Michael Jackson’s memorial service is next Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Like all Michael’s previous performances, ticket agencies will be involved.  I think this is very sad.

Michael’s whole life seems to have been centered around making money.  As a child, his focus was making money with Jackson 5 to help support his family.  As an adult, he achieved huge heights of fame, yet seemed constantly plagued by the problems his fortune garnered him.  Now, even the mourning of his death will be an assigned seating, ticket-stub event.

Maybe it’s for crowd-control? Whatever the reason, I think you hit the nail on the head. Kinda disturbing… :(

  2. Tiffany says:

  3. Nora says:

I can’t wait til scalpers buy up tickets and then turn HUGE profits in resale.

    Lovely.

  4. spohie says:

maybe they are free tickets but for crowd control?

  5. Melissa says:

That’s so horrible. I wonder if asshole Joe had a hand in this…

  6. Bee Hind says:

    Despicable!
The Jackson’s have to make a few more bucks off of his corpse before they lower him into the ground.

I don’t think it is such a big deal. The preparations, security, energy, and staff necessary for such an event will run easily into the millions, and why should money that could go toward his children be used on the public? $25 seems fairly reasonable considering the costs involved, the speed with which it had to be put together, and also, any potential profits would go towards his debt, or his estate, either way ensuring a comfortable future for the kids. No biggie at all. Also, charging helps keep out the riff-raff and will help ensure a nice memorial.

They don’t need to have a public viewing but are choosing to have one. Shouldn’t his 500 million in his estate pay for it? It is a cash grab.

i think that’s horrible! why would people do that? this should be an event for people close to him, friends and family. It shouldn’t be turned into a way to make money off him. God, some of the things people do are disgusting.

  11. shz says:

maybe to cover for his huge debt?

  12. eric says:

Not me. I’m gonna give my 25 bucks to the young kid down the street and we’ll just honor Michael Jackson in a way he’d appreciate. Naked, in bed, drinking Jesus Juice.

  14. Wondering says:

    Where can we get tickets?

  15. meohmy says:

I am thinking the ticket stubs will have an advertisement for Joe’s new record label.

  16. Lorelei says:

Have to admit, MJ was always a trendsetter and this is a new one

  17. someone says:

If they can’t afford this hugh event, without charging admission, then they should have a classy private event with close family and friends.
