@ FJK: It’s not much of a debate if you won’t even take anyone else’s opinion into consideration. You’ve clearly already made up your mind and have decided that since you don’t see weed as an appropriate coping/relaxation medium no one else should. There isn’t much of a point to your side of this ‘debate’, other than it is against your own personal values. I think it is naive of you to generalize and assume that everyone who smokes a bowl is escaping from ‘their home life’. How can you claim to be such an expert on the issue if you’ve never even tried it yourself? And even if they are smoking to escape from something, what’s it to you? Who are you to assume that she doesn’t have stress she wants to forget about? I think she’s entitled to an occasional bowl if that’s her bag.

Actually, I do consider everyone’s opinions, but you clearly do not know what a debate is. After they say their opinion, then I tell them why I do not agree with it.. and they do the same. And I never said weed is bad for everyone, just for someone in the public eye. Someone who’s now an established role model.

How could you be so naive to generalize that I HAVEN’T tried it? And by home life, as I have repeatedly told you all, I meant it also involved personal life/anything that goes on at home.

That’s exactly it, it’s my opinion and I have chosen to think she’s being extremely shallow. So what if she does have a few stresses- how bad could they be? Compared to kids in like Africa, I can almost garauntee you that they can’t be too extreme. She’s got a steady career (or had?), she’s got food, she’s got a family, a boyfriend, she’s going to school, she’s got clothes…. She’s got all necessities that people all over the world, even here in the USA are deprived of.
And you can’t say anything as to why they are homeless- most are homeless cause they do drugs. And you can’t argue against their drug use now, huh!!
Oh and as an actress, she should know all about emotion and how to control them. Stress is definitely a feeling. Actors are like professional emotionals. Ha. I mean, they have to be able to experience them all obviously, or they wouldn’t have a career! Acting is feeling, how could she not know how to “deal” with them by now?
It is so obvious Fjk has never smoked a bowl… or been laid for that matter. Why don’t you try to save the poor people addicted to prescription meds…? Oh wait, the government hasn’t done an infomercial to let you know how naughty it is… my bad.
This girl is a NORMAL teenager/ young adult.
Living in Alaska, I know our marijuana culture would shock a lot of you, but people are so down to earth, easy going and chill. I know lawyers, doctors and businessmen who smoke everyday. My boyfriend of 9 years got his BA with a 3.5 GPA smoking everyday and I have a 3.8. So when I see these teenagers on TV sitting on their couches for months because they smoked a joint its very amusing.

I’m sure that film stars signed up to be role models with all those classy roles they sign up to play: dope fiends, whores, wife beaters, psychopaths, killers, pot heads, bed wetters, money getters, moonshiners, gun totters, violent vampires, bad cops, good crooks… Yes, I know. One must be able to distinguish between real life and fantasy life. The same way they should learn to distinguish between celebrity life and their own life or good and bad.
No one is a role model by virtue of being famous unless you make them one. Role models are role models by virtue in it of itself. Plenty of non famous role models change our world everyday, and the fact they didn’t sign up to be famous is probably their greatest virtue. Being famous is not a pre-requisite to being a role model. Exposure is not a perquisite to being a role model. Stop making these celebs lives so easy; when they get the role model status without having done anything but show up to do their job, like the average simpleton, and get paid their money’s worth.
Her roles don’t concern me. Her personal life doesn’t concern me. She wasn’t a role model just because she hit it big, and she won’t be role model, to a majority of people, for smoking pot. Maybe she just wants to act, get paid, and fuck society. That’s fine. Her job is only to keep us average people entertained and , once in a while, escape reality by watching her on the big screen or in the gossip forums.
Personally, I’m over it.
