Chickens used for eggs (free range or otherwise–google “free range myth” if you’re confused) very often look like this. I myself have been involved in rescue cases here in Canada and have seen many, many featherless chickens. See the way she’s walking, with weird, halting steps that lift her feet high into the air? That’s because she’s never really walked before. She’s just had a tilted wire grate to sit on.

my sister and i used to dress up our chickens too!!! we had a special outfit we would dress them in on their ’special day’ and watch them walk around and laugh our little asses off, especially when granny grabbed them and twisted their heads off and they kept running around the yard with no heads and flapping all over the place for what seemed like minutes as we danced around them with glee, screaming, “what’s the matter, got a headache”? . gosh, you bring back such good memories sometimes, beet. thanks.
