I have reported abuse in the past to the police. They were so ignorant that when they showed up the father said he had not hit the child and the child was telling a lie. I saw the abuse and the child told the police that the father had hit her. The police left her in the home and father continued the abuse. I notified DSS and was told they would get out as soon as possible. DSS arrived weeks later. They did and invetigation and found nothing wrong. I reported it again months later and this time the child was removed. But it was several months before that child was rescued. I think the important thing is that people also need to believe what children are saying. If they say they are being abused….trust them and take them out of that situation.

Mandy – I don’t think anyone was attacking single mothers with boyfriends, but I agree with other comments that most of the child abuse cases I hear in the news is a boyfriend (biological father or not) or stepfather beating a kid. I’m not sure if the news focuses on those cases for some reason or if there really is a higher % of child abuse cases from boyfriends and stepfathers, but there definitely seems to be.

Wow, to the person who commented “but how many children out there, that are born to single mothers, who are in relationships with their boyfriends” I’m a single parent, and I have had boyfriends, but they don’t beat my child. I’m a RESPONSIBLE single parent. I take care of me and my child myself without letting someone beat him. She is just as responsible. If anyone ever raises a hand to my child they will have the police called on them in 5 seconds flat. There is no excuse for her letting him do that. She should get jail time.

My ears and eyes are open everyday for abused women and children. Yes, there are sick people out there still breeding. And, as Hilary Clinton has said, “It takes a village to raise a child.” As one who has been viciously abused I also understand that brainwashing also takes place. The abused often doesn’t even realize there is an option. Because witnesses often don’t take a stand, the abused continues to stay in their abusive environment, and unfortunately unto death sometimes. But today I have hope that I can help when needed, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My God will guide my path to help anyone who He feels I can help!

I was so disgusted by this I didn’t know how I would find the words to articulate my feelings. Thank you Snowblood for saying everything that I wanted to with the same passion I felt. It breaks my heart to know you were a victim of such evil cowardly bastards. The nightmare you endured make your words carry even more weight. I’m glad to see that you came out of it as a fighter in defense of the innocent children of our world who are abused by these monsters and othen end up further abused by the system that should have protected them! Consider me by your side swinging hard.

kids in this situation should be allowed to choose his/her own form of torture for their tormentor and beat the shit out of them for as long as they choose. now that’s a reality show i’d watch.

As a mother of three kids and living in Europe
in a country where it is strictly forbidden to beat children up
as well as in the US, I feel deeply disgusted.
We should care for our young and give them support
to face the hardships of life.
Today I operated on a 5 yr old, suffering from a tumor, living in a home for kids
parents are unable to care for him, mentally ill and addicts
but with ATTITUDE! Of the wrong nature, of course,
and the little boy is so sweet, that makes my heart cry.
Please pray for this sweet little boy (Mario)as I hope the lesion will turn out to be of benign nature
(his company in ICU, are the ladies working at the kids home)
as I pray for this innocent six year old to live a happy and healthy life

its not just the boyfriends and stepfathers, i know my biological had no qualms about beating the shit out of the siblings and myself. thank god for that landlord as you ask why it took him a month but all the time people know whats going on for years without getting those children help

Sometime I wonder what the hell people use for brains . I mean WTF ? They all need to go to jail ! Whats wrong with the landlord ? Hearing the child cry for a month ! Come on ! THey need to be beat with Fucking weight lifting belt . And I volunteer to do it !
