Well, that didn’t take long!

D.L. Hughley’s Daily Show-style on CNN, D.L. Hughley Breaks the News, has been canned.

The official statement from CNN makes it sound like D.L. wanted to end the show:

“D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L. who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague.”

What, they couldn’t have just taped his show in LA? I heard a little rumor that they have production studios there.

This sounds fishy.

He’s not PC enough for CNN, that’s the real reason they canned him. It’s a shame, I enjoyed his commentary. I love anyone that flips off the PC nazis.

I was wondering when CNN was going to see that this show was not working. I tried to watch the first episode, but I couldn’t bear to sit through the whole thing. I thought the show was a horrible farce and it was embarrassing to watch. Who has to watch these awful shows, when we have YouTube? Not I. Anyway, who ever heard of a comedy show on a news channel, anyway? CNN’s execs must have been asleep at the wheel.

His comedy is just ok.. It’s usually narrowed to southern black topics though. It’s good but he needs to try and broaded his appeal. Never saw the CNN show. Can’t imagine him having a serious political opinion beyond “oh no they dih’in just elec a bruhtha to the white house.. now it’s gonna be the black house, shiiih”

  8. Señor Loco says:

The show was simply not funny. It had nothing on DAG’s “Chocolate News.”

  9. veronica says:

I watched it once, and as much as I like D.L., this show sucked. It was time to put it out of it’s misery.

  10. lois says:

the show was innovatively different; for some strange reason my family loved it

It was an interesting an underhanded tactic by CNN. While Obama was making progressive steps to improve the image of black people around the world, CNN decides to put this minstrel show on to perpetuate the stereotypes of black people and do it on a global level.
