Congrats to Kathy Griffin!

The funny lady has moved one step closer to her goal of winning a Grammy, as her comedy album, For Your Consideration, was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the Grammy nomination ceremony tonight. CONGRATS KATHY!!! You deserve it!!!
Somehow the Jonas Brothers were nominated in the Best New Artist category. WTF??? First: they suck and Second: They’ve been around way longer than 2008.
In fact, all the Best New Artist noms kind of suck: Adele, Duffy, Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum, Jazmine Sullivan … uh, where’s Katy Perry? Colbie Callait? Sara Bareilles? Stupid.

Also, Adele and Duffy are both critically acclaimed and amazing IMO. Then again, I’d probably take anything over one of Katy Perry’s painfully manufactured pop singles.

Adele is my goddess. Sometimes you can tell between someone who has Good Producers and someone who has a Voice (capital V). Adele has a Voice. I love her.

I hate award shows cause they nominate people that deserve only a school talent show award, on the other hand i think people like Adele,Duffy, and others deserve the awards
it would be insulting to katy to put her in the same category as the jonas brothers for consideration. i know it’s for new artists and that’s really all they have in common, but still. having her name read on the same list as theirs would be painfully degrading to her god-like talent and charisma.

Um, Duffy does NOT suck. She’s got a great voice and has potential for a long career. And Adele, though I odn’t care for her music, also has a great voice.
And well, Katy Perry is one giant bowl of suck, who will become a “Whatever happened to…. “story on VH1. She’s supercute, but her songs are trite and annoying.
I love Lady Antebellum. Has anyone here listened to them?

Plus I think the “New Artist” category has to do with when you broke out into mainstreamness, as opposed to being Disney’s playthings in the JoBros case. Though they still don’t deserve the nod.

I see, if EB had her way TRL would still be around and she’d be front and center with a bunch of 14 year olds from LA. Stuff really simmers slow on the West coast. Your category is quite telling, sun shine. They’re like Jennifer Aniston with a lil spice (Katy Perry). I know who Katy Perry, Colbie Callait, Sara Bareilles are (I like them to different levels)…for like a long while now. The other people are barely making it huge in the mainstream. I could name like one good mainstream song from each. (If I was 12 maybe all the songs from the Jonas Brothers but that’s an age and hormones gap. everything looks good when your’re that young.)

I’m with Beet, if the Jonas brats can get nominated, Sara Bareilles should have been too. I love that woman.

i can’t believe that I’m disagreeing with you! Adele is just amazing! Her voice is like velvet! Someone with acutal talent that can sing without the help of some major production behind her. Have you listened to her live? And these compliments coming from me… well, I haven’t said that about an artist in quite some time… and Katy Perry… c’mon, Beet… seriously?
