Top Def Jam Exec Meets Tragic End

November 2nd, 2008 by Wendie

Shakir Stewart (pictured above left in September), successor of Jay-Z  at Def Jam Records, is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gun wound.  In June he was promoted from Senior VP of A&R to Executive VP.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

That’s a strange story. He got to the top of a pretty vicious business only to decide to end it all? Sympathies to the family, and to friends.

Some of you people are incredibly mean. Sometimes I am really astounded by your lack of compassion and empathy.

    re; judy

you’re absolutely right. i choose to save my compassion for puppies, kittens and people that don’t care to shoot themselves because they are having a bad day, which for this guy, probably meant his ferrari wouldn’t start. wah! wah! wah! i’m sure the first thing obama thought when he heard the bad news was that he hoped the brother had voted early.
