Later today, when someone’s all like, “Hey did you hear that Michael Jackson’s mother got temporary custody of the kids?”, you get to be all like, “Oh, yes, I think I heard that. I don’t know. I don’t follow celebrity gossip that closely; it all seems so silly to me. But I was relieved to hear about the Madoff sentencing today.”

Bernie Madoff, the evil New York financier who swindled investors out of billions of dollars using a Ponzi scheme (that’s your fancy word for the day — learn more about it here), was today sentenced to 150 years in prison for his crimes.

“I’m responsible for a great deal of suffering and pain, I understand that,” the 71-year-old financier told the court. “I live in a tormented state now, knowing all of the pain and suffering that I’ve created. I’ve left a legacy of shame, as some of my victims have pointed out, to my family and my grandchildren.”

Madoff’s crimes destroyed the life savings of many of his investors, leaving them working multiple jobs and barely scraping by in their retirement years.

“How could someone do this to us?” said Dominic Ambrosino, a retired New York City corrections officer who said he lost his life savings with Mr. Madoff and was the first victim to speak. “We worked honestly and so hard.”

Some teenagers toilet-papered swindling financier Bernie Madoff’s Palm Beach house last night.

Strips of white toilet paper hung from trees in front of his Palm Beach estate after two teens anonymously called The Palm Beach Post and took responsibility for the prank, the newspaper reported.

The teens, who did not identify themselves during the call, said they were retaliating after losing their trust funds to the accused swindler.

Madoff is currently under house arrest in his Park Avenue penthouse awaiting trial.

People are taking revenge on this guy however they can!

I wonder if he’ll survive to see a trial …

Bernie Madoff, the evil financier who swindled some very rich and famous people out of $50 billion with a standard Ponzi scheme, arrived for a bail hearing in Manhattan today … wearing a bullet-proof vest.

Can you even imagine the kind of high-profile people who are sending this dude death threats?

Craziness.

To make matters worse, the Manhattan judge today allowed Madoff to stay free on bail under house arrest at his luxury Manhattan home. The judge claims he is not a flight risk or a danger to the community, which are the two requirements to revoke bail. BUT he has been caught trying to give his remaining assets to friends and family, so that they can’t be claimed later by the people whose money he swindled!

People are gonna be PISSED about this.
