Brad Pitt Designing a Hotel?

June 2nd, 2008 by Evil Beet

Strange but true.

Pitt has signed on as the designer of a luxury eco-friendly hotel to be built Dubai.

“Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion,” said Brad in a statement.

Whilst, Brad? Really? “Whilst I live in the 21st century, I prefer to issue statements as though it were 1846,” he added.

And — architecture is your passion? Did you passionately pursue the seven years of schooling that other passionate architects go through whilst you were making millions of dollars as an actor? I think not. I really hope Brad isn’t the lead architect on this thing. It’ll probably collapse whilst they’re working on it.

Its cos he read the Fountainhead – he mentioned it as his favorite book once – and he wants to be Howard Roark. Angelina is his Dominique. Tacky but true!

  2. reynita says:

  3. Raye says:

    LOL Jasmine

  4. DailyBeetReader says:

I have heard him in interviews before saying that architecture is his passion…but I have to agree with Beet…”Did you passionately pursue the seven years of schooling that other passionate architects go through whilst you were making millions of dollars as an actor? I think not.”

  5. Darth Paul says:

Super tacky, Jasmine. Thanks for that sad bit of news. I now have one more reason to think he sucks.

  6. swillz says:

    lol, funny.

  7. Windy City Windy says:

    id still hit it.

  8. Persistent Cat says:

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the on-screen instructions would use “whilst.”

“Whilst shooting, use R1 to auto-target on an individual…” or “You can shoot enemies whilst driving by pressing L1…” Cracked us up everytime.

  9. mambaX says:

    he’ll do it
    because he’s famous
and Dubai has the best German architects
and the best Dutch civil engineers
so he just has to put his name among others

Your commentary on this one is awesome. :)

  11. Donkey Punch says:

The Fountainhead. Wow, I had forgotten that book. Read it about 20 years ago. Damn, I feel old now.

  12. Asta says:

HOW OLD ARE YOU DP. TOO OLD FOR THIS SITE I BET.

As for Brad, he can design away to his little heart’s content. As Mamba said, Dubai has tons of real architects who know what they’re doing.

Although it would be hilllllaaaarious if something went wrong.

  13. Jasmine says:

Hmmm is there an age limit on this site, Asta? Cos if so I bet you are way under it, considering your childish comment!

  14. pinkisfab says:

Sorry but I have too, LMFAO, Beet! You are hilarious!

  15. Donkey Punch says:

Asta you are saying I am too old while in a thread with Brad Pitt who is older than me.

  16. roarking says:

Hope Brangelina do not attempt turning the ayn rand tomes into 2-hr hollywood sexpit. Mr/s Smith was bad enough. And while I’m griping, I’m tired of hollywood actors referring to themselves as artists…

  17. roarking says:

    or in this case, architects…

  18. Canaduck says:

I know this thread is OOOOOOOOOOLD but I am shocked that there’s no outraged British person announcing how we ignorant Americans don’t realize that the rest of the world exists.

And so I’m going to jump in. “Whilst” is a British word–maybe you already knew that. You hear it in the UK. And I think Australia. Possibly other places. I don’t know. I don’t really have a problem with Brad Pitt, but I do have to say that an American using “whilst” the height of tacky and pretentious.
