Video Premiere: Hayden Panettiere, “Wake Up Call”
Here’s 18-year-old Hayden in various states of undress, in a nightclub, singing about how she’s going to have to cheat on her boyfriend to get his attention back, which is really an important message for a teen role model to be sending out to her peers. There are no healthy ways to assert yourself in a relationship, young ladies. It’s important you disrespect yourself and your reputation if your boyfriend isn’t giving you the attention you feel you deserve.
Sigh.
Be sure to stay tuned for the final half of the video, where there’s a dance sequence. Well, an attempt at one, anyway.
Eh, Hayden’s a cutie, and this’ll do well. But I’d just like to state for the record that the grammatically correct title would be “Wake-Up Call.” I know, I know. Hyphens aren’t hip. But they’re important, people.

Hmmm… where to begin….
The message - Yeah, um, girls, if your boyfriend doesn’t pay attention to you or treat you right, don’t dump him and move on, no, dress like a whore at the club to get his obvious cheating-eye attention OR you cheat on him. Doesn’t matter, both are healthy options.
The lyrics - I think a lyric generator wrote that trite shit.
The singing - Jesus God, that was awful.
The writhing - When making a music video, ensure you include an unnecessary montage of you writing on a fitting room floor in various stages of undress. It’s important for the overall message.

The song is not about cheating on her boyfriend, but as the video clearly demonstrates, her dressing up as someone else and trying to catch the eye of her wayward boyfriend. You know, he thinks he’s gonna bag a brunette then suddenly she pulls off the wig and he realises he’s been learing at his own gf. Busted!
Quite clever actually; fooled all you.
Just a shame she is a fucking lousy singer, lousy dancer and lousy actress.

She was just starting to earn points from me for not being a mega skank in the young hollywood scene, but this song dumbed her down and make her lose major props points from me. Trash.
The video reminded me of Li-Lo’s “Rumors” from the strip tease in the elevator to the impromtu dance sequence. All that’s missing in Hayden’s vid is the bird cage!
However, I can [unfortunately] see this being a song that a few teen girls who feel like they are not given enough attention from their men actually enjoy.

I like it, I liked Stars are Blind as well. No I won’t see either one of these ladies in concert (if they were to think they could sing live) or even download a song or CD, but It’ just not that serious is it? As a person of West Indian heritage, no it’s not Bob, Beres, Sanchez, or even Wayne Wonder, but in the eighties when I was a teen, and you guys not so hypocritical, I remember a certain lady from Jersey, Debi Harry who did the same sort of thing with The Tide is High and you folks thougt it was a new genre of music. Lighten up, the child is not leaving Heroes to record music, she has plenty of people to advise otherwise and even if she did I have yet to hear of any actress going broke, because they decided to sing a song or two.
