Victoria Beckham does her very best Carmen Sandiego impression, leaving the Broadway show Jersey Boys, which she saw this weekend with her hubby and sons.

Blake Says He’s Dumping Amy to Save Her Life

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

In an interview with News of the World, Blake Civil-Fielder admits (from rehab) that he’s the reason Amy got hooked on crack and heroin, and that he plans to stay out of her life in the future because he feels it’s the best thing he can do for her. Blake gets out of rehab at the end of this year.

“The first time Amy took crack she asked me, ‘Can I try a bit of that’,” he said. “Crack is the nastiest drug. It makes you paranoid, unreasonable, edgy and totally suspicious of everyone. And you can get hooked on it straight away. But I was weak and an addict and I let Amy take some. I didn’t stop it from happening. For that I take full responsibility. It became something we did as well as heroin. And then our lives fell apart.”

Blake talked about the first time he saw Amy have a seizure from a drug overdose. “I knew fucking then that I had ruined something beautiful. It was all my fault. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my life,” he said. And as for his prison stay? “I just couldn’t believe that after our wonderful marriage — the happiest day of my life — we were going to be torn apart. I felt inadequate. I felt unworthy of Amy. I felt that she should be with some other pop star or film star. Not be with some little chav from Camden. I cut my arms after we fell out over doing too much drugs and losing sight of ourselves. Amy got really upset about seeing me bleeding. And because she’s loyal and fucked up over our love — like Romeo and Juliet — she cut her arms too. I had to get her stitched up.”

And as for their future together?

“There are still reasons that Amy and I don’t like to be sober and if I go back to her I am basically saying, ‘It’s all right to kill yourself Amy’. Even if I was strong enough to resist drugs — and I’m not — it’s a ticking timebomb. I accept that there is every horrible, horrible chance that I could be tempted to take drugs again if I went back to Amy … My fantasy is that one day fate might bring us back together when Amy is clean. In an ideal world me and Amy would live together in a nice house with our two kids and all of this would be a distant fucking memory. That would be my dream … What people don’t realise is that Amy is an amazing wife, an amazing home-maker and a beautiful figure in the home. You would be surprised the domestic bliss you can have with Amy just doing the cooking and caring for you. But because of drugs we can’t have a normal life together. That’s why I have to let her go.”

OMG. This guy sounds like such a drama queen. How can you have a normal relationship with somebody who’s this intense all the time? On the flip side, though, it does seem like he cares for Amy a great deal, and is trying to help the both of them to get and stay sober, which is admirable.

Is No One Else Releasing Movies Right Now?

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Inexplicably, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn’s Four Christmases was at the top of the box office this weekend, bringing in $31.7M.

Twilight, on the other hand, saw a 62% drop in ticket sales since last weekend. I guess it’s not really a family film.

The much-hyped Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackson, opened this weekend in fifth place with only $14.8M in sales, which is even worse when you consider that the thing cost $130M to make. Um, how do you say “humiliating” in Australian?

Milk, although it only opened at 36 theaters, played almost entirely to packed houses, bringing in a $38,375 per-screen average. For comparison, Christmases brought in only $9,500 per screen. Not too shabby.

Britney: For the Record

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Here’s the thread to use to discuss the documentary that aired on MTV tonight.

I won’t discuss specifics here in case people haven’t watched it yet, but, in general, it confirmed that Britney’s basically who we always thought she was: not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but charismatic and sweet and funny and vulnerable, just like the rest of us. I don’t know that it will ever become entirely clear precisely what set of circumstances culminated in this particular young woman being perhaps the biggest celebrity of all time, but I think damn near anyone would have gone crazy under the pressure. As Madonna herself pointed out, Britney never had the opportunity most people — even famous people — have to make some mistakes without the whole world finding out about it. Britney’s been under a microscope since she was sixteen. Hell, I didn’t even really start making mistakes until I was sixteen. Britney still has a lot to learn — that much is clear — but it’s looking like she’s gonna be alright.

Oh, and Papa Spears?

Love him. What an awesome dad. I hope he sticks around.

Madonna and A-Rod Still Following Each Other Around the World

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

This thing is getting HOT.

Madonna spent this weekend doing tour dates in Mexico City — and whaddya know? Alex Rodriguez also spent this weekend in Mexico City, teaching kids to bat at a new sports center built on a landfill in the poor suburb of Nezahualcoyotl. He was invited to inaugurate the sports center by Mexico’s richest man, Carlos Slim, whose Telmex Foundation sponsored its construction. The site includes two baseball diamonds and 25 soccer fields.

When Alex was asked by reporters about the scheduling coincidence, he said it was “very good,” refusing to comment further.

Meanwhile, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour brought in $91.5M from its U.S. and Canada dates alone.

Counting her European run, Madonna is at about $207.5 million in ticket sales and on a pace to hit about $282 million when the Mexico/South America leg of the tour wraps. That would make Sticky & Sweet the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist or solo artist.

Very impressive, Miss Madge.

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller Weigh the Same as I Do. Combined.

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller appeared together last night at The British Independent Film Awards in London.  I love Keira’s whole look.  The hair, dress, makeup.  Sienna looks ok but blah.  By the way, I’m pretty sure she got back together with Balthazar Getty.  Yeah, I didn’t care either.

Also there was Ralph Fiennes who looks really hot bald.  Anna Friel was there in a dress that looks just like the Play-Doh containers I have at my house when I let my kids mix all the colors together.  Well…when I used to let them have Play-Doh.  And Rupert Everett who was tagged as Rupert Graves all over the pap sites.

Kristen Stewart Doesn’t Wanna Talk About It

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Seems that Twilight star Kristen Stewart is having a little issue with adjusting to fame.  First it was the smoking on her front steps.  Now a reporter from Chicago Sun-Times says he overheard her complaining about how she hates press junkets and her PR people apparently have to beg her to do interviews.  Even Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke told Entertainment Weekly that Stewart ”had a lot of trouble [with interviews]. She knows it’s important, but it’s not her favorite part of the job.”  The Sun-Times article implies that Kristen might be medicated when making public appearances but I think it’s just insolence.

I’m conflicted on this.  If you are an actor, doesn’t promoting your projects kind of come with the territory?  I hate sulky actors.  Appreciate the fame now because you’ll probably be doing Lifetime movies in six years.

I do accept the possibility that she may have a social phobia issue or something.  In which case, she should make another Twilight move, take her $12M plus and run.

Above, a clip of Stewart appearing this week on Live with Regis & Kelly.  Right in the beginning, she looks pissed when Regis calls her “the hottest thing in Hollywood.”  Like…pissed.  Also, at 3:08, she expresses major disdain over a clip of Twilight being shown.  She didn’t know that was coming?  It’s kind of the textbook layout for all morning shows.  Intro, synopsis of project, clip, wrap-up.  And I’m sorry but you cannot, cannot hate Reege.  Yet somehow she seems to.

Unrelated, I need someone to email me and let me know how to get arms that look like Kelly Ripa’s.
