Deeeeerunk!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Here’s Ms. Lily Allen and her cigarette leaving the GQ awards last night. Sources report that she was unsteady on her feet — and that she changed her dress right before making her exit. Hm.

Lily Allen is totally like what Amy Winehouse would be if no one had introduced her to crack.

Nermal Is Going Into the Film Business

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

I know I’ve mentioned on this blog before that the only thing I know about Abu Dhabi is that it’s where Garfield always threatened to send Nermal.

But now I know one more thing: Abu Dhabi is positioning itself to become the Bollywood of the Arab world.

Government-owned Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), which owns a number of print and broadcast firms, has launched a company called “imagenation [sic] abu dhabi” with plans to make movies in the rich, desert state, according to reports in the United Arab Emirates paper The National and in the Financial Times.

The film venture is part of Abu Dhabi’s extensive efforts to broaden its economic base away from oil and gas extraction and into services, tourism and manufacturing.

Dude so if Abu Dhabi wants to promote this new tourism thing they’re shooting for, I have thought up an amazing slogan:

Abu Dhabi: Not Just for Nermal Anymore

Isn’t that brilliant? I think it clearly conveys the intended message. I’m totally in the wrong line of work.

Liveblogging the New 90210

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

OKAY.

So, what’d everybody think of the new 90210???

I was thinking, ya know, I know you guys were disappointed that I didn’t do recaps of last season of AmIdol, so I thought I’d liveblog this groundbreaking moment in television to make it up to you. I decided that before realizing that the premiere was two hours long. But you know what? I did it anyway. Yeah. I love you guys that much. Also because I’m pretty sure I fractured my wrist doing yoga last night, so it’s not like I could go to my yoga class anyway. I’m like the most accident-prone person on the planet.

In fairness, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. And that’s all I’ll say.

I know a lot of you don’t want spoilers because you have it on TiVo and want to watch it later. Let me save you two hours. My recap/liveblog is after the jump. Enjoy.

The Inevitable Helen Mirren Clarification

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I knew this was coming after this shit hit the fan on Tuesday.

“Helen Mirren does not dispute the accuracy of statements attributed to her in an upcoming GQ article,” read a statement released Tuesday by Mirren’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield.

“She merely asks that people read the article in its entirety before drawing conclusions. If they do that, she says, their conclusions will likely be far less sweeping and sensational than those drawn by some in the popular press. She does not wish to qualify any of her remarks. She just wants to avoid having them presented in inflammatory language.”

Okay, Helen. I’ll wait for the entire article. I know all too well what it feels like when people take your words out of context. But if there still remains any lingering possibility that you think rape is, under any circumstances, not a crime, I’ll have some inflammatory language of my own for you.

But just for the record?

I always liked Cate Blanchett’s Queen Elizabeth better.

Lindsay Lohan in Labor Pains: The Trailer

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

What do we think, kids?

It’s probably not going to win any Oscars, but it sure looks like some of the best work we’ve seen out of Lindsers in a loooong time.

Thanks Anna L!

Okay Jimmy Kimmel Just Regained a Tiny Bit of My Respect

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

As much as I hate Jimmy Kimmel — and I can’t even quite recall why anymore, but I’m certain I do — I have to give him some props for this hilarious interview with Lauren Conrad.

Just start around 4:05 and don’t stop until it’s over. Honestly. Don’t stop until it ends. You have to watch the clip of The Hills they run at the very end. The whole thing is LOL-tastic.

Here’s a spoiler: Jimmy forces her to watch one of Heidi Montag’s music videos.

A Modern Romance

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Heh.

You gotta love this.

Cameron Diaz is chatting on her cell phone while her boyfriend, model (and Aniston ex) Paul Sculfor is texting on his.

I like this photo because it pretty much typifies every relationship I’ve been in during the past, like, five years. Like, “Yes, dear, you are very pretty. Now go entertain yourself while I talk to the people whose conversation I enjoy. I’ll call for you when I need you to be pretty for me again.”

Hey, whatever works.
