Lily Allen Sucks Life Out of Womanizer

Lily Allen has done a cover of Britney Spears’ Womanizer. A couple of things immediately come to mind: 1) This song was just released a couple months ago. We’re already doing remakes? 2) I am so completely depressed listening to this version. Like, get me some Lithium, hide all the razors, I need a pen and some paper to jot down a few final thoughts depressed.
What do you all think? Better than or worse than Britney? And was a cover of this really necessary ninety days out from the original release?

I first heard this song as a thirty second clip and my first thought was that Lily’s voice sounded much better at the low tone than Britney’s did.
Unfortunately, I have to agree that Britney’s version is a lot more interesting and, even though Lily’s voice sounds better, I’m going to have to go with Britney on this one.
Lily Allen has amazing vocal talent. I think both versions are cool.
These instant covers are very hip nowadays.

Come on!! The woman CAN’T sing! At all! She’s not “somebody” because of her vocal skills. She is where she is because she had a pretty body and a pretty face, then she became the mess she is right now, and she is “somebody” because off all the scandals that surround her.
And honestly, I’d rather be “nobody” than the mess she is. She is paying a HUGE price for her fame. For that price I rather keep my own life.

Oh really? THE WOMAN SHAVED HER HEAD IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY! She spent the last few years getting in and out of rehab, she is a single mother, she can’t take care of her two poor kid. She used to be pretty, she had a great body. Now her skin is ugly, her body is a disaster for so much puking and eating crap.
It’s just sad, it really makes me sad, because she is only a year older than me, is she is just so screwd up.

there are parts of it that sound not bad lily-style, although it’s totally obvious that it’s not *her* song. and the chorus parts… so clearly written for britney-style electro-pop, it just sounds like somebody singing along to their ipod otherwise.
lily’s got a cool voice and a good style, so i have no clue why she’s doing things that were made for somebody so different from her.
This is only a record company choice. just like Mr. blue sky and don’t get me wrong. Lily Allen explained that she needed to do extra work for them.

I like Lily’s better. She actually has a good voice, and it’s not auto-tuned to death. I agree with people above that the song itself is styled better for more upbeat Brit-pop, but I think Lily’s version sounds kind of cool IMO. Especially the beginning.

Too many British singers sound American when they sing. I think there is nothing fake about Lily Allen’’s voice, (considering she speaks that way, everyday how could it be fake) If your annoyed just walk away,and stay there.

I am absolutely ADDICTED to the song ‘womanizer.’ and that’s really saying something, because i usually hated Britney Spears’s music. But I will openly admit that I really really like ‘womanizer’ and the whole ‘Circus’ album on a whole.
I’ll also admit that I’m a huge Lily Allen. She has an amazing voice, and she’s absolutely gorgeous.
But this song SUCKS. Hardcore. Horrible. F-. Complete fail.

I like this one! I agree the chorus sounds a little silly, but I think she did a good job.
If you clowns thin Lily Allen is even a mediocre singer, there are obviously several thousand others you have overlooked. I’m really not sure why she is famous. She can’t sing well. And she’s not sexy. Well, maybe to the English she’s sexy. They don’t have much to go on.

At least in Lily’s version you can hear her VOICE, instead of synthesized robo-vocals. Having said that, her version isn’t good, but it’s still better than the craptacular original. If she’d done it slower, as in done a version instead of a cover, it could have been interesting.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Brit, but that song was god-awful.
Maybe it’s the accent but it sounds like one of Helena Bonham Carter’s songs from Sweeney Todd.

The only thing good about that song in the first place is the beats behind it – lets face it, it’s not that great. Sorry. And Lilly Allen has taken the only thing good out of it.
This reminds me a bit of when Alanis Morisette did that slowed version of “Humps”. I think it’s funny. Slowing it really makes you listen to lyrics and realize how amazingly bad they are. I’m all for taking the piss out of pop songs. Good fun.

How LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEE. How dare Lily try to even ATTEMPT to steal Britney’s thunder. Something she (and her publicists) have worked so hard to gain back. I enjoy Lily’s music but come on…you can’t just slap an accent on any ‘ol song (that hasn’t even had a chance to be featured on the ‘best hits’ yet) and make it cool. Boo. I get uncomfortable listening to this version. :/
