Quotables

“I’m in Australia, I think it’s important to help out, you know, the economy out here, everywhere in the world … And what’s wrong with doing a little shopping? It’s New Year’s, I need a New Year’s dress.”

Humanitarian Paris Hilton, after being chastised for spending $3,844 during a 40-minute shopping spree in Sydney.

And maybe it’s the fact that I’ve been on strong cold medicine for the past week or so, but I kind of agree with her. I mean, we can’t exactly afford to be picky right now about who’s supporting the free world’s economy. At least Paris is out there spending the money she has, whether or not she earned it. If you think $3,844 is a lot of money, consider the $700 billion-with-a-B the U.S. banks were handed months ago by the government — and they’re still refusing to lend!

Ya know what, Paris Hilton? You may not have gone to college, but you’ve done more than your part over the past five years to buoy the economy while thousands of Harvard MBAs were destroying it. Ironic and delicious, my dear.

I’m normally a bit snarky with Paris, but let that ho keep on spending.

  2. Erin says:

I hate to say it, but she looks really pretty here. She should go for the natural look more often.

  3. Briana says:

hahaha… when I read that quote I was like, ‘thats right, girlfriend! Uh-huh’ as I bobbed my head and stapped my fingers. That is actually not a bad answer lol

  4. pair a dimes says:

she’s not a complete dolt, actually.

  5. Persistent Cat says:

She is a complete dolt. She’s not the first person to come out and say something like that. She now has the perfect excuse when she’s seen dropping tons of cash on frivolous things while people are losing their jobs/houses/cars, etc.

Her dropping 3 grand on a dress is not turning any economy around.

    • Jesssica says:

if you were as rich as she is, wouldn’t you be dropping 3 grand on a dress. don’t say you wouldn’t, because then you’d be lying. the economy isn’t affecting her directly, so why not? i know i would.

  6. Cat says:

I agree. If I were in Paris’ shoes, I would do the same. She needs a dress, she only spent a small amount of what she COULD have spent, and she mentioned the economy to the press. What more can you ask for?

P.S. She looks surprisingly appropriate in this picture. Very nice choice, Paris.

  7. Sara says:

    Fuck rich people !

  8. dotty says:

jesus if anyone knows how to hire a hit man please do

  9. Heather says:

Hilarious. The Australian economy is holding up relatively well in the current climate. If I had her money, my quote about shopping would be “have money, will spend mofos, anywhere I damn well please.”

  10. Serena says:

Okay, I LIVE in Melbourne, and if she went shopping in Chapel Street, she probably might have got 2 dresses, a pair of shoes and sunglasses for $3,844 US dollars.

I don’t see what the big deal is.

  11. mcbiscuit says:

The Australian economy is reasonable stable, thanks very much. If Paris wants to help a country in need, she should spend in the US.
