At the age of 35 Kate Moss as conquered the realm of modeling, and now reportedly has her eye on acting. News of the World reports:

The mum-of-one turned 35 last month and has told friends it’s time to movie on. And now her rock star boyfriend Jamie Hince, 39, has put her in touch with an agent in New York.

A source close to her said: “She’s always had dreams of acting. Kate’s nervous but feels, with the right backing, she can make the transition from supermodel to Hollywood star.”

I don’t mean to dash Kate’s dreams here, but she has one facial expression. She’s a real-life Zoolander. She’s a one trick blank-eyed waif-like pony. Look at this picture! You see what happens when she attempts to smile! The only time I’ve heard her speak at any length is in those Rimmel commercials and if I’m not mistaken her voice is a bleak monotone. Pass.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ stars Frieda Pinto and Dev Patel

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ – a.k.a. the little film that could – is back on track to win an Oscar next month. Recently allegations surfaced that Danny Boyle, ‘Slumdog’s’ Director, had taken advantage of the young the film’s child stars by paying them less than their due. Boyle managed to clear the air on that front, and with his victory last night reclaimed 1st place in the Oscar race. Almost every director that wins the DGA award goes on to win the Best Film Oscar as well.

I haven’t seen this film yet, but all the buzz is making me wish I had. A sidenote: Virginia Madsen – No. Just…no. That is all.

Telegraph UK is reporting that scientists have succeeded in using cloning technology to resurrect an extinct animal. Shortly before the Pyrenean Ibex or Bucardo was offically declared extinct in 2000, scientests preserved skin samples of the goat using liquid nitrogen. From that DNA, they were then able to replace missing genetic material with that of domestic goats and actually clone a female Ibex.

Sadly, the newborn ibex kid died shortly after birth due to physical defects in its lungs. Other cloned animals, including sheep, have been born with similar lung defects.

But the breakthrough has raised hopes that it will be possible to save endangered and newly extinct species by resurrecting them from frozen tissue.

It has also increased the possibility that it will one day be possible to reproduce long-dead species such as woolly mammoths and even dinosaurs.

 

Uh…is anybody else a little freaked out by this? Seriously, WTF?! The hypothetical (but thoroughly probable) powers of film magic have already shown us what happens when the dinosaurs and the people get to mingling. I understand the ‘ooh and ahh’ factor of seeing a real live dinosaur, but lets face it – people fuck things up. We would never stick to just the “nice” dinosaurs, soon there’d be rogue Velociraptors, and pissed off T-Rexs wandering the jungles of South America eating villagers.

I don’t know what kills dinosaurs, but I’m getting myself a flame thrower and building a safe zone surrounded by half full water glasses.

People has reported that Lisa Loeb wed boyfriend Roey Hershkovitz in a traditional Jewish Ceremony last night. Loeb and Hershkovitz dated for roughly two years before getting engaged in November of ‘08. Congrats to the happy couple!

 I think I still have Tails, her debut CD, floating around somewhere. I played it for some 3 months straight when I first got it.

Lohan and Ronson alert! Whackadaddy famewhore foiled again!

Despite Michael Lohan’s rants about Sam Ronson and her poisonous influence over Linds, the two still appear to be quietly dating. Pics (and Evil Beet reader eyewitness accounts) show Ronson appearing to be alone at her last gig, but the couple were definitely together at the Maxim Superbowl Party so I would presume that the lesbian love affair is still going strong.
