wow, you know…. i’m glad this post reminded me of how much i like and admire drew barrymore. i can’t really think of anyone else, at least not from her generation, who’s done what she has. i hope the kids who are just starting down that path will at least keep her in mind once in a while. i’m not one of those people who tries to make everyone into a role model, but there is a lot to admire about drew.

Is it too much to expect child protective services to pay attention to this woman? I guess so. If you have money, it talks so loudly that every other voice is drowned out, so then exploiting and/or endangering your kids is no problem. See: Robert Downey jr.’s father, Drew Barrymore’s mother, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, or, gasp, the oh-so-Christian Jon and Kate Gosselin.
