Could It Really Happen?

October 9th, 2008 by Evil Beet

We’re hearing more and more talk about Sarah Palin making a guest appearance on SNL at some point before the election.

Lorne Michaels, per usual, is refusing to answer any questions about her specifically, but he’s definitely not doing anything to quash the buzz. He revealed that the McCain campaign called after the first Palin sketch to say that they really enjoyed it.

What do you guys think?

Would an SNL appearance by Palin help the McCain campaign in the final stretches of this race?

    @ Steve Johnson,

I know I JUST told you that I would not reply to you anymore, but I often I fib….. I also told my mamma that she’s in my will….

You’re right…I am droll. I’m working on that.

Your may be short, fat, blah blah….but you have a giant My Little Pony shaped heart and your comments are awesome. They have passion and intellect and that’s why I read them. (trust me there are people’s lame boring comments that I skip right over as soon as I see their name)

In short… If you stop typing comments I will drive to your house and beat you with your own penis pump.

Now hold my hand and lets go skipping on the beach while Beet plays “People let me tell you bout my bessssst friend….”

Wow, I really didn’t mean to start a whole new topic. All I did was say that I believe that man did /in fact/ walk with the dinosaurs.

I really could careless what you guys think of my point of view, but I’m still going to state it. In fact, sometimes I just like to piss you off, because I like what TSS and a few others have to say, whether or not they like me or not. ;]

Although, sometimes I do think that the close minded “bigotry” goes both ways. The liberals on this board are just as opinionated as I, which is fine. With out opinions, beliefs and judgments, we would all be mindless robots. I am not going to sit here and bash you over the internet because I completely do not agree with you.

    October 10th, 2008 at 12:08 am

Keightlynn, you are seriously getting on my nerves lately! you are always the goody two shoes, church lady, borderline bigot. Poof! Be gone!

I’m sorry if I annoy you, but I am really not a goody two shoes, or a church lady. I actually haven’t stepped in the doors of a church in over a year, and I am definitely not a goody two shoes. I enjoy myself a good old fashion late night party and getting tipsy, I enjoy metal concerts and screaming at the top of lungs to anything I can bang my head too. I understand it easy to pass judgment on me because you have never met me, but I assure you, I am not what most of you perceive me as.

But really, if you don’t agree with me, fine, but trying to sway my opinion isn’t going to work, and poking fun at what I believe is just childish. And I am not leaving, I love what Beet has to say. I have been reading this site for months, and I personally think she is hilarious.

  5. Steve Johnson says:

TSS How many names do you have on here. My caller ID just exploded!!!! OK before I get ripped a new one. Yes I made a joke and TSS was the butt of the joke. Please forgive me.

And TSS That song you talked about in the end, well….::tear::*gulp*Tear:: my hand is out…It is kindy sticky though.

Now I’m sad…crap…and I have to go work soon…double crap.

It really sucks when you can’t even have a civil discussion, comment board, without some one slinging insults all the time.

I don’t mind it, when it’s good nature, but some take it too far and only look for post to pick apart and make mean comments about the authors of those posts.

I don’t find it amusing at all, in fact it’s annoying and immature.

I’m not saying I’m not guilty of doing it as well, but it’s a habit for some, and a bad one at that.

Don’t get sad get even, I will be around. I just refuse to talk politics. See that is just like religion to me and that got me in trouble.

My work started on Monday. Being an asshole is a 7 day a week job. I

“I applied to be a telemarketeer. When I called the guy on the phone he asked, ‘Do you have any phone skills?’ I said, ‘ I called you didn’t I?’”

Hope work goes well and you have good, logical, and two sided converstaions.

  8. purplemonkeypaws says:

OMG lol this place cracks me up… @ Keightlynn, I don’t know what you are really like, but sometimes you make me shake my head, and other times you get me all rowdy over something you said.
I like that, and I bet it would be a lot of fun to sit down and knock back a few and argue about our different opinions,
even though I don’t agree with everything you say.

Like I said I really do not care what you believe as long as you are not forcing it on someone. I would like to state that I do not believe the same thing you do. That being said, I did not mean to make you feel bad, I guess I couldn’t hold my tongue. I will shut up from now on.

What type of metal do you listen too? Reason I ask is that most metal heads that I have met have been anything but christian. For instance, I am a devout metal head.

And since you listen to metal, have you ever heard black metal?

  10. purplemonkeypaws says:

    @ Steve Johnson,

Thanks…and good luck with the job, ,trust me it’s not too bad, being a call center employee. Phone skills are not as important patience, that’s key.
Speaking of work, I better call a cab, go put my “customer service skills” to work…ha! that’s funny, I’m such a bitch on the phone.

  11. Steve Johnson says:

The penis pump thing was a low blow. And that joker must have been watching me!!!!!!!!!!!! Dammit all that work is gone down the drain. I was preparing for my “big” reveal.

Now I guess “I will just have to go make out with a squatter in front of Ripley’s believe it or not.”

I like taking one of those air horns like they have on boats and using them on the phone when people won’t listen. Like I said though I am an asshole.

  13. Mallory says:

Its so funny to me that you (fat bald ugly steve) decide to call me stupid because I believe in God. When in fact you are the dumbass that will burn in an eternal hell. I have a kind and generous God who will forgive you for your sins. And I hope one day you will find him. And I, like Keightlynn, do not go to church all the time before you start in on me there. Im not a “Jesus Freak”. But I do worship God, and you better pray he has mercy on your dumbass soul.

  14. keightlynn says:

    @ Steve Johnson

You can most frequently find me listening to Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, System of a Down, Korn, Slipknot, Metallica, ect.

I also like myself some Weezer- “Goddamn you half Japanese girls!” haha… anyway…

Yes I have heard of black metal, and no I don’t care for it. And I really don’t care for anything that sounds like Mushroomhead.

  15. Steve Johnson says:

Thanks Mallory but doesn’t your god teach you not to judge? See since I don’t believe I can judge. But now you are going against your god. It doesn’t matter that you are not a ‘jesus freak.’ Let me guess you drink once in a while and may do other ’sins’ but yet you pray for forgiveness. That makes no sense to me, why not just not do the things you know are ’sins’ and save time. I am just asking. Pray for me all you want, many people have said they would yet they do not talk to me after we have long conversation. Just like I can’t sway someone’s viewpoint, I will never be swayed.

  16. keightlynn says:

“But I do worship God, and you better pray he has mercy on your dumbass soul.”

Mallory, you are my new favorite.

  17. Indigo says:

    @ Mallory

“well its sad to say,but I think Steve Johnson is definately going to hell”

“When in fact you are the dumbass that will burn in an eternal hell. I have a kind and generous God who will forgive you for your sins.”

Way to contradict yourself. Which one is it?

  18. cj says:

You guys (ahem, Steve Johnson), do you have to copy and paste the comments of the person you’re replying to in your own post? (Rhetorical question–no, you don’t.) It makes it really tedious to read everything twice. I can remember what the last post was and figure out what you’re responding to.

Just a note from the peanut gallery. Oh, and I don’t think the notion of being descended from monkeys is degrading.

  19. charlotte says:

Wow!! Forget the whole topic Beet wrote about; reading all the comments was more entertaining. Thanks everyone, involved…I feel like I just got out of a Broadway play. There was drama, sweet apologies, friendships evolving…good job everyone! HA!! :)

  20. Steve Johnson says:

    @ keightlynn

OK so I do not like all of the bands you have listed. Yet I have seen Slipknot twice and have all of their albums. How can you listen to “Before I Forget” by them? The lyrics are “I am a world before I am man, I was a creature before I could stand?”

    I am just saying.

I listen to a lot of black metal. Most are satanist which is another form of religion so that part of it I tune out, I just like the intensity of the music. I have been known to use the lyrics to annoy and astonish peopel though, I am an asshole remember.

  21. TSS says:

    @ Klynn

You can most frequently find me listening to Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, System of a Down, Korn, Slipknot, Metallica, ect.

….throw Sevendust, Theory of a deadman, and Saving Abel in there and you’re MY new favorite.

  22. Steve Johnson says:

    @ cj

Sorry I repost the comments, my bad.

And the comment above to keightlynn….I meant to say people

  23. Steve Johnson says:

    @ TSS

I only like Sevendust’s first album. The one with ‘Black’ and ‘Bitch” on there.

  24. Eyes of Green says:

Man, I go to lunch and this great debate blows up!

    @ Steve –
I have one of those airhorns for when telemarketers or bill collectors call! Great idea!

I’ve also missed the post where you describe yourself as not fat, ugly or bald…

And when you say :Sorry to have offended you. I don’t mean to be this way but when people only state one side and then run off at the mouth, I feel I must interject: I totally agree with you. Although we are on opposite sides of the fence!!

  25. keightlynn says:

Before I Forget is definitely one of my faves by them, along with Duality, and Vermilion part 2. Slipknot is on my list to see.

Just as you stated about the satanist lyrics, I don’t take them to heart. I love the beat and feel of the music, it’s 100% eargasmic.

    @TSS

You seriously have a good taste in music too? Wow, I’m impressed we all have something in common.

  26. cj says:

No problem, Steve. And Indigo’s right–Mallory, what’s up with the kind and generous god who lets people burn in hell? It reminds me of when people say (usually through pursed lips) “I don’t judge people; I let God do that.” Hmm, really? There’s a lot of intolerance on both sides, the God-believers and the non-God-believers. No one has a monopoly on that.

  27. cj says:

Oh, damn this slow connection. Everybody’s lovin’ and huggin’ now. Forget I even mentioned intolerance. Mallory it’s OK, whatever you say. I wish I liked metal so I could join this party. But alas, I can’t stand it. Wait, does AC/DC count? Because if so, I’m one of you!

  28. Mallory says:

He doesn’t “LET” people burn in hell. Everyone is born with a free will to choose. So basically you let yourself burn in hell when you choose not to follow God. And God is generous and merciful. He sent his SON to die for you, so that we all could have eternal life in heaven should we CHOOSE to believe in him.

  29. Eyes of Green says:

cj – it’s almost like we’ve reached across the ailse…

and I’m with you on the metal – I do like a couple of songs from Avenged Sevenfold, only because my son listens to it and he thinks the lead singer guy looks like his dad…but that’s about it. I’m more a Depeche Mode kinda girl.

  30. Mallory says:

And i am not forcing this on anyone. I just want to put it out there.

  31. Steve Johnson says:

@ cj I have an aunt that is just like ‘Mallory’ I have ot hold my tongue all the time since she is devoutly religious. I could tell stories for days.

@keightlynn _ I don’t get it “Before I Forget” is clearly about evolution. Also they are great in concert and Vermillion Pt 2 is an awesome song, very disturbing yet beautiful.

And as for the music, the reason I dig it so much is that I was a drummer for a long time and still have local friends in bands and stuff like that. Eargasmic-that is a good one.

@ Eyes of Green-I am an equal opportunity offender. As long as you are open to discussion that is all I ask. We may not understand why we believe what we do but then again I am not telling you, that you have to believe me or someone based on a ‘book.’ In the words of Nirvana “Come as you Are” that is my theory. I may not believe and that is my trip, but I just have to state the arguments, not as a point to contention but as a jumping off point.

  32. Steve Johnson says:

    @ Eyes of Green

Depeche Mode Rules!!! I listen to it all except COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Metal and old rap are my faves. Along with the stuff that I grew up on due to my folks, Motown and Beach music.

  33. Eyes of Green says:

    @ Steve
Well, many religions are based on Faith and not by Sight. I am sure it is very difficult for people to base their beliefs on a ‘book’, but for many people it is totally fine and actually comforting. I’d rather believe there is Someone up there in control who hears my prayers than think I’m all on my own in this big bad world. But I’m sure you hear all that from your aunt!

Regardless, I respect your opinion and your option to choose your lifestyle. :)

  34. Eyes of Green says:

    Steve –
Ok, I like you more now since you understand the Wonder and Fab-ness of DM! In fact, I think I’ll put them on right now. Always makes me feel better.

  35. keightlynn says:

    @ steve

So what, I can still listen to it. Just like I love the movie Ice Age, which clearly has evolutionary overtones. I don’t agree with it, but it doesn’t mean I’m not going to listen it, just like people. Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean I’m not going to talk to you.

I would love to play an instrument, but alas, I am a lost cause. My husband is a pretty good guitar player, but he won’t even teach me. :/

  36. cj says:

OK, I love Depeche Mode. I have very fond memories of heading off to college with “Just Can’t Get Enough” playing on the car radio. (Yes, I am that old. No, I’m not sure why I visit this site, either.)

My best friend since infancy is a fundamentalist Christian, who once told me (by way of denouncing evolution), “my grandfather was not an ape!” (I didn’t think he was.) I’m sure she believes I am going to hell, because although I consider myself Christian, I am not Christian enough (too liberal, don’t think being gay is wrong etc). So there are things we just don’t discuss although we love each other dearly. Will we meet on the other side? It’ll be interesting to see…

What was this thread originally about?

  37. Steve Johnson says:

@ cj this thread was about Palin being on SNL I think.

I have friends of different faiths but that is one subject we never talk about. It is like music, when we get in a car they can listen to anything but country and gospel. But once they start talking music and they say something I think is wrong, I can only bite my tongue for so long. You being a christian and liberal makes you one of very few and I find that fact good. Meaning you won’t just “preach” at me.

    @keightlynn

I can understand seeing movies and listening to music and not really giving a fat babies ass about what they are trying to get across. But there is a difference, like I would never go see “The Davinci Code” and when someone told me “Signs” was about religion, I wanted to puke. That and when I found out “The Matrix” series is based on theology, I wanted my money back. I guess since I don’t believe I see it in a different light. Not being an ass to you, I am just stating.

Guitar is hard and I have short fingers so don’t fret. Get it!

    @ Eyes of Green

I really enjoy DM since it reminds me of a time and place just like cj mentioned. I feel that way about a lot of artists and a lot of songs like certain cheesy Motley Crue songs remind me of jr high. I will always have an affinity for 80s music and new wave. Even though I love my metal.

And for all of you, since we are talking about religion, I will put this out there. I live in a knotch in the ‘bible belt.’ I live in North Carolina and as you can see I am a non-believer.
