Absurd Was Five Miles Ago

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Beet mentioned that Zsa Zsa Husband’ Prince Frederick von Anhalt might also be the dad of the wee one. So it’s a three horse race, nothing special of note there. But PLEASE note this:

He said the two started an affair… meeting over the years in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. For much of that time, he said, Smith urged him to make her a princess like his wife.

But short of divorcing the actress, he said the only solution would have been adopting Smith. Von Anhalt said he did consider that and even filled out adoption papers, but Gabor refused to sign them.

To recap: He was kickin’ it with Anna. Next up, she wanted to be a princess, and hell, who doesn’t? I know I do.

One problem: the only way to do it would be to make her his adopted daughter. He was willing to go this route but jerky Queen Zsa Zsa cut them off at the pass.

In essence, he needed to make this chick his daughter so that he could continue banging her. Let that marinate for a bit.

Ready, Set, EXPLOIT!!!

Rosie’s Perfect Timing

Check out what Rosie O’Donnell had to say on The View yesterday morning, just hours before Anna Nicole’s death. Class-ay.

Notes on a Press Conference, Part 2

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Doc says they will take DNA samples, as is apparently routine in a case like this.

They did not find proof immediately that there was “chronic abuse” of drugs. But he emphasizes that all their determinations so far have been based on observations by the naked eye. Cute moment: “We are not Superman — or Superwoman, because there are women working in our office.”

A reporter asks to speak to the Chief. He steps up to the mic. Reporter asks if there is any truth to the rumors that Howard K. Stern was flushing something down the toilet as officers arrived on scene. Chief says no. Reporter is not willing to let this die: “How about the paramedics?” Chief says no.

Chief says they will not be releasing the 911 call at this time.

Reporter asks “Is it possible for someone to have died from an overdose if you do not find any pills in her stomach?” Is this really a question this dude needs to be answering for you? You need to use this press conference time to get this info? “Hey, Doc, my nose is kind of runny lately, and Sudafed usually helps but lately it hasn’t been doing much for me. The stuff coming out is kind of greenish. What do you say?” Sheesh. Doc says it’s possible. Reiterates that they don’t know anything until the tox reports are back. Doc notes that the only reason they’re doing this press conference so early is to stop any crazy rumors.

Reporter asks if Anna could have been dead for hours before her body was brought to the hospital. Doc says no — body was warm when it was found.

Doc says he plans to preserve the body in order to cooperate with any orders by the court system.

Reporter asks how long the autopsy took. Doc says about six hours.

Doc reiterates that if Anna had taken a “mass quantity” of pills, they would probably have found some of the pills still intact in the stomach. They found no such pills.

Reporter asks if there was any sign of recent plastic surgery. Doc starts to say yes, then corrects himself and says that it was older plastic surgery. That was weird.

Reporter asks if, in the absence of pills, could there have been liquid or inhalants which killed her? Doc says yes and that they plan to check.

Reporter asks if the prescription meds were in her name or someone else’s — of course in reference to the rumors that the pills were in Howard K. Stern’s name — Doc says he didn’t see them himself and doesn’t know.

Reporters are making some reference to “bags you took out” and asking what was in them. I’m not sure what these bags are, but the Chief of Police says it was “evidence from the scene” and refuses to talk more about it. He seems uncomfortable with this question.

Reporters keep asking why she had a private nurse with her. No one’s willing to talk about this.

Someone asks where Howard K. Stern is. The question is ignored.

Chief of Police peaces out, but Doc hangs around a little longer. Someone asks him if the amount of drugs found in her room was “excessive for one person.” Doc dodges the question. Explains patiently to reporters that the relevant issue is not how many medications were found in a bottle, but rather how many medications were found in her body. Heh. “That’s not a legitimate question,” he says. I like this guy.

Again he will not reveal how many medications were found in the body. He won’t answer, but says that “there were a number of them.”

Someone asks again where Howard Stern is. Again, nobody answers.

Conference over.

Notes on a Press Conference

Friday, February 9th, 2007

The Anna Nicole Smith autopsy press conference is in progress. Here’s the liveblog.

Dr. Joshua Perper, the chief medical examiner for Broward County, kicks things off.

He thanks a bunch of people first. That’s nice. Can we move on?

He introduces the Chief of Police, Charlie Taggert, who extends his sympathy and thanks a bunch of people. He says they plan to investigate thoroughly. He says no evidence exists to indicate that a crime occurred. They found no illegal drugs at the scene — only prescription medicines. They are not releasing the names of those medicines. This incident will remain an open investigation until all tests are completed by the medical examiner’s office.

Okay, the Doc’s back. Heh. He makes reference to “Mrs. Nicole Smith.” He says she had apparently been sick for several days from a stomach flu. Confirms that a bodyguard provided CPR, then medics transported her to the hospital. Patient was “virtually dead on arrival” and declared dead at 2:40 pm. Broward County assumed jurisdiction.

Autopsy excluded any type of physical injury as the cause of death — no blunt force trauma, gun shot wounds, stab wounds, etc. I’m glad they had a crack medical team on-hand to determine that. They did find a minor bruise on her back, apparently attributable to a fall in the bathroom several days back. Autopsy revealed “subtle findings” in the heart and gastrointestinal system, pending microscopic verification. They also found “a small amount of blood” in her stomach, related to her being in terminal shock just before she died.

They are not yet making a determination on cause of death. They have to run a bunch of tests still. Doc gives us the laundry list of these. They estimate it will take 3-5 weeks to make a final determination. They plan to make “optimal efforts to expedite” this process, due to public interest in the case.

“No such indication” that Anna overdosed. They did not find any pills in her stomach. They don’t have final results of the toxicology tests, but, in terms of what the naked eye can see, there were no pills. Doc seems to think that, if she’d taken a massive amount of pills, in keeping with a suicide overdose, there would still be visible pills in her stomach. But he hasn’t completely ruled out an overdose.

“It is a possibility” that this might be a natural death. He says there are 3 major possibilities:

1) Natural causes
2) Medication or chemicals
3) Combination of the two.

Fascinating.

More later…

The Web is in Mourning

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Both Anna Nicole’s site and the TrimSpa site are quite sad today.

AnnaNicole.Com

TrimSpa.com

They also are in the same format and the same text. Something about that seems really strange to me. It is also bit weird that her own website doesn’t have a tribute to her but the TrimSpa one does.

At the bottom of TrimSpa’s site you can click and see various tributes that TrimSpa customers “sent in.” I’m a bit confused how they got these tributes as there isn’t a “click here to send a tribute” link. It is a bit fishy that they have all of these testimonials reacting to her death when the website went dark yesterday afternoon after notification of her death. It sounds like Bob in Ad Sales wrote most of these as they all sound like an advertisement.

Also…where is Howard K. Stern? Here is the weird interview that he gave to Larry King after the death of Daniel, Anna’s son. Call me crazy but I’m convinced that he has something to do with all of this. He is the common thread. As the Beet pointed out…I can’t wait for the “Law and Order.”

Anna Nicole: Day Two

Friday, February 9th, 2007

As of 10:30 PST, here’s what we have so far:

  • Prescription drugs were found in Anna Nicole’s room. The pills were in Howard K. Smith’s name!
  • A judge today refused emergency DNA testing to determine the paternity of Dannielynn, but ordered her remains preserved until a full hearing on February 20.
  • It appears that Anna and Howard K. Stern were set to be legally married (their last marriage, it turns out, was not legally binding) in the Bahamas on February 23.
  • The couple were both in Florida yesterday to buy a 39″ boat they planned to take back to the Bahamas.
  • Anna Nicole’s mother, Vergie Smith, is headed out to the Bahamas right now to ask a Bahamian judge for legal custody of Dannielynn.
  • Just in case you’re bored so far, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband of twenty years, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, is now saying that he might be the father of Dannielynn.
