’s fund-tastic tearjerker tonight (I prefer to think of it less as a donation to African AIDS orphans and more as a reduction in my taxable income), the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, co-founded by Tori Amos, always needs funds. And, admit it, after what “Me and a Gun” did for your adolescent years, this is really the least you can do.
