And everything was just supposed to WORK on the mac eh? I admit the mac is a decent product……but obviously limited……although since apple dropped powerpc and went intel you have pretty much the same hardware as any pc because the mac is now a PC with a pretty white case running mac osx (pc refers to the hardware not the OS)…funny thing is i run macosx along with windows on my gf’s dell because itunes works better on mac (go figure, after all the MS bashing apple cant code right on the pc either) and macosx works fine….but for you mac lovers to truly use windows content without trying to find some crap app that barely works.. (remember the windows emulation on mac days?..what a horror) on most saturdays the apple store teaches a how to dual boot windows class in their stores as mac users are too dumb to figure out the few steps involved themselves..or to simply buy the app that pretty much does it for you…funny how they bash windows in every commercial yet teach a class on how to put that same operating system on your pretty white mac…..but then they did fool everyone into thinking they created the mp3 player….anyhow i could go on and on but at least i gave a solution yay!…anyhow beet…love your site…but if youre gonna bash bill gates and MS all day like you have been recently dont go begging everyone for help when your almighty mac cant simply stream a wmv file….and isnt it weird i can stream quicktime on my pc with no problems?…anyhow in the end windows has its issues as well but if you learn a few things its nothing you cant remedy…but thats the choice…..learn and have the world available to you…or f%^k learning and get a mac,,,cause everything just works right?

Unfortunately, Microsoft stopped working on WMP for Mac several years ago… you have to get a third party utility for proper viewing of WindowsMedia files called flip4Mac.

The free version is enough, since all paid versions are only for converting WMV files up to other formats…

Beet – You need flip for mac. It converts windows media for macs. Either do a google search for it or go to versiontracker.com and do a search for it. I can also suggest that you call a local Mac store and ask for help. I have had nothing but great experiences dealing with the local stores (NOT APPLE, just Mac Stores) here in Portland. They have turned me onto a lot of very cool tips.

I have never been able to get WMP to work properly on my mac, but you could download a trial version of Parallels Desktop for Mac, and then download WMP from that (may need to install Windows XP onto Parallels Desktop.) It’s like having a virtual PC in your Mac for all those applications that are not enlightened enough to come in Mac-versions (ala Oregon Trail.)
