Los Angeles Angels Starting Pitcher Killed In Hit-And-Run

I know we don’t do many sports here on Evil Beet, and this isn’t really a tale about baseball-it’s about tragedy. I just read this story and find it so sad. This kid was only twenty-two years old.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a felony hit-and-run car accident
in Fullerton, California early this morning — hours after he pitched in a game last night.
Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the Mitsubishi that Adenhart was riding in to hit a light pole. Three people were killed in the crash, including Nick.
Cops say the person driving the van
fled the scene — but was later caught and charged with felony hit-and-run. The suspect is currently being treated for injuries in a local hospital.
We’re told one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization.
…Nick pitched his ass off last night, striking out 5 guys in 6 scoreless innings. His performance was hailed by sportswriters as a “brilliant effort by a 22-year-old right-hander making his fourth Major League start.”

Prayers go out to the Adenhart family as well as everyone affiliated with the Angels organization.

It’s so sad to read this story and to think he was only 22.
Such a tragedy for any young person to be killed…but especially hunky and cute sport stars.

I hope the person driving the mini van is thrown in jhail for the rest of his/her life.
This is why people need to pay attention to what the hell they’re doing while driving and take your time to get there!!

This is so sad. There was a really bad hit and run accident at my college last week. Luckily they have caught the driver, but have yet to find the passenger who got out of the car and pulled one of the victims off their roof after driving with him on it for 500 feet before they fled. Sick people.
He is my age, and to be a starting pitcher on a big team like the Angels is a great accomplishment in itself, but then to do it at a young age is doubly impressive. RIP Nick, I am glad you got to pitch a great game before you left us.

His parents were visiting from Maryland to watch their son pitch his first game of the season and he had a great performance that showed he had great things ahead in his career. It’s very little consolation for this tragedy, but at least his parents got to see him one last time…
I, as well as a lot of people I know, used to drink and drive when we were younger, but we have all matured and no longer put ourselves and others in danger. I just wish others would find this out, that it’s not worth the risks…
