Holy shit. Yeah, I get that pot is illegal, but does anyone thing that this has just escalated to an unreal level? Even the governor of South Carolina thinks it’s meaningless.
Eight people were arrested this week in connection with the Michael Phelps bong incident-seven with possession and one with distribution. Police confiscated the bong that some its owner tried to sell on Ebay for $100,000.
Phelps has not been charged yet, even though he’s the one person in the photograph who is actually taking a hit. Stay tuned. Beet, get the bail money ready.

This whole pot being illegal thing just goes too far sometimes. When will they learn that it isn’t nearly as harmful as alcohol or cigarettes. And they are wasting their time arresting people for marijuana when they could be arresting REAL criminals. It just makes me think that the cops are LAZY.

I’m just going to let this post slide by, way to much to say. I will say look up the effects of alcohol and associated deaths then we’ll talk about the effects of weed. That sounds like half the pharmaceutical commercials on tv. Arrest those people! They are possibly harming themselves!

It’s fun when the users become all indignant when someone talks shit about their drug of choice.
If the medicated refrain from harming others, I personally could car less what they do to their own bodies.
I have witnessed some truly extraordinary demonstrations of stupidity performed by potheads in the past, they are not on any better footing than anyone else that abuses substances.
The exclusion would be the ill that gain a better quality of life from using legal or illegal substances.
Alcohol is a hell of a lot worse because with alcohol, you can become so addicted to it that if you tried to stop drinking cold turkey, you could actually die. And how many people (college and high school students especially) die every year due to alcohol poisoning or some other alcohol related incident? Compare that to weed. I’m not saying weed should be legalized (though in my personal opinion it should. The government could make so much money if they taxed the hell out of it like cigarettes), but if you’re going to ban weed, it would be hypocritical not to ban alcohol too.

With the few genuine exceptions, no one needs alcohol, tobacco, pot, etc.
The biggest problem I have with the drug users, is that they are the direct reason for most of the world crime. Without the drug trade to finance gangs, armies, etc. I can only imagine how much better things would be for the rest of us.
If a person can’t get through their day with out self medicating, get the hell off the bus.
The one thing I always find most amusing about these types of “studies” is that they’re comparing a joint to a cigarette. Of course smoking paper is still going to be carcinogenic. And of course smoking anything w/o a filter is going to be worse than with a filter.
But how many people do you know who smoke cigarettes only smoke 2.5 or so a day? How about a pack a day? A pack holds 20 cigs, right? I have never been friends with a single pot smoker that smokes 8 joints in a day.
I’d love for them to compare a water pipe or a bong to a cigarette. Because I guaran-fucking-tee that water filters out plenty of shit. My lungs would agree.

Your ‘research’ isn’t accurate in comparing the two because it is saying that people smoke pot like they smoke cigarettes. When if fact a typical user does NOT smoke every day. A typical cigarette smoker DOES smoke every day.
Pot and drug users do what ever you need to do to placate your dependency. Illegal drugs equals bad people with guns on the street.
Drug related violence trumps the disillusioned limited personal side effects.

Funny i have had family members die at the hands of a drunk driver but out of all of us so called pot heads none of us have done anything more than MAYBE eat a little too much and get a stomach ache! And we cured that stomach ache with……POT.

with the above argument…I think it is very well documented that smoking pot is better than drinking alcohol. Alcohol is a far more dangerous drug. It just is. Anyone who has even been drunk and smoked pot would agree. You cannot OD from pot, but clearly can from alcohol. You cannot be addicted to pot. I would know; I would have been in high school.
Furthermore, why the fuck are they arresting all these people? Especially if there was only a picture of Phelps? You can’t just arrest people with no evidence of anything. It’d be funny if they all swore they were smoking tobacco (which Phelps should have done)
