I Have Opinions on the American Idol Finale

You are WRONG, America. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!

While I do feel Kris Allen is an incredibly talented young man, and I do respect him for that, Adam Lambert is a one-of-a-kind artist, and clearly head and shoulders above Kris’s John Mayer impersonation.

There’s a lot of talk right now about whether or not this has to do with Adam being gay. Eight seasons in and we still haven’t had a gay American Idol. (Well, except for Kelly Clarkson, but I think she’s still a few years away from coming out of the closet.) Personally, I don’t think it’s about Adam being gay, per se; I think it’s about American teenagers wanting a cookie-cutter performance from a cookie-cutter talent, like Danny Gokey or Kris Allen.

I, for one, will be buying Adam’s AMAZING album when it comes out, and Allison’s. You can keep the rest of ‘em.

(Oh, and seriously, if you didn’t want spoilers, get off the Internet.)

I totally agree with you Beet.. I hope this is not because he’s gay, cus that’s gonna piss me off even more.. They better come up with some good excuse for this shit, cus it’s not fair at all..
And the look on the guy’s face was priceless when they told him he was the new american idol!!.. lol.. Even Kris was sure Adam was gonna win.. That’s bullshit..

Why get so worked up? These people always have they’re names followed by American Idol, it doesn’t get them the respect, that only some of the deserve, because they’re doing nothing but groveling for recognition from the start. It shouldn’t matter if a person is being who they are, (if you go on A.I. you’re really not though) It’s somebody being wrongfully used, as a science experiment, in the form of an opinion poll, to see who “will’ object, because American Idol doesn’t care about who won’t.

This is a blessing is disguise. Now Adam Lambert won’t have to sing that stupid song Kara wrote for the next 3 years of his life. Which is a horrible shit song BTW.

As a non-American (Australian), I’m astounded at the way you guys make everything about sexuality.

Gay, gay, gay. Why do people need to be defined that way? Who cares?

Can’t anyone just be an ‘artist’? If Kris had lost, would people be saying “I hope it’s not because he’s a heterosexual”? (probably).

In my country, sexuality is seen as much more fluid. Being gay or straight isn’t the defining characteristic of a person.

People are defined as a PERSONALITY, not just a SEXUALITY.

Those sentiments are very open minded, but you’re trying to get attention, from people, who believe fair judgment, and any kind of compassion, is out dated, they’re only looking for someone to agree with they’re evil opinions, not somebody that’s nice. To them that’s a sign of weakness. Tako had the right idea, but being drawn into the gossip, (they better have a good excuse) defeats the point. Nobody wins American Idol based strictly on talent, it’s about how much Simon, Randy, and sometimes Paula, can belittle a person no mater who they are. Another example would be how much people wanted to see Susan Boyle fail because of her looks, so now that wouldn’t be about sexual preference would it? No it’s about knocking people down, and these people are strangers to the person they hate, they don’t make sense.

There are a LOT of older viewers who grew up believing that music was more important than the show. We had records and 8-tracks, not videos.

Adam made a decision to make the “show” as important as the music. Kris stuck to the music.

Adam turned me off with his “over the top” persona. There just wan’t anything to not like about Kris. Sadly, I think that did him in.

And, no, it wasn’t a “gay” thing. I voted tons for Clay several seasons ago and still believe he was way more talented than Reuben. But Clay was a singer first and foremost.

What’s an 8 track?…is it like a rotary telephone? I think my mom had one, oh hell yeah, Back to the days of Bowie/ & Clapton. Music has to change, but those names just make you ask yourself why?

You’re really that pissed off about the winner of a contest to become the most boring lame boring pop singer. Based on the grounds that one of the contestants was slightly more boring than the other?

Go see a real band somewhere instead of watching the contrived nonsense that is Idol.
