Dana, $25,000 is probably just the jurisdictional “amount in controversy” floor for that court. For example, in order for a U.S. federal court to hear a dispute between parties from different states based on diversity jurisdiction, there must be an amount in controversy of at lest $75,000, so federal complaints will usually just claim damages “in excess of $75,000.”

And Beet, I think it’s spelled “wane.”
