Pete Wentz Declares The “Emo Swoosh” Dead

Earlier today on his Tumblr, Pete Wentz let us know what’s hip: “jay-z had the death of autotune. this is the death of the emo swoosh.” With those horrid bangs finally gone and this freshly buzzed head, I gotta say that Mr. Wentz is looking kind of cute.

Personally, I welcome the death of “the emo swoosh”, a hair cut that’s been emulated by every 14 year old boy and lesbian for the last five years. Not only was the look tired, but it got to the point where it was hard to look at the greasy locks on your conversation partner and not wonder when the hell the last time they showered was. Perhaps we can also kill the super skinny jeans, plaid shirts and two sizes too small hoodies while we’re already in the fashion graveyard, Pete? Thhhhaaanks.

Are skinny jeans not acceptable? I prefer the fit of them. They still fit over my ass (don’t sag down) and I don’t wear crazy belts or anything like that. I need fashion guidance, apparently. I just wear them with t-shirts or polos.

I think he looks much better. Like a young father who is growing up. Nice transitions.

Now all he needs to do is put down the eyeliner.

    Oh thank god.
Maybe one day soon I can have a fringe without the fear of being called emo

Oh my gosh…I do not think any of you realize how happy I am. I do not care for this so-called “emo swoosh,” or the guy that are constantly flicking their heads to get the hair out of their faces! I do not even know what band this dude is in, simply that he is a band and is married to Jessica Simpsons sister. But I hope, I so so so hope, that people with the emo swoosh follow his lead. Fairwell haircut, you will not be missed by me.

Too bad this scene shit is just starting. It’s emo with longer hair and stupider chilluns.

  9. Abbi says:

I fucking love when guys wear skinny jeans and plaid shirts… namely my fiance. I love plaid in general. Plaid on everything. Omg plaid. Much more fashionable than fucking shoulder pads in tshirts.

  10. Oxymoron says:

Aww… his sexiness level just majorly dropped.

  11. Kaila says:

Plaid shirts+skinny jeans= fucking stupid drone/carbon copy lumber jack

  12. niknak says:

i hate the emo look…i am always confused as to whether the person is male or female. its just creepy and totally feminises the male

  13. Sandra says:

I can’t even recognize him without his emo ‘do!

Emo Swoosh? Emo Shag? I’ve always referred to it as a Hair Fang. Whatever – I won’t miss it!

whats wrong with skinny jeans not just emos wear them & tbh if people wore baggy jumpers you would complain about it

Hopefully the “emo swoosh” will soon be just a memory, like “the rachel”. Btw skinny jeans are ok on girls, not guys. It makes dudes look like their wearing their little sister’s pants. It’s even worse when they’re jeans are so tight you can totally see their bulge.

The whole “dressing emo” thing has chapped my ass for years now. It’s offensive towards the genre of music itself and, in all honesty, the bands who started and still play true emo (Jawbreaker, The Promise Ring, Sunny Day Real Estate, early Dashboard Confessional, The Get Up Kids, Further Seems Forever, The Anniversary, Saves The Day, etc.) never really dressed that way. I wish people would get it straight. The fashion has absolutely nothing to do with the music. Period.

Doesn’t look so sexy & unique anymore:((((

Does everybody think that this article is a bit bias? Because it is very.

I think the emo swoosh is great and I support all emos.

Just because one idol like Pete buzzed his head doesn’t mean the end of emo.
