Um Okay So I Guess Bristol Palin Is Pregnant RIGHT NOW

September 1st, 2008 by Evil Beet

Despite rumors that Sarah Palin’s youngest child is actually her grandchild, Sarah Palin today admitted that her 17-year-old unwed daughter, Bristol, is five months preggers.

“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family,” they added.

Um, anyone know this girl’s birthday?

Was she technically sixteen when she got knocked up?

Look how well your abstinence-only model of sex education worked out, governor!

And now you’re forcing her to marry this dude to save some face? How very progressive of you. I’m sure little Bristol is having no second thoughts about that. That kind of thinking is exactly why Hillary’s supporters wanted a woman in the White House. Jesus.

Anyway, congratulations to Bristol and good luck with all this.

Hey Beet! How about renaming this post to “Juneau-gate” ???

You know with a play on Juneau, Alaska and Juno the pregnant 16 yr old???

tee hee** wouldn’t that be funnY?

  2. jojo says:

    p.s. Beet,
If this is gonna be Sarah Palin Day…did you get the email I sent you about Palin laughing her ass off when some radio d.j.s were making fun of her political opponent? You’ve got to post that!

  3. Abbi says:

Um well she can teach her daughter abstinence as much as she wants, that doesn’t mean that the girl is going to listen…
17 year old girls don’t exactly listen to their parents… there comes a point in time where as much as a parent has expressed their wishes for their children to not make certain decisions the kid is going to make them anyways.
It sucks that people made it into a political thing and now this girl has the embarrassment of having her teen pregnancy be completely public and like scandalous. It so so wrong.

  4. Kelsey says:

    Ok so heres a theory.

She looks pregnant because she just had a baby a few months ago.

I say in a few weeks she will “miscarry” because honestly, I really think that baby is hers.

  5. happigyrl13 says:

McCain is a rocket scientist for picking this winner. lol

    Go OBAMA!!!!

  6. happigyrl13 says:

    Kelsey, I totally agree!!

  7. ha. says:

Hey, at least this proves shes pro live.
    gross.

  8. jojo says:

    Abbi,
People like Sarah Palin make this into a political issue because they spout these “family values” and impose them on the rest of society. And if we are stupid and moronic enough to vote people like these into office then we’re going to continue to have these kind of “family values” shoved down our throats. Sixteen, seventeen and eighteen year old girls have no business having (unprotected) sex at all! Yes, but many of them do, so we need to figure out how to give them tools to help themselves stay protected, i.e. by making condoms and birth-control available. Abstinence only is a party platform for the Right Wing Republicans, of which Sarah Palin is one. So that is why this IS a political issue. Of course, it wouldn’t be a political issue for Bristol Palin if her mother had had the good sense to say “Thanks, but no thanks, our family is not in a good situation for me to be taking on a new job at the moment,” when John McC. asked her to be his running mate.

  9. Kelly says:

Just because Bristol says she’s going to marry the father doesn’t mean that her mother is “forcing her” into it. Some girls that get pregnant at a young age still marry the guy because they think it is the right thing to do. I ran off and got married young because I just knew that he was the love of my life and we’d be together forever and we should get married instead of just living together….and I wasn’t even pregnant! Just 17 and “so in love” and overly romantic. Anyway, I don’t know that that’s the case, I just don’t think people should jump to conclusions and say that she’s being forced into it.

  10. mimi in mo says:

My best friend got pregnant & married at 16 & had her daughter on her 17th birthday. And her & her husband are still (happily) together today. She is 35 & her daughter just last weekend left for college. They have another daughter who’s 14. It’s absolutely wasn’t ideal at 1st but it can work & be okay I hope for Bristol’s sake (& mostly the babies) that it works out for them too!

  11. boomo says:

sigh, why is everyone such a little fucking whore these days.
girl is 16 and sucking and fucking and cant use BC or just tell the asshole who fucked her to cum on her slut face.
    sad

  12. Lindsay says:

kelsey: those are the other-other rumours about this whole situation.. i think that’s it’s the most likely, considering that Ms. Palin in is her forties and her daughter has probably been heavily pressured not to have sex before marriage [and she's a teenager!].. we’ll see.

  13. V says:

I don’t get it… the girl still knew what a condom was…why didn’t she use it? I blame the girl, not abstinence-only teaching (which is of course not a very good education plan) for being so stupid… every teen knows that if you have sex you’ll get pregnant and die. Gosh, hasn’t she seen Mean Girls?

But uh, I didn’t get the impression that Palin was having/forcing Bristol marry the dude to “SAVE FACE.” For people like that family, they would want the two parents to be married because it’s the right thing to have the child grow up with the mom and dad married. That’s just what they see as proper and important. I think it’s refreshing that they’re making sure to have both parents involved and have them realize what huge consequences there are for those sorts of actions.

  14. mambaX says:

Alaska must be a cold place
    one must do something
    in order not to freeze
in Brazil it’s exactly the opposite
but the effects are just about the same
    conclusion?
    people are people everywhere
so they tend to play with each other
    and sometimes
    make babies

  15. gumball says:

The little growing fetus is getting to the age where an abortion doc can partically birth it and crush it’s skull and suck out it’s brains. I bet that will all make you ‘ she is too young and that baby will suffer’ worriers.. so much happier. It’s all Obama’s plan that the daughter should not suffer the mistake of a baby., never mind his own unwed mother decided to keep him and love and raise him at the same age. Leave family business to a loving family to handle, until and unless they abandon the daughter and upcoming grandchild.. hum? Better a welcoming birth than a condeming murder delivered.. There is always room for a child on earth., get rid of the criminal evil, cruel and tormenting freaks first.

  16. mimi in mo says:

And to continue from what I was saying a couple of posts above about my friend, her mom knew she was having sex & took her to get on the pill but she (being a stupid 16 yr old) didn’t want to continue taking it because she said/thought that it was making her gain weight. And her bf wasn’t interested in using a condom so they just ‘pulled out’. You see how well that worked for them. But my point is I don’t think it always matters about what kind of sex ed is or isn’t available. Some teenagers have sex, some don’t. My parents were super liberal when it came to sex. The day after I started my period (at 13) my mom took me to get on the pill & said to let her know when I wanted to have sex because she’d get me condoms because she didn’t want to be a grandma. I didn’t have sex until I was 19. I didn’t want to! Probable because my bf had a baby!

  17. jojo says:

@gumball: first of all your post barely makes sense at all, but second of all, barack obama officially commented on the story by saying that this was a private family matter and families of the candidates should be completely off-limits, which he has been saying for months and months since the mccain campaign started attacking his wife, Michelle. He also took a moment today to remind the world that he was borne of an 18 year old mother, so he would in no way begin to criticize ms. palin nor her offspring, whichever ones are hers or not.
Yeah, so before you begin spouting all that crap – which it was – do some fact-checking first.

    FYI:

    From NBC’s Savannah Guthrie
In his media avail, Obama just responded to reporters’ questions about the Bristol Palin story. Noting that his mother had him when she was 18 years old, Obama said families are “off limits” in campaigns. He was very impassioned.

“I’ve heard some of the news. I’ve said before I think families are off limits, children off limits. It has no relevance,” Obama said. “I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. My mom had me when she was 18. And how families deal with issues of children shouldn’t be part of our politics.

Regarding to the accusation from the McCain camp that rumors of Bristol Palin were being spread by liberal bloggers, some with connections to the Obama campaign, the Illinois senator replied: “I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us. I hope I’m as clear as we can be. We don’t go after people’s families. Our people were not involved in any way. And if I thought anyone in my campaign they’d be fired.”

  19. Kristin says:

    I don’t give a shit who’s baby it is, I’m still voting for McCain/Palin!

  20. jojo says:

May I ask why, Kristin? Why would you want to vote for that ticket and the programs that they espouse?

  21. anony says:

Jojo, I’m guessing the answer can be boiled down to greedy or stupid. Maybe both!

  22. brittany says:

    Bristol’s birthday is in October.

  23. Ted says:

This is a plus. As Mark Steyn points out in his recent best seller, America Alone, if our western civilization is demographically to survive in the increasingly “hostile to the west” islamic world — and not end up like the sinking European populations — these are the precise people (the Bristol Palins’) we should thank for increasing their progeny.

  24. CrumbX says:

Sluts begat sluts, the lord said it was so. Unmarried with child stone the bitch.

  25. Crabapple says:

Wow. The Palin’s really taught their kids good Christain Values. Maybe they should really think about sex education in public schools.

  26. newsraker says:

According to Alaska State Law anyone over the age of 18 who has sex with someone 16 years of age or under has committed FELONY SEX ABUSE of a minor in the first degree. Shouldn’t someone be doing the math to ascertain how old Bristol was at conception (the EXACT moment of “birth” for all pro-lifers). And how old was her “fiancee” at the time? If he was eighteen or older and she sixteen… um… doesn’t that make the Governor and possible future VP the mother-in-law of a felon?

  27. Miss Martine says:

CrumbX, boomo was funny and had a point at least, you are not and do not. And as for Ted… fuck off. I don’t want to live in a world with fundies warring it out on both sides.

  28. censorthis says:

obama’s mom had him at 18. he didn’t turn out too bad. and for those who’ve never been in this situation and still think you’re opinion is valid, let me speak for the 17 year old who can’t speak for herself. fuck off and die.

  29. OnlyinAmerica says:

Americans are the quickest to judge, yet we are the first to fall in love with movies like “Juno”. And, do not support sex ed in the schools, do not teach our children about sex, put our daughters on the pill – not giving them a choice (later cannot get pregnant, turn to fertility options giving birth to multiples) and worse take our daughters to have abortions – not giving them a choice (it’s what’s best for them, afterall!).

Too bad the Palins do not force or allow the option of abortion to her daughter to remedy the “mistake” by having an abortion so that she will “avoid” being “punished” as Obama believes (..”if my daughters make a mistake, I don’t want them to have to be punished by a baby…”. Why he would use the words of ‘mistake’ and ‘punished’ with ‘baby’ is absurd? Oh, by the way, a mother still has the full nine months to think about it -p abortion as it’s her right, according to his belief.

Obama is a lucky guy, afterall his unmarried mother was pregnant at 17 and had him at 18 and she didn’t abort the “mistake”, him – the potential president of the United States. She did the right thing! That is why he is not using this situation, as others, in his campaign – he happened to his mother, to him and could happen to his daugthers (probably happened to MFO!). I’m proud of him. And proud of the Palins for doing the right thing despite the judgement.

  30. jk says:

This obviously has nothing to do with the 17-year-old girl (who may, for all we know be a horrible person, but let’s give her the benefit of the doubt).

It has everything to do with hypocritical republicans who who crucify a democratic candidate who found herself and her teenage daughter in the same position.

  31. jk says:

oops, “…who would”. My rant affected my ability to type.

  32. brittany says:

Since Bristol’s birthday is in October we can ascertain that she was of consenting age at time of conception.

  33. maybe its you says:

Hey JK: Love how you ponder that this 17 year old who has been thrust in front of the likes of people like you ‘may, for all we know, be a horrible person’. You’re a fucking asshole, and we don’t have to wonder that. I think your rant also affected your ability to grow a brain, shithead, forget your ability to type.

  34. doris says:

McCain just lost my vote. Palin does not belong in the V.P. office helping steer our country back to balance. She’s the mother of a 5-month old baby with Down’s Syndrome, as well as the mother of a pregnant, unwed teenager. She needs to stay in Alaska and help get her family back on track, nevermind the whole country! Sorry McCain…I’m voting for Obama now. Your V.P. canidate isn’t fit to be V.P. – she needs to focus on her family…

  35. Hermosa says:

McCain/Palin just got my vote. This is irrelevant.

  36. Cafe Master says:

I will be voting for McCain/Palin, not because I like them ( I actually don’t) but because they don’t support the partial birth abortion law, the law, that to me is beyond comprehension.

  37. d says:

How did you come to “know” that she is being forced to get married? How do you know that?

    You don’t.

In fact, I don’t think it is anyone’s business.

People say that somehow this proves that abstinence education doesn’t work. Well I agree. But if very explicit sex education actually worked, why do we still have high rates of teen pregancy and sexually transmitted diseases?

Look, I don’t have the answer here but I am just sickened at the comments some have made. Everyone makes bad decisions at various times in their lives. What separates one from the other is how one goes forward. Do they make better decisions in the future? Do they think about the well-being of others involved? Or do they only think about themselves.

    That is what matters.

I wish Bristol Palin and her family well and hope that she delivers a healthy baby.

  38. woohoo says:

I feel so, so horrible for Bristol. Her bitch mom put her in the spotlight KNOWING she was a pregnant teenager. Does anyone remember what it is like to be a teenager? Its an awkward age and you feel so self conscious. It probably doesn’t help that not only does her whole school know about this, THE WHOLE FUCKING world does. I think its admirable that she kept the baby, but did she keep the baby because she wanted to? Is she getting married because she wants to? Or is this just her moms ideas and thoughts. She can make decisions now but she couldn’t fucking tell her daughter about BC or condoms and their effectiveness. I’ve been having sex since I was 16 and the MOMENT I started, I got on the pill, and never didn’t use a condom. My mom also put me on the pill and bought me condoms. With that, which is working Sarah Palin? Abstinence only or sex ed?

  39. jk says:

First of all, let me stop crying because some random person on the internet called me a shithead.

Second, the point I was trying to make is that it’s not about this 17-year-old girl at all, whatever her story.

It’s her mother who has thrust her onto the international stage, so I kind of think Governor Palin is the the one who’s an asshole. Unfortunately, Bristol is out there to be vilified, canonized, or martyred by the public. So now, whatever kind of person she is, people are going to be passing all kinds of judgment on her.

I didn’t write it as clearly as I would have liked the first time, but you sure did have a completely over-the-top, whacked out, reaction, “maybe it’s you.” It was quite amusing.

  40. N/A says:

I think McCain should have taken a closer look at his VP. Ooops.

Glad y’all are still voting for him so we are still at status quo. I think Palen needs to go home and take care of her family… she obviously is stretched too thin.

    Obama/ Biden ‘08.

  41. Devlin says:

A close friend’s jaw dropped when he heard about John McCain’s running mate. He worked in a bar in Alaska and mentioned that she was quite the “Bar Fly”. She was a regular, and she doesn’t have much class at all. So….this woman is suppose to assist in running our Country? McCain just LOST my vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. mimi in mo says:

^^^ I heard today the McCain knew before he asked Palin to be his VP that her daughter was pregnant but still chose to ask her anyways.

  43. V. Eye Pete says:

All babies are little miracles of life, with that said I hope people who get pregnant let them come to us all and give them up for adoption if they can’t take care of them. I do worry that this boy Levi is being railroaded into a marriage with Bristol so that this presidential family can save face. That sounds like the punishment to a couple of kids who just tried what everyone else does. I would think it was better to just say our family is going to take care of the child until these young people can make a rational decision on their own as to what they want to do. They may have just screwed around and have no idea what love is or if they even love each other.

In the movie Juno, that is what happened. It looked irresponsible to me, the two of them playing guitars and singing at the end, after giving up their flesh and blood without a single tear, but they are kids.

The real issue here is can this woman who can’t manage her own family run the country if death-eating-a-cracker McCain kicks the bucket in the white house. I say no. She really should have turned down this nomination because she need to take care of a family who’s oldest daughter was not getting enough attention as it was. Well all that has changed hasn’t it.

Did Palin fire her employee because he would not fire her brother-in law. If so, that is banana republic stuff and I don’t trust a person like that especially after they try to make us believe how outstandingly good they are. Paliin is a big irresponsible phony.

The Republicans have on a regular basis destroyed opposition political figures for having sex. This is all coming back to them now. As many Republicans are saying, McCain was an idiot for choosing this woman because there were many other women more qualified in the party with less scandal attached to them. The guy has blown his first important decision as a political figure and he won’t get my vote.

And to come down to the level of this blog I hate all Republicans because they ain’t nothing but a bunch of crooked rich bastards and they have ruined this country. I will NEVER Vote for one and I advise you all to do the same!

  44. bandit says:

Hey Beet, what about this –

    According to Wikipedia:

Three days after being chosen as McCain’s running mate, following internet rumors that Trig Palin was actually Bristol’s son, Palin and her husband announced that Bristol was five months pregnant, and that she intended to keep the baby and marry the father.

Come on, this is all just a ploy! Of course they would come to the rescue after that rumor about Trig circulated. Trig could still be Bristol’s son, but she got pregnant again and will give a premature birth on December. It’s all just a face saving strategy.

  45. chiclittle says:

so what’s the chance that Bristol is actually a little less far along in her pregnancy and got pregnant twice? they just lie so easily, how hard would it be to lie about how far along she is? the whole so-called birth experience for Palin just makes no sense.

  46. Angela says:

Maybe they’re faking a pregnancy NOW so they can cover up for their cover up earlier this year, and TA-DA!! The baby she really gave birth to in April is her newborn…. ??@#(*&@^!(

  47. jojo says:

    @V Eye Pete: I think I love you. :-)

  48. Lah-Dee-Dah says:

@ Cafe Master: then you need to be prepared to kiss any other abortion laws (that make it a legal choice) good-bye. The next President will more than likely appoint 2 (if not 3!) Supreme Court Justices.

  49. ribbet says:

sigh. i can’t help but feel sorry for this girl. she’s an average, albeit not so bright, teenager forced into extraordinary circumstances (her mother running for v.p. – not the pregnancy) without having any choice in the matter. if she had gotten an abortion, she would be damned by her parents and community. if she keeps it, she becomes the laughing stock of sites like this and grist for the political mill.

i have been undecided with regard for whom i am going to vote in november. if obama AND his staff refuse to use this girl’s situation for his gain, he may very well receive my vote. (i really need to look into his voting records in illinois before i make a final decision.) however, this election is bigger than this girl’s uterus. there are actual serious issues out there that should be discussed: healthcare, the economy, oh, and those little things called the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, let’s not get distracted folks.

however, after reading many posts here and on other sites i’m left with a couple of questions:

    1. why is it that whenever male politicians’ children make massive personal mistakes, they are never told to leave office to take care of running their families? i really believe that the sexism that still exists in this day and age is so pervasive that many people don’t even notice it anymore.

    2. why in this day and age is the girl the only partner responsible for birth control and the “shame” of the unwanted teenage pregnancy? last time i checked it still takes 2 to tango.

  50. Merc says:

@ Ribbet: you read my mind. I take comfort in thinking it’s probably the older women who say she should go home and take of her family, b/c that’s what they were forced to do. You know, the ‘give up all your dreams and ambitions to be a good mother’ victims.

@V Eye Pete: you say your family will take in all children who are unwanted. Um, what are you doing about the thousands of children in foster homes all around the nation RIGHT NOW? You are literally encouraging young people to not clean up the messes that they make. Unplanned pregnanies aren’t good, but the responsible thing to do is to put emotions and lovey-dovey hormones aside and make the logic right decision.
I scaped my leg the other day and after waiting a little for the wound to close and the bleeding to stop, I put alcohol on it- because even though it HURT FOR THAT MOMENT, I knew it was the right thing to do and that overall this is the best decision. Otherwise, young poeple, especially the young women physically going through the experience, become slaves to their own bodies. Your teaching young women to let uteruses dictate their lives (and guys sperm).
