I’m not mad. People have this idea, reinforced by movies, that it’s easy to operate a gun when in fact it’s just as hard as a knife. Unless you are a sharp shooter who has been trained to shot to kill from a distance, the probability of you being able to shoot and make contact with your target, especially a fatal area–is about 15 percent. There’s the force of the gun that can throw off the hit. Poor aim. Victim moving. You have to be close for the desired effect. It’s one of the reasons why gun use may out number knife use but so do the chances of you being the victim of a violent crime at the hands of someone you know rather than a stranger…the proximity. More likely to be invading your space on a daily basis. Or, you have to have great aim. Many of the gun shot wounds are not to the people in dispute but to the by-standards. See– bad aim problem.

You would be just as effective wielding a knife since in person the victim freezes with the threat of gun or knife.

You could even say easier to use in drive-bys, but with the introduction of another factor, a car, the possibility of a kidnapping would make the knife just as effective.

I think–it’s not that it’s easier to use–but less messy. Less traceable in that sense. So it’s more popular. It’s also the easy access to guns through the black market.

I don’t think guns are good thing in general. There’s the trigger happy law enforcement–that make you think twice sometimes..

Or did you just think I was dumb for saying it might’ve been different if the perp had had a knife?

Btw, does anyone else find it odd that she just got engaged and now this happens? If this were a tv show, her fiance would be taking out her relatives so he could get all her money.

So you’re saying you can’t kill someone with a gun unless you get close to them? Seems to me you can be farther away when using a gun.

I also think there’d be fewer deaths caused by gunshot wounds and more by knife wounds if it were just as easy to kill with a knife. Damn, do I have to back that up with statistics now? You probably don’t care. I just made you mad when I dared to say something negative about guns.

There is no skill or strength involved in using a knife when your body is raging on the same adrenalin which pulls the trigger of a gun.

You do need to get close in either case, gun or knife, to make a fatal wound. So you need as much skill. hmrph…
