Lindsay Lands a Gig! So Does Alanis Morrissette!

I don’t know how it happened, but someone cast Lindsay Lohan in another movie — an indie flick co-starring Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette. It’s called The Other Side, and it centers on a grad student who must spend the summer working at a scientific institute on a remote island. She discovers an eccentric community of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before.
“Lindsay’s very aware of people’s perceptions of her,” director David Michaels said. “She’s really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that.”
Ummmmm … is she committed enough to keep her ass out of nightclubs for more than a day at a time? I think not.
I’m also interested to see how Alanis works out as an actress. I don’t think she’s ever done anything like this, right? The whole thing kind of reeks of stunt casting — why else would you cast Lindsay Lohan, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morrissette? Lindsay’s movies flop as a rule, and the other two have limited experience as actors.
The movie will film in October on an island off the coast of Massachusetts. Hey, Wendie, you live near Boston, right? Get a camera and a boat and get us some exclusives!

Alanis made a cameo on Sex and the City as a lesbian playing spin-the-bottle, and also as God in the movie Dogma. She was actually really cute and quirky in Dogma. Her appearance was only a few minutes though, so I suppose it wasn’t substantial enough to see if she’s a great actress.

Wasn’t she also on Curb Your Enthusiasm? Playing herself but Larry David offended her in some way (typical LD) and she was quite good.
Alanis is actually been in a few things and always good in them…Shes also supposed to be on Weeds for 7 episodes :)
I think Lindsay will be the one that is god awful imho
Oh! After last season of Weeds (which I thought fairly horrible, compared to the first three), I wasn’t planning to bother with it anymore, but I might have to watch if Alanis is on!
I know-what the hell happened last seasons on Weeds-I absolutely hated Nancy(Mary-Louise Parker) character-completely unlikable!
I read that Alanis is going to be her(Nancy) OB-so I guess she didn’t fake her pregnancy. idk

Alanis and Nip/Tuck… two of my absolute favorite things in the world. She was great on that show, but maybe i am just being biased :) She was also briefly in Delovely…

I know! I really hope it’s not the Vineyard…it’s already crowded enough, i can’t imagine who will show up now if Lohan is on the island. It will give a whole new meaning to Gayhead.
My hope is that if they are filming in October it will be a bit less touristy. Maybe.

Maybe it’s being filmed on a remote island, so LL can’t go clubbing.
Hopefully this film will give her an opportunity to remind people she can act.

Alanis was in Kevin Smith’s movie Dogma , she played GOD.
She didn’t speak so there wasn’t much to the role. Kevin
had her appear again , this time on TV on Degrassi TNG when
he guest starred as himself making a movie at Degrassi.
I believe that she played the school Principal .
Is the hand on top of the head Lindsay’s new trademark pose? She does it constantly.
“Lindsay’s movies flop as a rule”??? Umm excuse me. What about The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Harbie Fully Loaded, and MEAN GIRLS?!?! Mean Girls was certainly NOT a flop.
Georgia Rule was a flop, but Lindsay was amazing in it! It only flopped because everyone is prejudiced against Lindsay.
But, people need to realize that despite all the drama in the tabloids, Lindsay is actually a very talented actress.
Everyone has tough times in their lives. Lindsay grew up with a lot of family drama. INTENSE family drama. Supposedly her father was abusive. Who wouldn’t be a little messed up due to that?
What if you had to grow up in the spotlight? Do not a lot of people in their late teens and early 20s drink? That’s the age a lot of people are in college and tons of people drink in college. And not everyone becomes an alcoholic, but it certainly has happened to more than just Lindsay. But I think drinking and partying isn’t that abnormal for someone Lindsay’s age. It’s just that Lindsay did it in the spotlight, and struggled with it.
I really think people need to quit ragging on Lindsay. Give her a chance. People rag on her every time she tries to get back into the game, and then they say why isn’t she focusing on her career? Come on people.

Everyone is all over her about what she’s doing wrong. How about what she’s doing right? Landing this movie maybe?
Almost everyone I went to school with was drinking constantly at that age, and now have great jobs making great money..its just an age thing I think
As a side note I would love to see a hook up scene with Lilo and Alanis in this movie..fingers crossed
