Chelsea Handler Slams Tori Spelling About Her “Gay Following”

My future mentor, Chelsea “Genius” Handler, is ragging on Tori Spelling’s “gay following” in a new interview with The Advocate. The interviewer asked her if she went to any Prop 8 rallies:
I only go where the gay people invite me to go. It’s not nice to do things for the community only when people are looking. People who speak out for gay people just so that they can create a fan base annoy the shit out of me. People like Tori Spelling. She doesn’t have compassion for them. She’s not going out doing things for them. She’s like, “Oh, I have such a huge gay following.†It’s because no one else is following her!
Ouch!
Chelsea also talked a bit about her late mother, who was Mormon:
Well, we kept the Mormon side down to a dull roar growing up, because we realized how ridiculous and intolerant that religion is. My mom was never really a typical devout Mormon. After my brother passed away when he was 21 years old, my mom turned to religion, as many people do, but she was very tolerant of other religions. It was a melding of religions in our household, which worked out well because we’re all open to anything—and, as a final result, not religious at all. Organized religion, more than anything else, is completely inappropriate.
RIGHT ON.

Chelsea can be funny- but has shit guests mostly so its a pretty thrashy show. Thing I don’t get though- is how she wants to be so pc on gays and then calls Samantha Ronson a man everytime she talks about her? Its not really that funny and Perez is already using that line so its not original either…
Who is she? Is she famous for anything, aside from being famous?
I think those remarks are surprisingly well thought out and coherent though, which impresses me. It’s a pretty sad world when I have to stop to gawk at coherence rather incoherence.

She is famous for being a comic. So she is definitely someone. She’s no random socialite. And she is very funny! And being outspoken is kind of her “thing,” so that Tori quote doesn’t surprise me in the least.

she is funny, but her show BLOWS. There are occassional moments where I have laughed. Soup is ten millions times funnier. Why did she have to get all crazy on Tori Spelling? I went to prop 8 rallies without a formal invite from my gay friends too……. I hope you did too, Beet.

Chelsea Handler is NOT funny. She’s basically a female version of Dane Cook. I swear to Christ… every time I’ve watched her show I’ve been completely confused as to why the audience is laughing at her lame shit.

Handler is cool when it comes to gay men. However her tendencies towards women and especially lesbians is nothing to praise. Her constant and vicious attacks on Samantha Ronson’s (mainly her looks) and her embrace of archaic Freudian thought when it comes to lesbians in general (apparently they are all lonely, confused, etc.) is pathetic.
I don’t know. I mean, defending your decision not to attend prop 8 rallies by insulting someone else seems a bit like a diversionary tactic. The rally I attended certainly wasn’t invitation-only, either.
I like her. She’s 99% of the time spot on, on her show.

Whenever she picks on people like Sam I don’t think she’s being mean, just being funny.. she picks on a lot of people.. the only one that she really doesn’t like is Tori Spelling. That’s not really a good picture of her.. she usually looks really gorgeous..
I used to like Chelsea Handler when she was on Girls Behaving Badly, especially her ability to keep a straight face all the time no matter what.
I don’t know what happened but now I can’t stand her. Most of her jokes just suck and she always has that deadpan look which I suppose is part of her ‘act’ but it’s annoying.

Im sorry. But Chelsea isnt funny. She is just an asshole. She just says horrible words towards people and celebrities w/o a comedic thought. She’s a bully.. who is NOT funny. I think she’s a wannabe Kathy Griffin, at least Kathy’s jokes are really funny. I am not a fan of both but if were to choose, Kathy hands down over asshole Chelsea. This woman contributes nothing to society. She is a depressive that makes money off of putting down good people. She talks of supporting gay men, yet makes that gender comment towards Tori Spelling. She talks of charity, yet criticizes Angelina Jolie who is one of the most powerful women in America. Chelsea, just has a shitty book out, a terrible show, has no real friends and envies those who live and lead beautiful, FUNNY, and fulfilled lives. She is just another celebrity that makes money talking about everyone else. She should be a little more original, than run around noting what other celebrities do. Good job Chelsea for supporting other people who are unhappy with their lives. She leaves a terrible legacy…no one will miss her or credit her as a good woman.
