Justin Timberlake’s “Open Road” Appears to Go Nowhere
August 5th, 2009 by Evil BeetWooooooooow. Did Hollywood fire all its half-decent trailer directors because of the recession? Bad idea. I mean, there are shitty trailers, and then there are shitty trailers. This one falls in the latter category. Not one of these jokes is funny, and not one of these shots make Justin Timberlake look like a competent actor. Why does he keep trying? Justin, you’re really good and making music and dancing. You’re not good at acting. Give it up.
By the way, the poor girl who got sucked into this cinematic sinkhole is Kate Mara, who was in Brokeback Mountain and was also totally awesome in Transiberia. This script choice was a notable misstep on her part. Note to talented up-and-coming actresses: If a “singer-turned-actor” is involved, you shouldn’t be. Taryn Manning, I’m looking at you.

I dunno, I think it looks good. Then again I’ve been in the mood for heart felt and mushy things lately. I did laugh at one point, don’t remember which- but I do like it.
I thought JT was great in Alpha Dog.
He was also pretty good in Black Snake Moan…

Wow, the entire trailer was just a bunch of awkward pauses due to the fact every attempt at humor ended in mundane statements.
I cannot dislike anything that Jeff Bridges is in, sorry.

wasn’t taryn manning also a singer before she acted? remember that song “i came i saw i kicked some ass…” so at least she isn’t hypocritical. loved that song.
I think Taryn was an established actress first, then formed her band. But you’re right, “The Wreckoning” is one of the greatest songs ever. Period.
He’s so untalented, but it was nice of him to use Cameron Diaz to make even more money because without her he never would have been given a part, he’s just that bad at acting. But better than Jessica Biel, but that’s not saying much is it?
You make it sound like Diaz can act. She kills every movie for me, I think she’s that bad and unpleasant. The Vegas movie with Ashton Kutcher? Abysmal.
Alpha Dog wasn’t exactly a hard role. Act like a thug gangsta. Same with Black Snake Moan. I just can’t stand JT I think he’s so overrated in all arenas.
Jessica Biel was pretty good in The Illusionist. I’ve only seen her in The Illusionist and that horrid movie with Adam Sandler and the horrible guy from Paul Blart.

And I don’t want to watch, hear or look at JT. He’s ugly, can’t act and is not a musician. I have never been able to figure out the attraction to anything about this guy. And his ego is bigger than California!
