Does Anyone Else Watch Jon & Kate Plus Eight?

This is the new show that I’m a little bit obsessed with, and I desperately need someone to talk to about it and none of my real-life friends watch it. So I’m gonna try with you guys.
It’s a reality show on TLC, on Monday nights, but reruns show up all the time.
Here’s the basics: Jon & Kate got married. Jon & Kate had twin girls, Cara and Madelyn. And then they decided to try for just one more, and ended up with sextuplets, three girls and three boys. So now Jon & Kate have eight children. The twin girls are seven years old and the babies are 3 1/2. And the show is about their life.
At first I started watching it because I was like “Awww, babies! Babies are cute!” And the babies are cute, and it’s fascinating to watch how intelligent and aware and communicative children are at just 3 years old, but what got me hooked is the relationship between Kate and Jon.
I mean, is it just me, or does Jon absolutely hate Kate? I mean, Kate, while doing her very best to be a good mother, is totally neurotic and overbearing and controlling and just plain old mean to Jon. She corrects his grammar constantly, tells him how stupid and inconsiderate he is, and at one point even yells at him for breathing too loud. And Jon kind of takes it in stride because he loves his kids, but I think somewhere deep down he really just wants to murder Kate and dump her body in a river, and frankly I don’t blame him. But it’s hilarious to watch.
Is anyone else picking this up, or is this just how all married couples with children interact? If so, maybe marriage and children are overrated …

I don’t believe that they are developmentally challenged. Some kids just develop at different speeds. Girls speech generally develops earlier than boys. Boys fine motor skills tend to develop earlier than girls. If their speech does not improve by the time that they reach 1st grade, however, they will have problems. Most schools teach spelling phonically. If they can not pronounce a word properly, they will have trouble spelling it. EX: Instead of “that“, they will spell “dat”. etc….

Kathryn, Let me start by saying, I’m glad to have had the opportunity to communicate with you. I know a lot of people who say they live in a world filled with respect. They never make a decision without discussing it with their spouse. To hear them, it sounds like they never have a disagree. I can tell you from my own experience, however, my wife and I are total opposites. I personally believe that it is our differences that make us stronger as a couple and therefore stronger individuals. It’s almost as if, what one of us lacks, the other makes up for. The only way I know to explain it is that we are each a half of a person and it takes both of us to make a whole. Many people disagree with me, however, I feel in order to raise a well balanced child it takes both a mother and a father. They both introduce different perspectives to the rearing of the children. Life is not about being perfect, it’s the subtle nuances between that makes the difference. I believe that my children may learn more from our disagreements than they do from the things that we agree upon. They learn balance, compromise and a since of individuality. Many people enjoy trying to speculate on Jon and Kate’s relationship. I, however, feel that they are, for the most part, well balanced. Ones strength is the others weakness and visa versa. Regardless, if it is the male or the female, they both introduce their own unique contributions to their relationship and to their family.
What I do not understand, is why others believe that Jon & Kate should estrange themselves from one another. Why would raising children separately from one parent or the other be more beneficial for the children than the two of them raising the children together? This would deprive the children from the contributions that the other parent has to offer not to mention the added stress on the retentive parent. People, supposedly, embrace diversity in our society. The children may grow into individuals, but that is what life is supposed to be about.
I can only speculate that individuals like “Heather” come from broken homes and were robbed from the contributions that a two parent household could have supplied. She is clearly the product of today’s society.

We will first look at your first sentence. “Until you can put together one single sentence that is grammatically correct, with no misspellings and cohesive in structure and thought, please refrain from posting your poisonous diatribes.” A sentence should not be longer than can be easily read aloud using one breath. You may want to limit your sentence structure into smaller segments containing a single thought. A sentence should also only have the word “and” used one time per sentence. Example: “with no misspellings, cohesive in structure AND thought.”
The second sentence reads thusly. “ If you are desireous of debating (and this is how “debating” is spelled) any tv show topics, you will find a wealth of intelligent posters on this site.” The word that I believe that you were attempting to spell is “desirous”. Please reference ether the online Webster’s Dictionary or the Webster’s Standard Dictionary. I recommend that you do not use Google. There are misspelling in a few of the sites. Also, using “tv” in such a way is considered improper grammar. The word should be spelled out. I will not attempt to point out the errors in punctuation.
In conclusion: Before attempting to correct someone else’s spelling, you should insure that your spelling is correct. You should also make sure that your sentence structure is structurally sound before attacking someone another person‘s. There are usually writing classes available at your local Community Colleges and Institutions.

Man, I could do this all day.
I had to take writing and Literature 1 & 2 when I was in college. That is where I got the rule that a sentence should not be longer than an individual can comfortably read aloud in one breath. A sentence should be prepared in the intent that it is going to be read to someone by someone. Therefore, the rule. And why was the word Institutions capitalized? If you are using a noun, even if it is not a proper name, but it is being used to name something, the first letter of each word should be capitalized. EX: local Community College or College Institution. The word local is describing the location so it is not part of the name. Community College or College Institution not only describes the location but also is giving the location a name since the proper name is not known.
Nouns are always used to name something. That’s what nouns are.
Why did you capitalize Literature? Is it because it is “naming something?” If so, why didn’t you capitalize writing?
I’m in college and have never heard that sentence rule. If you read any literature, you would find many famous authors who clearly do not abide by it.
Even in your example, community college should not be capitalized (nor institutions). They would only be capitalized if you were referring to a specific community college. There are several community colleges in my area. My cousin goes to Mesa Community College. See?

I recommend that you speak to your teacher. The sentence rule is well known. When reading, it should be able to flow, in anticipation that it is going to be read to someone. Therefore, the sentence should flow accordingly. A period at the end of a sentence signifies a break or pause where a breath should be taken. That is actually one of the purposes of having a period. I’m sorry if was not clear about the noun information. I was refereeing to a noun being used in the place of an unavailable proper noun. Again, speak to your teacher about the flow of a sentence. I think that you would find the information very interesting. There was a book that we had to use in class when I was attending school. I believe the name of the book was “The Handbook for Writers”. It was full of useful information. I can tell that you have an interest in writing. Good Luck.

Your capitalization is still all over the place (”Luck”), your spelling is getting worse, and you shouldn’t use quotation marks for a book title (although, alas, it is difficult to italicize/underline on this forum).

Dear Mr Head, I want to thank you for bringing attention to the above post on all of the errors made, I am not one to point out mistakes made with all the grammer and spelling, it’s a blog, I’ll get over it, but more than once either I or another poster has been beaten down for mistakes made in writing,spelling or grammer, I say who cares? we are not in school doing a test, we are talking about a show,

Children should never be exploited like the Octo-Slut has chosen to do. Jon and Kate are simply providing for their children in the best way they can. If that means Reality TV & zero privacy, then so be it. Furthermore, I do not believe that Jon has cheated on Kate. Where could he possibly go to have an affair? He would be instantly recognized. My husband and I met, fell in love instantly and were married 2 weeks later. I would not recommend this for everyone, but it certainly has worked for us. She did have the option adopt a loving, deserving child that could have supplied both she and her husband with love and affection that they were looking for. Let’s agree to disagree. There is no comparison between the MOTIVES of “Octo-mom” vs. Kate. Kate TRULY wanted a child / children of her OWN. Octo-Mom wanted to create a financial opportunity for herself, and so far, has done so.
Regarding your comment about in vitro fertilization, let’s say 50 eggs were “available” to be implanted. Would you use them all (which is stupid), or would some have to be destroyed (which you claim is “murder”)???
Have you adopted a child? Do you even have children?!? Ok, I am going to have to chime in on this one. Georgia, I am not a Obama hater. I am still waiting to see what all he does do before I pass judgment. I do believe that he trying. However, Bush, warned congress about his fears, not once, but twice, about the financial institutions of our country. He predicted that this was going to happen but they disagreed. So you can’t pin it all on him ether. I personally think it is a combination of many things that all boils down to nonproductive people in our society that the government is having to support. Beginning with illegal aliens. Let call them what they are (invaders). They come here to escape their own country, which I understand, but many of them end up on welfare, which drains our countries resources or prison, 19000 in California alone, which does the same thing. We spend, as a country, 90 billion a year just on their welfare. I’m sorry, I wish no ills to come to them. But I feel we need to take care of ourselves first. How can we continue to take care of everyone else when we have people loosing their jobs left and right and loosing their homes. We have families living under bridges and in tent cities that are American citizens. We can’t take care of others until if we cant take care of ourselves first. They need take that 90 billion just for one year and build a wall like the wall of china along the US / Mexican boarder. Then start working on the unwed mothers and their children which is the largest percentage of our population that is on welfare. I believe Obama IS offering amnesty to ILLEGAL ALIENS. Why should THEY be granted amnesty when, as Richard Head correctly pointed out, we have millions of American CITIZENS losing their homes.
