Hilary Duff: “Reach Out” Music Video

Hilary’s just not cut out for this kind of video. It feels like a cheap Madonna rip-off. Or, worse, like a cheap Ashlee Simpson rip-off.

uh yeah, this whole thing is just awkward. it doesn’t work with her at all.
it’s also kinda sad to see (and hear) that time has not made her a better singer. some people need to know when to quit.
Of course some of you like the song - because Depeche Mode rocks. I hate it when singers steal songs and ruin them. Although it’s hard to top Madonna’s shitty version of American Pie. She deserves to be jailed for that.

This seems so unnatural to me. And forget that its Hilary Duff… she just comes across as excruciatingly awkward. She doesn’t look terrible style-wise but she is way too stiff and posed. The song is pretty blahh, nothing special and a total rip off.
This is as awkward and disturbing as seeing your younger sister making out.

Hilary Duff hasn’t been Lizzie for a hell of a long time.. She’s been releasing new songs and video’s that are sexually suggestive for a while - she’s an adult now, you know a woman! It’s sickening that people would post this thread to slag her off for being absolutely fecking stunning. Jealousy is a very unattractive trait girls! And regardless of if you liked the vid or not, you should keep pathetic comments such as the above to yourselves.

Think you’re off on this one… she looks good, maybe very good; not gaunt with teeth too big for her mouth… doing that “club style” repetitive whisper sing over a dance beat with the rapper intro/close… not bad… this is similar to what BritBrit has just released… let it ride, see where it ends up.

I can’t believe she did this to a perfectly good song. Not impressed. Not impressed at all. She’s so not cut out for this style.
Well it’s not my favorite song of hers. She looks good though. I find it funny that significant number of people dislike it as much as they say and that she is trying to be Britney. Hilary is extremely well known in recent years for not being overtly sexual, but sexy. Interesting that people think that you have to look like a super slut to be sexy. I like that she uses restraint. To note on the song for her last several releases her target audience has been completely different. They are marketing her towards club audiences, not mainstream. This song will do decently well in a club, especially if they get someone to do a good remix.
I dont think it’s hilary herself that bothered me, but the fact that her voice is awful. I truly believe she has a good amount of potential to do well in other areas. but her voice is just not up to par with today’s artists.
Here’s the thing. The song will do well, for the sole reason that she has alot of press, a decent sized fan base, and an excellent marketing team. She’s just another cookie cutter artist putting out tracks for profit and publicity. Realistically, most artists today are similar. She cant hold a candle to the Sara Bareilles or Amy Winehouses. And this isn’t a judge of character as much as it is talent.
She should focus her efforts into her acting and business lines. Take a hint from Lindsay Lohan, if the singing this isn’t working, back out gracefully and pretend it never existed.

I actually liked it, her music has been going in a different direction and she has grown up alot, yeah it isn’t the usual Hilary, but then again who really liked that crap?

i love this song and shows she got good things to come. i hate that people will not let her grow up im mean she 21 for god sake shes aloud to this sort of stuff. like most people i watched lizzie mcguire and everything but i dont find this wierd she grown up and good on her. i hate that people wont let her mature and be herself.

First off, I think she looked hot. I loved all of her looks in the video.
BUT I do agree that a lot of her movements seemed awkward and stiff, it was hard for me to watch the entire video. And she isn’t much of a singer =/ but she did look hot.
This reminds me of Jessica Simpson’s “These Boots Were Made for Walkin” video when she’s slipping around on a sudsy car in a barely there bikini. Before that video, Jessica was a sugary sweet pop star, whose idea of risque was showing her navel ring. It’s theme is also similar to Britney’s “Slave 4 U” video. These girls see what produces media buzz and run with it. It’s sad that they think that have to be skanky by flashing their vajayjays for the paparazzi and sing overly sexual lyrics to get attention. What happened to being famous for having genuine talent?? While Hilary looks hot in the video, it looks unnatural and she seems uncomfortable.
I think the song and video are decent. Its good to see Hilary trying new things. HELLO! she’s not gonna be 15 forever, she’s 21. She looks hot in the new Maxim spread and in this video too. Everyone talked crap about Brit and Christina when they got all raunchy on us. So that type of response is expected. What do people want, videos with 50 year old women wearing amish garb and singing psalms?! I say keep at it Hilary.

First of all, she is almost a 22-year-old full grown woman, that in itself should be a good enough excuse but because people wont accept that, another reason is that this really isn’t that slutty or awkward. In my opinion hilary MUST compete with the stuff that’s out there right now, and lets face it: Sex sells. Hilary Duff IS hot, and people need to own up to that.

Ok, Hilary has definitely outgrown the Lizzie image - which is good. She’s not being sleazy in this video, she keeps it together rather well in my opinion. I like how it’s a little darker without being Gothy, and I love her outfit. I think she looks like an adult, not a slut.
But the song itself…Until she opens her mouth to sing the chorus, I was into it. But once she reached the “Reach out and touch me” her voice got really weak when it should’ve held a lot more punch, and that’s the problem with her voice. It doesn’t have any kick and you need it for this kind of music. If she were actually SINGING (and I’m talking not quite Celtic Woman/Hayley Westenra but almost) she might sound a lot better. This kind of music isn’t for her voice.
