Kermit would never get with Gonzo! He’s a nice guy, and Gonzo’s a spaz. He’d fall for a seductive brunette girl-next-door type after being hounded by Piggy for all those years.
Besides, Gonzo only goes for birds. I don’t think it’s a cover.
