Jon and Kate Plus Eight Gets Nasty: Aunt Jodi Tells Her Side
August 23rd, 2008 by Evil BeetYou guys may or may not have noticed, but a certain page of this blog has, in the past months, somehow become a de facto discussion board for Jon & Kate Plus 8 fans (and critics). If you don’t believe me, click here and read the comments.
A popular point of discussion over there is a blog called Truth Breeds Hatred, which is supposedly written by the sister of Aunt Jodi, who is married to Kate Gosselin’s brother. If you watch the show, you know that Aunt Jodi was very involved in the first seasons of the show, basically bending over backwards to accommodate Kate’s every babysitting need — sometimes watching all eight of the Gosselin kids, overnight, in addition to her own four children. For free! And then when she didn’t show up in the most recent season, people started suggesting that Kate was bitter because Jodi’s patient and kind mothering skills were making Kate look awful in comparison, and also noting that the producers offered to pay Jodi for appearing on the current season — she had been doing all of this shit for free up until then — but that Kate put her foot down, said “no one gets paid for this show except our family” and booted Aunt Jodi out of the kids’ lives.
The Truth Breeds Hatred blog discusses all this from an insider’s perspective — confirming the rumors and basically painting Kate as the most horrid, despicable, selfish person on the planet. But was the blog really written by Jodi’s sister? Were the things she said about Kate actually true?
Today, Truth Breeds Hatred ran a video clip of Jodi, who seems genuinely crushed by how Kate betrayed her, and confirming that her sister does write the blog, and that it’s the truth.
I kind of hate how fascinated I am to watch all this play out, but I really do love it.

I just got finished getting caught up on the most recent commnets. And some of you Jon supporters are nuts. Jon, give me a tiddie to suck on because I’m a big freaking baby, Gosselin could care less about the families privacy… All he is worried about is his own or rather the fact that his cheating ass got caught!
Jon chose to stay at home. Jon chose to stay on the phone and peddle his kids for free stuff while at work and got fired. Jon chose to dress like a juvenile and wear big diamond ear rings and Jon chose to sleep with Deanna Hummel…
He is the one feeling that he is entitled.
He has had the oportunity none of us has had. He gets to stay at home and raise his kids. He gets to live in a mansion. He gets to make tons of cash by doing nothing other than be himeself, or rather be the person people want to watch on TV. He may have to live with Kate but there are wose things. Living on the steets, not having food to eat. NOT BEING ABLE TO BUY CLOTHS OR FOOD OR SHELTER FOR YOUR KIDS…
So what is it called? Oh yea, the sweet life….

There are a lot of privileged people in the world and there are a lot of poor people. I grew up poor, now I live a middle class life. I have worked hard all my life and have tried to always help others. I don’t begrudge them having things. But it’s the attitude of Kate when Jon wanted to quit the show and Kate said,”I like what I’m doing. I have always said and I repeat for the tenth time, Jon should have manned up a long time ago. This show has become about money, they have more then enough money to live on for the rest of their lives. Yet Kate wants to continue on so she can provide for her kids.. She should teach them to work for what they get in life. Kate should also pay back the hospital over a million dollars for her kids care after they were born. I’m sure there are some people who are living on the streets that could use some of that free hospital care……And before Jon and Kate got married Jon wore earrings and you weren’t there, how do you know if he cheated on Kate? My husband wears a earring big deal, so do a million other men in this country. All we are saying on this site is that Jon is the lesser of two evils……..
For me this is not about Jon & Kate and never was. I tuned in to see the kids. It doesn’t matter what the adults do to each other. It’s still about the kids for me.
Jon loves the kids. He would have enjoyed them if he would have been allowed. As a PARENT, Jon is much better than Kate. He was willing to allow the kids to explore the world, eat candy, get dirty, touch him. Even when it came to buying the kids beds he got it right. He said he would have bought white for the girls and pine for the boys and been done with it.
Kate’s book’s were written by Beth Carson. Kate and jon are also on the book as co-writers. Beth is the wonderful friend who has the big house and let Jon and kate have their picture’s taken there. remember they offerd their home and we took their offering to have them done here. Kate said it. People offer and she takes. Everyone wonders where Kate’s friend has gone. Maybe she too has been dismissed into the black hole where people who help Kate are sent. She used Beth to help put together a book about her life. Maybe Beth wanted to get paid, maybe she wanted to be reconized as a co-author. One will never know in Life according to Kate.
Why doesn’t someone step in and help these parents. Someone stepped in and helped Kate with her tummy., and someone stepped in for Jon’s hair. Why doesn’t someone with some kind of marriage counseling help these parents. They have been thru alot. Not just having the six babies but then thrown into the media. Please someone help them.
It’s clear that Jon doe not want help. He’s off enjoying himself like a guy just graduating high school!!!
I think it was wrong for little miss so called family (aunt jodi) is wrong for what she did. She was trying to be so nice but yet when things got ruff between jon and kate the first person to talk crap was her. She just wonted some tv time. If i was kate family or not what she did was wrong and family doesnt do that to each other. Next time tell it to her face if you what to talk crap about them dont put it on tv for your pleasure.
Becky-How do you know that Jodi and Kevin didn’t talk to them face to face. They had both tried to warn Kate as to what they saw happening and what the kids had been telling them about not wanting the cameras around all the time. I think Kate not wanting TLC to pay her brother and sister-in-law after 4 seasons of helping them out with the kids and everything else for free kinda shows the world how much Kate doesn’t love her family. Becky if you had a television show and after 4 seasons of your family helping you all the time would you be mad if you had to share part of your $75′000 Per episode? I know I wouldn’t have. In fact I would have insisted on sharing my blessings with the family I love….
I agree Aunt Jodi needs to keep her nose out of their affairs, the children aren’t being beaten, they have a beautiful home, clothes to wear, food on the table, Aunt Jodi needs to from something constructive to do.

It is great that the kids have clothes, food, toys and a beautiful home, but what about the fact that they have had cameras following them for most of their life. Kate once said they have “never stopped filming” since they started.
How do you think other kids view them? When they go off to school.. other kids will know them, know everything about them. It isn’t healthy for kids to be “on camera that much”. I do believe that Aunt Jodi is looking out for them, but they need to stop going in front of the camera themselves and saying this.
So.. kate needs to provide for her family. This year aren’t all the kids in school? Why can’t she go back and work as a nurse for a few hours a week, while the kids are in school? She won’t because she loves what she has created. She loves having cameras following her and all the fame that has come with it.
Her tears on camera .. some i believe are real.. but most I think aren’t real. Yeah it is very sad.. but if you look back at the past year episodes.. they both look miserable.. and this was going to happen!
Jodi took care of all the kids plus her own once a week so Kate could have a break. Boy i wish I had a sister in law like that. Kate’s just a selfish bitch. “mine all mine”.
Jon and Kate are a product of these days; Jon has everything to succeed in life yet he choose not to. He has the laid back attitude typical of people these days, lack of energy, strength and patience, (remember being quiet does not mean being patient) qualities that were a staple in parents years ago. Kate went from the humble gal in the first episodes (remember her keeping food stamps) to a money hungry machine that will not stop until gets or believe to get all the money that is possible. Nobody told her that hitting her husband even as a game repeatedly in many episodes was just deteriorating her relationship, and that is what happened. I can see yet a fiber of goodness that may fix this relationship, I mean the Kids there will be at least one or two that will bring them back together or at least they will try their hardest. Jon enjoy your plush life but mature fast and get back where you really belong, with your family and I mean whole family, be a man at last.
Looks like jon has a new girlfriend. It’s kate’s tummy tuck dr’s daughter. I thought that they didn’t have any kids??? Check it out on people.com
I’ve never watched the show, nor will I. I honestly feel that Jon & Kate are exploiting their children…more so now that they’re “divorcing” “separating” call it what you will…from what I’ve heard and or read Jon & (especially) Kate need to get their priorities in order…Kate is playing the Prima Donna…and Jon…doing the thing in France…gimme a freakin’ break…real people don’t get to do those things…especially people with “real lives”

One question, why does Kate have a picnic on her front lawn she has 20 some odd acres? Yet she picks the front lawn so the photogs can snap her? I just dont get it .OHHH one more thing .. does anyone think Jon’s new gf looks like Kate in some odd way?

I cannot believe Kate would not allow anyone get paid who appeared on the show. They do it for other shows. Kate said that it exploited the kids. Well if it wasn’t for the kids, Jon and Kate, would not be getting free vacations, dinners, clothes etc. They would not be living in a million dollar home, free cars, motorcycles, toys for kids, tummy tuck, and hair transplant for Jon. People quit giving these millionaires free stuff.
I no longer watch the show. It is not the same. She talks about how the kids think she is wonderful, how she is not at fault, and so on. I am mad at Jon for not standing up to her, and telling her to not talk and treat him like that. He is just as responsible as she is for the downfall in the family. It is not the same anymore. I now watch 18 kids and counting. What a kind and loving family.

I agree with you Renee I like 18 kids and counting. I also like the couple on WE that have sextuplets. Those little ones get to be kids, it’s fun to watch them having fun being kids. They don’t have them dressed so they can’t get dirty…
I agree maybe they should have a reality show on families who live ordinary lives that dont put on a show for the money. People who really could use th money for real life reasons.Such as household bills, medical bills ect.

I feel so sorry for those kids, the parents seem to think that “things” will make them happy instead of a healthy happy home life. One parent comes home and the other leaves? young women are only interested in short and ordinary looking men because of money and fame. John is fooling himself if he thinks that she is interested in him. Fact is down the track she will be nagging him just like Kate does. Because like all ‘easy going’ men that is usually a cover for irresponsibility and lazziness and they look for a women to make all their decisions and keep thier world in order and then they complain abourt if. He is a fool who has been taken in the wrong direction because of his ego. Famous saying any man can sleep around it takes a real man to stay married to one women all his life.
Well, I was just thinking about this.. Jon said in an interview or talking to the photogs….she is an old family friend. Well for gosh sakes Kate the tummy tuck when .. the kids are only 5! sooo she is 22 .. he knew since she was what…. 16-17? sick!They are both nuts, the older girls have clearly stated they dont want cameras….. but Kate says” The show must go on” …….for the $$$$$ and things. I’m not going to tune into ANY shows that exploit young children for money. The kids have no say in what is happening to them.
What ever happened to parents raising their kids with the help of family instead of having kids and dipping into the pockets of shows that produce extremely bottom level, brainless TV shows?
My grandmother had 18 kids, they grew up to be doctors, nurses, own businesses and some were just good parents. They did it on my grandfather going into the coal mines for a living and my grandmother sewing & doing laundry at home. All 18 kids respected them and loved them.
Already we see Maddy telling her mother she is mean. What she really meant was her mother was selfish when she denied her water while getting some for herself. This is not entertaining. It’s not good for families to tune into this and think it’s entertaining.
Holee, I agree in everything you said. Maybe more people will NOT watch , youre right its not entertaining. I will not watch Jon and Kate plus no brains in their heads ever again. Somone else posted awhile back Kate went from clipping coupons yelling at Jon for not using them. Remeber that show she screamed and went nuts on him I could barely watch it, she wanted that reciept and she wanted it NOW so she could get a refund. I hope someone from TLC watches the blogs and knows how us the viewers feel. Axe the show ! Cut the parents off from using thier children to get them wealth and celebrity.
I think some people are missing the point .. why they want money (after being offered some by TLC) as nothing to do with the kids.
See if your brother or sister or best friend would make millions of $$$
with a show that you helped promote in any way (babysitting,show your house ,taking care of the kids ,give your opinion ,show your face ,
give away a bit of your privacy ..) you would be entitled to some sort of compensation . You would be part of the show and TLC ( like they did) would offer you a paychek its just normal and logical.
Some people say : why didnt they come out sooner with all these allegations … maybe they didnt know how to deal with all that. I mean it took us a couple of years to realise that they were lying and probably faking a lot of it .. just knowing that they make 75 000 $ per episode and still act like they need the money for the kids is really disturbing !! I didnt watch every episode since the beginning but i watched a lot and it would of been great it they would of stopped right after knowing that they had enough for college education and grocery shopping for a lifetime ! Who needs 10 millions and more to raise 8 kids ??? That is insane ! But i guess the more you make the bigger you buy and then of course the payments are even more bigger !
One final comment : What is the purpose of the show again ? to show us how to live and deal with a big family … if its true that they already had an agreement for college education everything was already paid by the state or whatever .. why need all that money ? I am from montreal canada and i heard a lot of things about the dionne 5 .. it was so sad and they never had a normal life .. imagine now with the internet how these kids will be in just about 10 years from now !! the paparazzis can be very patient look what happened with prince william and prince harry … they waited 20 years !! but they better not spit on the sidewalk now because it will be news .. imagine those poor kids !!
brigitte , agreed .. great points. We cant forget that Kate thinks she is entitled to all of this cuz she had mulitples , which is crazy. Just like Holee said in a previous post her Grandmother had many children without any handouts. I just keep stating here , I hope more and more people dont watch the show, the ratings go down and they loose the show. How do other single moms survive they get a job! Since Kate had all these kids she has had nothing but help and handouts from her friends neighbors and the show. Like you said I was aware those kids already had their education taken care of since birth. This is all icing on the cake for Kate and Jon. Their egos are so far gone. Are they realling thinking of their kids? I think not…. money and things is what they care about .
How in the world can Jon Gosslin afford that new apartment in Manhattan, NY. He is spending this money like water. I hope they have put some of the money away for the kids since they earned it.

Its one thing to win the lotery and let it go to your head or lets say you have a really good job and make a lot of money who are we to tell you how to spend it right ? but in their case its different .3 or 4 years ago they needed all the money and help they could get with 8 kids..
if their marriage would of stayed strong and if they (kate mostly)would of been more gratefull ,kind,generous and honest … i would of said :you are millionaires now ? good for you !!! the more you have the more you can give and you can share with the people you love .. and charity …but now i take it personnal because i felt for these people and i honestly watch television only about 2 or 3 hours a week maximum ( i dont count hockey of course .. being french canadian its my religion !!)
i feel like the time i spent with them in my living room was a big lie and i feel for the people who didnt have much to give but sended them money prayers and articles for the kids .. is that a way to thank them?

Times are hard now with the economy and people need to relate to something honest when its on a family channel like tlc.
One last thing: i remember in the beginning of the show when kate was kind of nice .. one time she received some stuff from some people across the country and someone asked her a question and she said something like: sure i am gonna keep them if they WANNA send things to me !! It was not in a very appreciative tone it was more like saying :if your stupid enough to send it to me i will take it ! I still remember that from years ago and i am a very sensitive person and i dont know why this stupid show is getting to me ..why i am here kind of wasting my time .. i think something is very wrong with this picture and FRAUD is a word i think we may hear one day.
brigitte, Oh I feel just like you , Im not jealous of thier money and Im all for someone having something and being happy for them, but how youve explained itt is exactly right. Fraud IS a good word here . Thier spirits are all wrong and seem in the wrong place. I guess for us to vent here and put into words how we feel helps us. We ( who wachted the show) did spend alot of time a week watching and “rooting” for the couple with not so much money to make it through and fight the fight of everyday living. I know in my heart I felt OH they get to have organic meat , Im sooo happy for them. But come to find out thats was what Kate the show to give them! Like the bunk beds, white teeth, tummy tuck, hair transplants and many trips ( Hawaii ) what a farse that turns out to be. Im just going to do my part to watch and make the ratings high, so they get more money . Im for closing the show down. Give the kids somewhat of a normal life with no cameras.

Jon is a dog any way you slice it. So what if Kate put him down and / or stayed on his ass… I think he has probably been doing the drugs for a long time which will make you lazy. She is now just making sure she can make the best life for them as she can. She knows she will not be able to count on Jon all of the time and it’s just going to get worse with him.
Once the show is over his visits will be fewer and fewer. Until he isn’t there hardly at all. And the kids, especially Alexis, really is attached to him. Did you see at the B-Day party where she told him she didn’t want him to go away any more??? It was so sad..

If you and the others like you really feel this show is all about the kids, you’ll BUTT OUT now that the show isn’t airing!! Let the kids try to pick up the pieces of what’s left of their private lives. Watching this show has become the equivalent of voyeristic perversion, and the “chatter tongue gossip” site you mention is not much better (although it does at least have some other topics). Watching this family in its death throws is what’s sad…

Big Daddy…your’re a fool if you are on the side of either parent. Your example of Alexis is a perfect reason for everyone to never watch this show again. This is about the children, exploited and now filming their most painful moments, the dirty distruction of their family unit.
I dread Aug3rd when they will try to put the show back on TV. I will program my TV without TLC because I refuse to have this awful display shoved down my throat. I will miss the other shows like What not to wear, but until I read that the show has been canceled and ALL reruns stopped, TLC will not be part of my life.
Until everyone stops talking about the two awful parents, these children will continue to be exposed to seeing their lives torn apart. Who cares what Kate & Jon do…I so pity these children.

Jon does not care about what this is doing to his kids or he would not be so public about his new love affair, have a litle bit of decency! I can not possibly watch the show again as the whole thing must have been a joke from the beginning. I know Kate was not always the nicest wife to him on the show but he should have stood up to her off camera and told her how it made him feel, however Im sure the bickering helped the ratings. Not that it matters to anyone except me but I have no respect for Jon at all and I hope that TLC has the guts to take the show off the air so Kate and the kids can get on with their lives in privacy. Jon go back to work and stop spending money made at your childrens expense, but i guess people magazine paid you well for your recent article. Wonder where your 23 yr old girlfriend will be when your hair starts falling out again.
Maybe this new 23 year old won’t MAKE his hair fall out. Jon has as much of a right to happiness as the next person. It won’t be long before Kate announces her engagement as well, just watch and see. She just has enough sense to do it in the right way — timing is everything. She wants to make sure she gets all she can from playing the victim card first…

Anyone with a half a brain can see how Kate is a witch….I don’t know how she acted when they 1st got togather but if it is how she’s been for the last 4 years he was crazy…He should have known what he was getting himself into…She’s always complaining about how much she has to do well she is the one that wantd more children after the twins…Why hasn’t the department of Human Services stopped this “circus”…I could care less about either adult but thoe 8 children are going to have a hard time…Mady is already acting like Kate being a witch…I pray for the the kids they are going to need it with parents like Jon & Kate….I hope her security guard sees how she acts in time before he is in a BAD SPOT…..
All of this publicity is making them more and more money! IT IS SICK! These poor kids that have had cameras on them since birth, do u really think they enjoy this. If you ever look at all the “loving” family pics half of the time the kids aren’t even happy or smiling. Give it a rest already! You want reality then get real jobs, pay your own bills and actully feel good that you can support your kids on your dime-not ours !! ALL I can think of is when Kate and Jon are the chair for their “interviews” or whatever you call them thru the shows … and all she does is correct his english or his sentences… but if HE says something she goes nuts. SOOOOOooooo TOTALLY AGREE!!! This show has gone waaaay beyond entertainment and into the territory of just plain wrong for the children. Maybe TLC has earned its name “The Learning Channel” afterall — learn how to wreck a family, learn how to screw up kids… I’ve learned how to change the channel, which is what I’ve done. After watching the old shows it’s hard to believe what has happened to this family in such a short time. Jon and Kate sitting close in the interview chair, arms interlocked and kate’s love taps to jon. And now divorce. Hard to believe what money and fame can do to a family. I too will not watch the new episodes in August. Enough is enough.

I was thinking the same thing.Remember the show when they moved to the new house and got the puppies they showed alot of the memories from the old house, what the kids had done and gone through. Maybe it was ALL a lie way back then too.with Jon and Kate and their realionship. Oh well, they got what they wanted … Money and Things. I saw online something about the kids are sad.. well heck ya they are…. one parent comes home and one leaves. Wont watch.. in August…

Ok i just watched the episode when Jon got the hair transplant. Tell me why wouldn’t they cancel this procedure if the kids were that sick. Come on it doesn’t take a genius to realize that most of there tribe are very sick as well as aunt jodie’s kids. I never left the house when my kids were sick at that age. Are they that gready?? Never mind don’t answer that.
Ok, I don’t know about you guys but Jon Gosslin has my head spinning. He’s in the news again! He now has a new women named Kate. And she’s very young! And now he’s hanging out in the Hamptons. What about hanging out with his own children?????
We all think the same thing rachel. Odd isnt it? thats what I said on my earlier post . Ive said it before Ill say it again. I feel for those kids. All the things those kids get or trips they get to take, are not going to replace a beautiful home life with two parents. I think Jon and Kate both need come counseling. Im wise and old enough to realize people do get divorced, but one min these guys are in Hawaii renewing thier vows, and the next filing for divorce. Something is just wierd about the whole thing and them. IM NOT WATCHING ANYMORE.
Myself I use to watch Jon and Kate plus eight everyday, no more, when the babies were little toddlers the show was cute and interesting,and as jon said quote it became a business,the children got older it wasnt as interesting anymore, and watching kate hitting jon wasnt amusing that was an insult to him in public for the whole world to see, as for dear little aunt jodi , why should she get paid for babysitting ?that was her choice.
when I listened to kate talking about how she didnt like to spend money on herself and her and jon would rather put that money toward the children.and how she only spent 15o.oo on groceries per week, yet they spent a thousand on meat beef actualy at one time,so why would you need to spend a lot per week. money has turned both her an jon into greedy people.that marrriage wasnt going to last anyway,instead of jumping into another relatinonship now they should both be thinkng of those eight children.
Totally agree with you Ano..How Kate treated Jon .. infront of all of the world was totally wrong. I was embrassed for her ! Her shouting in pubilc and yes hitting him and kicking him. Terrible. She would then defend herself by saying , I dont see anyone when Im out blah blah Im too busy … or thats just my personality.
At any rate , the more of us that dont watch it the lower the ratings and maybe it will be cancelled . Please dont get me wrong I dont wany hardships on the kids and I can only hope they grow to be great people, and dont have any isssues over cameras in thier faces since birth and how thier Mom shouted at them all. Jon and Kate grow up.
From the previews it looks like the new shows is going to be a “poor me” from Kate.
Ha Ha rachel, its sort of what the press are doing too …. Jon the bad guy and Kate staying home.I dont buy it. And I wont watch it.
as a mother, grandmother and lover of children this family has put me in a tailspin.
i find it almost unbelievable that these parents are so clueless as to their kids happiness and well being.
kate is as repulsive, arrogant and obnoxious as you can get but jon is really disappointing me now too with his dating young girls that have terrible reputations.
i was hoping he’d step up to the plate since its clear to see he enjoys the kids and she does not.
i pray that by some miracle something is done for these kids and that kevin, jodi and the others that love the kids will be given access to nurture them again.

Wow how did all of this get out of hand for the Gosselins. I thought the show was about raising eight kids and two parents trying to figure out how they would make ends meet. Then in less than one year all of it was gone, the family, homelife, good tv show, and the marriage. What happened to the Christian values and the mission statement for their family. Jon and Kate saying they were in it together. Well I pray you all find happiness for yourselves and those beutiful children God gave you. What miracles of twins and sixtuplets. I am not judging but sad to hear so much trouble for you all. God bless your family
Well Well Well, Jon finally stated he is going to be more careful, and doesnt want his twins to “google” him and find out whats going on, he doesnt want to break their trust with them or his ex. A little too late you ask? Well better late than never? I think they ALL need some therapy
and need to have normal lives minus cameras. Get real jobs. So much for for the crap they used to say on the show , what was that, uhmm we are in this together… ,maybe they figured they can get more money apart? and its all a ploy….. I wouldnt put that past Kate, she loves things and money. I just want those kids to have a happy life …. Please God watch over them……..
I went to TLC’s home page to see what next weeks show is going to be about. Well kate takes the kids to the beach while jon deals with the new installation of kitchen cabinets. Tell me please what was wrong with the old cabinets??? I guess the money tree is still in bloom!

Rachel, are these new episodes?? I haven’t been to the home page, but my TV guide hasn’t shown any new episodes in several weeks, only the reruns.
J&K have certainly made an impact in more ways than one. I saw a “new” mega-family ad, two young parents of sextuplets about 2 years old now. In their interview, they were asked if they were afraid that what happened to J&K would happen to them as well. Looks like J&K are the new standard for how to screw up a perfectly wonderful marriage and family…
I know that Aug. 3rd and Aug 10 are new episodes. Not sure about the rest of Aug.
