Who Wants to See All the Emmy Dresses????

September 21st, 2008 by Evil Beet

They’re all here!

What interests me about the Emmys is that the attendees — at least this year — tended to be, on the whole, comparatively older women, which is fine, but their fashion choices are more reserved and therefore less interesting. I wasn’t really wowed by anyone.

One thing I did notice was poor Jenna Fischer, who has yet to look good on a red carpet, in my opinion. I think the unglamorous, girl-next-door look that works so well for her character on The Office makes her a poor fit for the red carpet. Maybe it’s just me, but I always feel bad for her when I see her at glamorous events — her look never works.

I LOVED that Kathy Griffin rocked the hair extensions. I mean, they looked awful, but mad props to her for going for it. This woman can do no wrong in my mind.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is totally trying too hard. We get that you’ve lost weight, dear. No need to shade your face so that it looks like a skeleton.

Thought Brooke Shields looked stunning and beautiful and amazing and fabulous.

Love Christina Applegate. Hated her dress. Also hated her earrings and her make-up. You had your breasts surgically removed, dear, not your fashion sense.

Who were your faves? Who was the worst?

the dress as a concept is interesting, but that’s the type of thing you should not wear unless you’ve got some curves. I think Mel Brooks looks like a man, and I’ve never liked her.

Jennifer Love Hewitt gets sooooooooo much on my nerves omg..please just LEAVE HOLLYWOOD and go do something else. I’m not sure why, I usually don’t feel like this about anybody, but she just REALLY gets to me. Ugh ugh ugh.

I loved the Christina Applegate dress! And hate Brook Shield’s 80’s bridesmaid thing.
And OH lord…Kathy Griffin’s polyester hair was so bad, I didn’t hear a word of Don Rickles jokes because I was too distracted by her Godiva Barbie mess…

Weird- I almost never disagree with ya beet.

    J. Love Hewitt always looks that made up! It drives me crazy. She is beautiful, so cut out the eyeliner already! I think Kathy looks fantastic. I think it’s the dress, it really is flattering. Jenna just looks so w-i-d-e. Not a good dress choice, she should go with slimming darks.

Honestly, I think Brooke looks like a chaperone at a high school prom. I love her, but I don’t love the look. Same goes for Christina.

Thanks for posting the dresses! That’s the only good part of award shows for me!

  4. Emily says:

I think JLW looks amazing! She is so adorable! And I say good for Christina Applegate for wearing, well, any dress. I totally agree with you Beet about Jenna Fischer and Kathy Griffin.

  5. tigerlille says:

I LOVE Cathy Griffin’s look, extensions and all! The green silk dress is beautiful, even with the organza hip bow. Love that knowing smile…
    Congratulations, Cathy, for EMMY #2.

  6. str says:

  7. Jules says:

you didn’t post any pictures of mariska hargitay, but she was gorgeous!

  8. Jen says:

You shouldn’t have made that remark about Christina Applegate’s breasts..that was in bad taste and it wasn’t funny.

  9. jojo says:

oh your remarks about christina applegate were kind of cruel and tacky really.

  10. Antisocialite says:

Both Brooke Shields & Terri Hatcher looked stunning. Christina Applegate…not so much. Jennifer Love Hugetits looked terrible too. She looks old.

  11. anonymous says:

mary louise parker! it’s not my favorite dress, but the color is perfect on her and good god that woman is gorgeous.

  12. ribbet says:

i’m with jules. i thought mariska hargitay was stunning. would it be possible to add a picture of her. she rocked her yellow dress way harder than terri hatcher did hers.

  13. mobby says:

I agree with Jojo about the Christina Applegate comments, Beet. That was cold–even for a gossip columnist.

  14. Jess says:

I actually LOVE Christina Applegate’s dress!!!!!!!

  15. Señor Loco says:

Have to agree that you’re a bit harsh on Christina Applegate. I think she looks gorgeous in that dress, minus that 10 ft. long sash she’s draggin’ behind her. Sorry, but whenever I see one of those, I just think of all the dirt that’s getting picked up by it along the way. Otherwise, she’s look mighty fine.

  16. quirkygirlkitten says:

eva longoria looks like she literally put her makeup on in the dark, without a mirror….yikes.

  17. Taryn says:

i love how 90s JLH will always be

I think everyone at my 8th grade graduation had that hair

    yep, we definately did

  18. woohoo says:

I’m agreeing with Jen, that was not at all funny and just crude. Your writing hasn’t really been my cup of tea lately. Sad.

  19. jojo says:

It’s nice to see some other people feeling the same way about the comments about Christina. mobby’s right, EVEN for a gossip columnist that’s a really awful thing to say. Just as cringe-worthy as some of the jokes they tried to make last night on the show. There are just some things that really aren’t funny. If she had had her implants removed or if she’d had a nose job, that might have worked, but just think about how incredibly tragic that must be for a young woman to lose her breasts to a very scary disease. And she’s handling it with such grace and optimism. I love Christina now even more than I did before. And she is just awesomely beautiful.

She’d look great in a burlap sack!

  20. V says:

    Too right, Jojo!!

  21. Snowdevil says:

Wow – harsh and thougtless comment about Christina. Maybe EB should censor herself before hitting enter.(or however that works)

  22. lolly says:

beet you even use cancer to get people to laugh at your witty comments? lame.

  23. geminijem says:

Wow, I’m actually surprised at Beet’s comments on Christina’s breasts and her dress. Being a woman, I can’t imagine going through such a radical surgery and recovering that quickly to appear so utterly beautiful at such an event. Yes, as women we rock – totally – and Christina looked beautiful and her dress was a knock out as well as her hair and make-up! Back off biatches – like any one of us would look as good!

  24. Harrison'smum says:

I don’t agree with your comments about Jenna. She looks fantastic and is truly beautiful and not fake like a lot of other Hollywood actors. Your comments about Christina Applegate were quite harsh and unnecessary.
