Love It or Leave It?

October 16th, 2009 by Wendie

American Idol winner Kris Allen performed at Seton High School in Ohio to recognize their accomplishment of raising $5,000 for breast cancer research.  He did an unplugged, acoustical version of Britney’s “Baby One More Time”.  Here’s the question:  Who did it better?

Love it! It’s great by Britney but I like the angst that it shows played like that. I also liked Marty Casey’s version on Rockstar:INXS back in 2005. Awesome!

I like it. It’s kind of a classic at this point.

About 8 or 9 years ago, I saw the band Travis do this very same thing (they were opening for Oasis). It was slower and actually, quite haunting.

Good for Kris. Seems like the kids he played for loved it, too.

It is not hard to top Britney as far as singing talent goes.

    Hhah LOVED IT.

Especially the high pitched “STILL BELIEVE” nice.

  5. Whoa hold on this fella is covering a cover in the style of the Scottish Band Travis ( right on Julia)

    Marty Casey.

I’m a sucker for anything acoustic. Definately loved it.

    Fuck you.

BOMT is classic and no one will sing it better than Brit.

You people are idiots. Any acoustic cover gets pretentious assholes saying it’s better.

Don’t understand people that hate Britney. Assholes

      aww…did someone start their period?

I agree with anonymous. All I heard was a bunch of stupid bitches screaming. Britney rules!

      • Anonymous says:

        Fuck yeah she rules!

Aren’t you people oh so funny with your witty comments about periods?

Wow. Go pat yourselves on the back.

It is a classic and the “i’m-going-to-hate-on-Britney” bandwagon shit is fucking tiring.

    • Julia says:

Hold up. I did say “BOMT” (as apparently is called now?) a modern classic.

      I don’t hate Britney.

And, thanks “Letterman Intern” for know about the Travis cover version. Not many people do–but FYI, David Letterman is still my imaginary boyfriend. Don’t go sniffin’ around him. I’m dealing with a lot right now.

      ;)

    • Think Straight says:

I dont hate Britney, but can she actually sing? Her voice actually sounds so heavily processed that it’s hard to tell.

And I wonder what kind of act she’ll have when she’s 40 – it’s tough to stay a pop-tart/teen idol forever. (No, I don’t hate her.)

i’m surprised at how i really love it. he did a great job with kanye’s “heartless” too, check that out if you missed it. i think he’s finding his niche, taking unexpected creative license with songs that are out of his genre. me likes.

the more i hear from him, the more i start to like him. I do like this version, as well as the wonderfully cheezy brit version. it’s like hearing bubblegum, the original.
