ABC Cancels Pushing Daisies, Possibly Others

November 20th, 2008 by Evil Beet

Pushing Daisies has officially been canceled. According to executive producer Bryan Fuller: “It’s very likely that Pushing Daisies will end after episode 13, which as you know, is a cliffhanger. But we are talking to DC Comics about doing comic books that will wrap up our storylines, and I already have a pitch for a movie ready to go. To be honest, I’m really not feeling very boo-hoo about it. I am so proud of the show. We put together 22 really good episodes, and there is a lot to be proud of. I’m sure I’ll be working with a lot of these people again, and I would love to do so.”

Also rumored to be canceled: Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone, although reps for those shows have not yet confirmed the rumors.

What do you think?

Will you miss any of these shows?

WHAT. That was my favorite show on tv

  2. Shayna says:

This news makes me VERY sad. Pushing was one of the only shows on that air that I actually would look forward to each week. I’m giving you the stink eye with my one remaining eye ABC.

I will miss Pushing Daisies….this show is inventive, clever, whimsical, intelligent, colorful, fantasyastic with very appealing lead characters. One of the best shows ever. It was story time for adults. The visuals were like being in an altered state…an alternate world. Beautiful…creative…took me places I loved being.
    The Pie Hole…Closed? NOOOOOOOOOO!

  4. whatshername says:

  8. kt says:

  9. MMS says:

Ugh I think TV is dead to me… first the big shot TV guys canceled The Riches and now Pushing Daisies!!! Yeah so I’m one pissed off little girl right now! I give up, why don’t the TV people just cancel everything and make all new TV shows into stupid reality shows since that’s like the only shows that never get canceled EVER! ARG! I’m really pissed… so I’m going to watch all the Pushing Daisies online and cry cause I probably won’t see the hottie, Lee Pace, on TV anymore!

P.S. I will hit the fan if 30 Rock ever, EVER gets canceled!

  10. Sharon says:

This is really upsetting. I agree that it was such a beautiful and creative show. It will be missed.
I didn’t know about The Riches. That’s a bummer too.
I hate that the general population doesn’t appreciate quality programming. They’d rather watch garbage reality shows and 40 million versions of the same 2 crime dramas.
    Sigh.

  11. Elwood says:

That’s it. I give up on television. How could they cancel my favourite show????? TV is dead to me.

  12. SJ says:

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! NOT DIRTY SEXY MONEY!!!!!!!!

That is my legit guilty pleasure show.

And Pushing Daisies was so unique. Sigh. I just don’t understand how those two are tanking and Private Practice, which comes on in between, is okay.

  13. Cor a Looker says:

I adore Pushing Daisies. It’s unlike any of the other shows on television right now, and it brightens the dreary Crime/Drama/Crap in the case of CSI Miami show lines. Ugh, And they still do Bachelor? ABC what more crap must I put up with from you?

  14. treemix says:

pushing daisies and eli stone are two of my favorite shows on televisions, so this does make me very sad.

  18. Melanie says:

I’m really sorry that the show was DC as I enjoyed it as well as DSM that is a very good show too. Now if Showtime hacks Dexter I’m cutting my cable off. sniff sniff.

  19. Joul says:

  21. Gossip Boy says:

  28. Liv says:

Nooooo! Pushing Daisies was amazing! They’re cancelling all the good stuff…

  29. Erin says:

I say we storm the streets! This is an outrage! Two of the only clever shows on network tv and they are cancelling it? Somehow, Rosie O’Donnell is getting a VARIETY SHOW on network tv, yet shows as wonderful as Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone get cancelled??? What kind of imbeciles are running the networks????

Beet, can you please post rally locations, as I am sure that all of the intelligent, imaginative people around the country will be staging protests. Stupid…stupid…stupid…ABC.

  30. Eyes of Green says:

Yes, let’s just cancel all the GOOD shows but continue to put stupid reality shows on that no one wants to watch!! I will NOT watch Rosie O’Donnell do anything on television. GAG.

I was outraged a few months ago when CBS cancelled Moonlight, and now ABC kills PD and Eli Stone??? Actual inventive shows with unique story-lines and interesting characters!! I’m just sick over this. There are some major morons running the networks.

  31. pinkangel8167 says:

I am so sad! I LOVE Pushing Daisies! It was one of my favorite shows! That’s two of my faves they’ve cancelled now. My Own Worst Enemy was the shit, too! Networks suck!! Booooo!!!!!

  32. anon says:

PD was cancelled because ABC assumed that doing nothing to promote a show that had an abbreviated first season due to the strike was a good idea. There was a good deal of hype surrounding it last season, critics loved it and it delivered everything it promised. Then the strike happened and everyone lost interest in TV in general. ABC did nothing to promote the show this time around and people who liked it initially didn’t necessarily come back. Newbies started watching and were too confused to continue. Now ABC just shrugs and says the ratings weren’t there. PD is good enough to save. It’s almost like they wanted it to fail this season. It was hovering over the chopping block right after the season premiere. Sad.

  33. Anne says:

I’m positive about this, i didn’t like all these shows.!

  34. derade says:

Pushing Daisies is one of my favorite shows. This sucks…

  35. Briana says:

I LOVED Pushing Daisies last season but not much buzz about it this season. No way in hell I will read the comic books- I wish they wouldn’t end it on a cliffhanger.

  36. Briana says:

oh yeah- anon has a great point. its like they arent even trying.

  37. Tininha says:

Is it weird to like Eli Stone? I like SO much. Really. Less than Grey’s Anatomy and House M.D., but still… it was cute. Like, growing up to be a nice person cute. Made me fell good about myself. =/

  38. mimi in mo says:

I LOVE, Love, love Dirty Sexy Money!
I really hope they don’t cancel it too!

  39. BLA says:

I love Pushing Daisies because I know how much it confuses other people who aren’t fans. ABC, let them have their Wife Swap and Private Practice and I can keep my PD and Eli Stone. K? Thanks!

  40. Anonymous says:

    NOT PUSHING DAISIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Alicia says:

Oh, no, I love pushing daisies. This makes no sense :(

  42. Dennis says:

    Another fine show canceled!

Have to make more room for cheap reality programming.

    Shame on ABC!
