Wendie, again my apologies. I was out of line. From a personal standpoint, I am bipolar. Like autism, it’s managed, never cured. Three years ago I added supplements, vitamins, low-carb diet & running along with the medication. For me it made an amazing difference, I got my life back. I wouldn’t quit the medication, but I believe the other stuff helps tremendously. Anyway I wish the best for you & your son.

I applaud anyone who attempts to make the spectrum an easier place to be. I cannot support blatant and potentially damaging misinformation. Obviously I have a dog in the fight and want the most accurate information both for his own management and for public knowledge.

But it sounds like people are hating on her for even trying… she is doing something… just because she’s one of the Hollywood Elite geniuses? she can’t do good…I still think what she’s done is amazing; bringing light to it, bringing new thoughts is what you want for something like this terrible childhood affliction that gets forgotten because it is a “quiet” disability. People should be on her bandwagon, maybe trying to reign her ass in a bit; but still not bringing her down… god forbid if it was Sean Penn, Babs, Madonna, a Dixie Freakin’ Chick, it would be treated differently.

Hey, I’m the mother of a child who suffers from the same such devastating disability. So trust me, if her son is on the spectrum, I know the pain she feels when you go through the death of the dream. And having to create a new dream.

But if you really think the difference between manage and cure is semantical, that frightens me.
