WHY????? WE CANNOT TAKE IT UPON OURSEVES TO RE-WRITE A TRADITON THAT HAS SPANNED THOUSANDS OF YEARS. WHEN A SOCIETY THINKS THAT THEY CAN REDIFINE MORALS, THAT SOCIETY IS HEADED FOR A MAJOR BREAKDOWN OF THE VERY FIBER THAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER. WHAT”S NEXT PEOPLE……….LEGALIZE THREESOME MARRIAGES??????……….FOURSOMES???……………..LOOK AT WHAT WE ARE DOING TO OUR COUNTRY! WHEN I SEE THE PROTESTOR RALLIES IT BASICALLY REMINDS ME OF A DELINQUENT KID WHO DEMANDS CANDY AT THE STORE FROM HIS PARENT, BUT THE PARENT SAYS NO FOR THE HEALTH OF THE KID DOWN THE ROAD. I never said any such thing, Broncs. Some politicians will hedge on gay marriage, some have problems with the idea of gay marriage, and some are â€œbackwards, bible-thumping Nazisâ€.

Please provide a link where Obama said he would â€œFIGHT against the legalization of gay marriage.â€ From what Iâ€™ve seen, Obama has supported gay and lesbian rights across the boards, falling short on the idea of marriage, yet opposing the idea of â€œtraditional marriageâ€ amendments.

Do you think that we all have to agree with everything our chosen candidate says? Who in the world would we vote for?

Please provide a link where Obama said he would “FIGHT against the legalization of gay marriage.” From what I’ve seen, Obama has supported gay and lesbian rights across the boards, falling short on the idea of marriage, yet opposing the idea of “traditional marriage” amendments.

Do you think that we all have to agree with everything our chosen candidate says? Who in the world would we vote for?

Ah, so when a Republican says they are against Gay Marriage we say they are backwards, bible-thumping Nazis. But when pure as snow Obama says it we make excuses like “he probably is just saying that to get elected, he doesn’t mean it.”

Nice. Here is the problem. He has made a promise to his voters to FIGHT against the legalization of gay marriage. That’s who all of you protesters voted for. He told his voters that he was against it, and that should mean something. So is he a liar or is he part of the problem that needs to be eliminated?

It’s not safe for most politicians to say they don’t have a problem with gay marriage. Even dems can’t get away with that unless they are, for example, the mayor of S.F..

Not in a country that still demands our president ends speeches with “god bless the USA”.

Unfortunately, most politicians still have to play the game, even if it sometimes goes against their personal beliefs.

just because one is a Dem does not equate one to be for prop 8. Examples. Mayor of San Diego (R) is NO on Prop 8. Gov. Arnold of Ca. (R) NO on 8. Gov of New Mexico (D) against gay marriages. You see, I think it is personal rather than political. Some have a connection to legalizing it because they have a friend, son, themselves, whatever and they want that for their special person. Cheney is the exception. His daughter is gay, but she is a weirdo anyway. People pick and choose what they want to believe in. Not because their party dictates it. Yelling in the streets won’t help, but placing ma$$ive pressure on the politicians may.

OK, someone answer me this. If electing Obama was such a great step forward for equality, and banning gay marriages is this huge step backwards, how do you reconcile the fact that Obama is AGAINST Gay marriages?

Isn’t that kind of contradictory? Maybe electing Obama and the ban of gay marriages are both steps backwards and the fact that the guy is half black really doesn’t mean that much?

whatever happened to (some people and celeberties believe this) “It is JUST a piece of paper?” Honestly. Before i get clobbered with comments, I am just wondering that thought. Alot of liberally-minded people take this belief to heart and I assume, that most people that are NO on Prop. 8 are liberally-minded as well and just live together civilly. Am I wrong or mistaken? I understand that it is not right to some and I respect that. But I do have 2 relatives that are gay and they do not believe in marriage that it “pins one down with oppressiveness”… same with a hetrosexual friend(s)… that it is ”antiquated” and “Fuddy-duddy” and too “quaint” and what about all these articles that “Marriage is OUT” and living together is on the rise (for hetros anyway) well, I am wondering and I am not against any one wanting to be together; I am wondering that is all.
