yah it depends on the person….or their eating habits. when mothers to be say they’re “eating for two” its not completely true in the sense that you have to be constantly eating and gaining weight. the baby is no bigger than your hand for the most part. you dont need to be eating a ton of food everyday. the baby’s stomach is NOT that big. you can still have a healthy pregnancy without eating celery piled high with peanut butter, chocolate, nuts, cheese and chocolate on it or whatever “crazy cravings” you get.

Oh Joan, thank you I’m so glad I’m not alone! I felt so weird when people would talk about the “wonders of pregnancy and childbirth” and all I could think of was “I really want her/ him out of me right now, thank you.” “Give me an epidural and let’s get this over with!”

I skipped the real life picture books. Sounds like I made a good choice!

ribbet- gotta agree about the alien thing. i was about 7 months along with my first and looked through this hippy book that had photos of a birth- there was a particularly gross shot of woman with legs spread and the head was out (sometimes you have to wait for next contraction to pop out the shoulders, then it just slides out) and it was a grimacing little gremlin head. i had a major panic attack at that point when i realized what i had signed up for.

my thing is what the hell is on petes pants?
but my mom hardly gained any weight when she was prego with me
and i weighed like 8 pounds, so i was a chubby baby
i guess it depends on the person

Beet, wait until she hits her 3rd trimester. That’s when the fun weight gain begins; I hope she doesn’t stop going to workouts. I’m with teenie, my daughter was all belly, by the end I could literally balance a plate on my stomach. With my son, the weight gain was all over.

Does anyone else think that having a baby is like the movie Aliens? You have this thing growing in you and living off of you and then it explodes out of your body.

Guess you can tell I’m not an earth mother. I was so glad when the process was over. The results are worth the effort, but I was relieved to have my body back to myself.
