I Post This in the Nicest Way Possible

July 8th, 2008 by Evil Beet

I have no idea how this video has previously escaped me, but I just found it and I had to share it with you guys.

These are the conjoined Schappell twins in a country music video.

I am not judging. I am merely posting. I find this interesting. I thought you might, too.

Also, the Schappell twins are from Reading, Pennsylvania, which, I believe, is also where Jon and Kate Gosselin are from. What the hell is in the water in Reading?

More videos of the twins can be found here.

The smaller one kinda looks like Willow, no?

  2. PWS says:

    Beet,

I don’t like the song; however, I applaude you for showing people with handicapts. You have proved to me that you care about all different types of people no matter what their handicap, mental disability, or sexual preference.

    Thanks Beet

yep, i’m from reading, pa. lori and reba (changed from dori so she can fit into the country music scene) can be seen frequently walking/riding around the local mall. jon and kate also live a few miles from me, but i have yet to see them around.

also, reading is pronounced redding. just so we’re clear. it bothers me when people think it sounds like the activity of reading.

  4. Pepper says:

They have taken what they have and try to make the most of their lives.

  5. joan says:

    “willow, you i-i-i-diot. . .”

  6. kayla says:

    this is sad.
thanks beet for showing someting about handicaps.
it at least shows you care…

but its nice to see that they want to do something with their lives.
kinda made me feel like i need to stop bitching about so many things.
and appreciate what i have…ya know?

  7. Bob Peters says:

Good thing I never had any kids. As much wine as I drink, I would have 3 of them attached at the head.

  8. MW says:

No reason to protest too much, Beet! Seriously, stop trying to convince us you’re not judging. You could have just said “this is a nice, inspiring video I’d like to share”. Anyway.
Thank you. The video would be even better if the people in the background could clap on the beat.

I am from Reading and I can confirm that there is indeed something strange in the water. I went to a very small high school (my graduating class had only 186 people in it & wasn’t even private!) and 6 people in my class (myself included) are totally missing both our canine and wisdom teeth. As if they were never supposed to be there. None of us could ever come up with a better excuse than, ‘It must be something in the water!’ None of our dentists or orthodontists could come up with anything either. We all have either fake teeth or had the gaps closed by orthodontics.

  10. MW says:

My grandfather had no wisdom teeth and he was from Vicksburg, MS.

  11. Asta says:

I remember seeing their special on the Discovery Channel (or TLC or DC Health). It’s nice that they’re following their dreams.

  12. chelsea says:

I think thats her actualy singing

  13. Kari says:

It was…. so hard… to sit through that whole video.

Conjoined twins are suppsed to be identical. So why are they so different? And the one in the chair… she’s so mean to make the other one walk her everywhere. I know it’s not her fault but she doesn’t even give her her own verse to make up for it!!!

  14. Lindsay says:

i’m fairly certain that by ‘interesting’ you mean ‘amusing’ but you feel bad about it so you dress it up..
anyhow, these two were on nip/tuck a couple of years ago.

  15. iiirene says:

i remember seeing them from either tlc or discovery channel too!
its nice they can atleast follow one of their dreams and have fun like everyone else

  16. Shayna says:

    That clapping is really annoying.

  17. Sososyo says:

I know there are plastic surgeons and/or neurologists out there that would separate the two of them. It’s disturbing that the two of them are to be joined like that for the rest of their lives. Someone should do some pro bono work and separate them.

  18. Just so you know... says:

“They” say that missing wisdom teeth is the next step in evolution. Maybe all of the Reading folks are actually AHEAD of the rest of us.
Oh, and I’m from Vicksburg, too. We are not ahead on the evolutionary scale.

  19. c. says:

holy mary mother of sweet jesus h. christ matthew mark luke and john

  20. ollieG says:

LOVE the offbeat clapping by the spectators…

  21. Lindsay says:

sososyo: maybe they didn’t want to be seperated…

  22. Anonymous says:

I have not got any wisdom teeth, either, and my sister only had three… I feel verrrrry lucky :D

I appreciated that, Beet… I didn’t even feel sorry for them, which makes me feel like I might not be a bad person.

  23. Woohag says:

sososyo and Lindsay: I’ve seen documentaries on them and apparently they would die if separated b/c their brain tissue is also conjoined in crucial parts.

  24. 'lise says:

I thought Jon and Kate lived in Hershey. Maybe not anymore… I’m trying to catch up on episodes!!!

  25. anonymous says:

im from lancaster pa which is fairly close to reading. this whole southern end of pennsylvania is extemely intersting. we have the buck, quarryville and columbia. all of which are sometimes scary and shocking to people not from around here.

  26. It's Britney Bitches says:

does it make me a bitch that I found that incredibly creepy?? yikes.

  27. mae says:

@ Bob Peters: haha you and me both

this was troubling to me as well.

  28. sandy says:

so, I don’t get it. am I a bad person if I do feel sorry for them? or if I found this really hard to watch? Because I’m not, but I do, and I did.

  29. Stevie says:

I didn’t like it. And I DO feel bad for disabled/handicapped people because they can’t have a “normal” life, also I don’t like looking at them making creepy riding around on a portable IV/hammock thing music videos. Am I a bad person? Hell no the other day I picked up a pregnant worm on the sidewalk and put her back in the dirt, I help old ladies across the street and other various good deeds. I would never laugh at anyone else’s expense and I am just a good person in general, but that was not interesting or entertaining, shame on you beet, I believe you were hoping for some nasty/funny responses.

  30. Jen in PA says:

Okay. I had to comment about the twins because they’re in my FUNNIEST anecdote ever. Okay. Here it is:

I’m from Reading and in high school a hundred years ago I used to travel to Philly on the bus every weekend to hang out with a friend a I had there.

Anyhoo, one Sunday I’m coming home and Lori and Dori get on the bus and sit behind me. A couple minutes later, one of them says to the other “What did you do this weekend?” and the other one TELLS HER. THink about it.
