Britney Spears Will Do the 2008 VMAs … Sort Of

There was talk of Britney Spears getting a “do-over” performance at the 2008 VMAs, but since her 2007 performance resulted in three public hangings and an invite-only beheading at MTV’s New York City offices, it looks like the staff thought better of it. Britney will not perform live on the VMAs. Instead, she recorded a promo clip with the host, Russell Brand. (Can’t figure out where you know Russell Brand from? He was the crazy rock star dude in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.)
The spot apparently pokes fun at her god-awful performance from last year, and it seems it involves some manner of literal elephant in the room.
Sigh.

So I get it. She wants to point fun at herself. Thats cool. But seriously, is she going to address the fact she was on crazy drugs at the time?
btw, does anyone know what ELSE Russel Brand has been in? I haven’t seen anything from the UK, only Forgetting Sarah Marshall and he was awesome in that so I would like to know what I am looking for. Thanks!

he did a spot of comedy esq roles on channel 4 in the uk, well i think it was limited to e4, prob on you tube., and prior to that he was on mtv but got sacked for being on drugs and stripping [like britters!]
he does radio 2 in the uk as well.
britney is looking better, but please let her come back as a mature 27 / 28 year old mother of two and not the whole overtly se*ed up “virgin” britney gasping and girating to her back up tracks!

Russell Brand is pure sex. Go on YouTube and search ‘the big fat quiz of the year’ and watch the 2006 and 2007 ones. BRILLIANT. SO EFFING HILARIOUS. I am so pumped that he’s going to be hosting the VMA’s because it’s seriously needed a quality host for a long time.
