Pete Wentz: Why I Lied

Petey Pete Wentz explains why he lied about Ashlee’s pregnancy until she was out of her first trimester, in an email to MTV News.
Every woman, no matter who they are or what they do for a living, has the right to wait at least 3 months before sharing this very personal news. We wanted to wait until after the first trimester and get a clean bill of health from our doctors before confirming anything, just like any other couple.
Being a boy I have no idea how to respond to such things and my first instinct was to protect her and the baby.
It’s insane that you can’t let happy news brew in Hollywood. This wasn’t about press or anything. It was about the health of the baby and trying to find a way to be happy with what should be the most happy time of our lives in the middle of a press blitz. I apologize to anyone who felt misinformed but the truth is, the person and growing baby is who I felt most loyal to protect and defend.

It’s totally cool. Like… who’s the douche that’s going to be like “He lied! I don’t care if she could have had a miscarriage and then the news would have been even harder to deal with and more heart breaking because the media was all up in it! I NEED ACCURATE GOSSIP”
Esp. after what happened with Lily Allen I can see any celeb wanting to keep the news private for a bit.

They shouldn’t even need to defend themselves as it’s their own personal business. Unfortunately that’s not how Hollywood rolls.

Congrats. He and Ash learned a lot by watching many fraught with comedy and pathos episodes of Bridezilla.
I knew there had to be a reason I loved him so much (finger in nose notwithstanding).
I’m so happy for them! And he’s right..you have to addmit..
Even if a publicist did write it it is totally true. It’s totally a woman’s right to keep that information to herself as long as she damn well pleases. It makes perfect sense to keep it out of the public until the second trimester even if it means lying.
No harm no foul to either of them in my book.

i love pete wentz, but i dont think ashlee is right for him. shes kind of a poser. no offense or anything, but she totally changes her style depending on who shes with. like, her hair was blonde when she was trying to follow her sisters footsteps, and she dressed totally different. now she with pete, her hairs a different color, and she dresses just like him. she needs to get her own brain, and stop following the way of the crowd.
