It’s an apt punishment. People tend to think of DUI like it’s no big deal. So many people die as a result. It’s a wake up call: How will you live with yourself if you kill a person because you chose to drive drunk? Someone’s mother, father, child: not there forever because you thought it would be easier to just drive home, it’s not that far, I’ll go real slow, I’m not even that affected. It’s stupid and people need to see that.

In SD county, we only make the people who are under 21 and get DUIs go to the morgue. it would not be possible to make every person who gets a DUI to do that — waaaay too many people get DUIs. the coroners would kill us…heh…couldn’t help it…

Everyone that gets a DUI or drug-related charge has to go to the county morgue, I’m pretty sure. I hear it’s absolutely horrible, and that it smells horrible in a way you cannot forget, and that there’s thousands and thousands of unclaimed bodies there which no one knows about, no relatives or loved ones came ’round to claim them. This is what my best friend told me, she had to do county morgue duty.

it’s not a punishment, it’s a deterrent. a lot of people are killed by drunk drivers and they want to show the real consequences of driving drunk, other than getting fined.
