Do you remember four years ago, when Olivia Newton-John’s boyfriend of nine years vanished?  He fell off a boat and was never found?  Yeah, he’s alive.  Patrick McDermott disappeared in June, 2005 while on a fishing charter.  In 2008, the US Coast Guard released a report which concluded that McDermott had most likely drowned.  Good call.

A team of private investigators hired by Dateline have determined that McDermott is alive and well and has been travelling through Mexico and South America.  They set up a website called findpatrickmcdermott.com and tracked the missing Aussie as he logged in to the site from various locations.  The missing cameraman was deeply in debt and probably staged his death as a way to escape his financial situation.

Olivia Newton-John, who married this June, had no comment.

either she knew and just keeps a very good secret, or she is devastated. crappy situation all around.

  3. Lillián says:

What an asshole…ohh and by the way, he tried to do what Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy did…so lame.

  4. Down Unda says:

You know you are a loser when you can’t even fake kill yourself properly.

  5. Sarah says:

I’d probably fake my death, too, if I were married to Olivia Newton-John.

Come on, dude. She ‘honestly loves’ you.

  6. Alicia says:

Awww, poor Olivia. What a slap in the face. I would be pretty pissed about the whole thing!

  7. Tracy says:

What a doucher. I love that he was logging in to a website about himself from all these different locales and that’s how he was caught. I just giggle all over about this story.

  8. Fran says:

What a way to tell someone you don’t want to be with them anymore…a simple “I’m sorry I don’t love you anymore,” wouldn’t have done the trick?

  9. Bee Hind says:

Well she’s “Getting Physical” with someone else,
glad she’s not pining away for the bastard.

  10. Lynn says:

They shouldn’t announce they believe she’s logging in to the site as well. Of course she’s curious, anyone would be. She’s been humiliated enough by the douchebag….leave her alone.

  11. Judy says:

    A. How do they know it was him who was logging in? B. If they know where he is why don’t they capture and prosecute him? I watched Dateline about this but was unable to watch the end of it. Was he actually captured or is this just speculation by a lame private investigator?

  12. ThatLisa says:

um pretty much the worst boyfriend EVER. sheesh.

  13. slicklock says:

man I used to think she was sooo sexy. Normally an older guy and a younger chic is hot, but in the case of Manson and Rourke it’s just disgusting.

  14. Just Saying says:

She was smart not to pay his debts off for him. Now he’s really in trouble.
